Movie talk
He was, and although he was pretty good, he's no Raul Julia.
I'm getting The Proposition confused with The Proposal.
Here, let me help you: one of them is an amazing movie, the other one is The Proposal.
say what you want about scorsese but 'shutter island' looks awesome.
I watched it Thursday night, and it was an amazing movie. I had to skip forward for most of the flogging scene, though. It was makin' me cry. I hadn't realized that David Wenham was in it (love him), and even though he didn't have a huge role, it was interesting to see him play the not so nice guy for once.
Last night I watched In The Loop and The Girlfriend Experience, they were both pretty good.
!
Who do you think would win in a fight? Snatch or Lock, Stock and Two smoking Barrels?
Snatch. no! Lock Stock. no wait! Snatch.
wait, which one did the guy have the kid with him in? ugh i get those movies crossed.
it's a shame jason statham doesn't do more roles with speaking parts, he has an awesome voice.
snatch didn't do it for me. it was like lock stock without the charm.
So me and my boyfriend went to see The Hangover... It was very disappointing. Damn you people for being so excited about it!
Then we went to see Transformers 2 [No better movies to go see, gah], which I enjoyed more than I thought I would actually. I have a weakness for those damn transformer-things, can't help it. Gah, I very much dislike Megan Fox though.... She's a turd. Get off the screen! >=| *Smacks her* And I don't like the guy. [Sia? Shia? Boef? Something] I guess I just like the transformers!
As a Non-American, you wouldn't get it.

Snatch > Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels

He kinda looks like you. Sorta a little bit?
I saw Pi and the Fountain Yesterday. Both were interesting but their sloppy narratives made them hard to enjoy. Well not really Pi, But I had to read up on the Fountain after I'd finished it.
"The Warmth of Blood" 30 min Short Film
I've been clicking on Transformers and The Happening when I see them on cable because I get some sick thrill out of getting extremely pissed off at them.
Watch The Fountain again. I liked it the first time i saw it, but had a few problems with the narrative as well. The second time i saw it, i loved it and have seen it probably four times now. I think it might be one of the best movies made in the last ten years. Deserves to at least be in the top ten of the last ten years.
I also caught 500 Days of Summer last night, which was delightful. Not a great movie and there are a lot of stupid things about it, but it's a wholly enjoyable film. And, really, you're going to this movie to watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt be charming. And he is. Exceptionally so.
I think the only thing I didn't like about The Fountain, and I only discovered this after having seen it probably 5 times, is I wish they didn't have him able to put the ring on his finger as the future self.
I think it would have been much more effective if he failed to put the ring on in the past AND future and only succeeded putting it on in the present.
After seeing Martyrs I am kinda curious to see more French Horror. I have already seen High Tension. Has anyone seen Inside?
Inside is fantastic, make sure you see the unrated edition because the R-Rated version has quite a bit cut out apparently.
I prefer Martyrs over it but Inside is still brilliant, it uses the shadows in scenes wonderfully. On a second viewing I realised I totally missed a certain character in one scene because of how they filmed it!!
Not Horror, but the French science fiction film Eden Log is worth the look.
I saw Eden Log recently but I got distracted and started doing something else so kinda missed it towards the end...it looked interesting though, but I didn't know what the fuck was going on.
Same.
I'm thinking about going and seeing Moon sometime soon, the only question is whether I should go see it in the next few days at the big multiplex or if I should wait a week or two and see it at the arthouse cinema.
!
I had some free time today and went and saw The Hurt Locker. All. By. Myself.
I thought it was well made and I should've gone to see it sooner. It wasn't perfect by any means and I think the minor characters seemed more like stereotypes than characters, but the story was all about James anyway. I enjoyed that it remained indifferent on the war also. I didn't think it preached or protested the U.S. involvement.
I need to start going to more films by myself. It's relaxing to me.
Holy crap, the next Cronenberg project is going to be Don DeLillo's Cosmopolis!
!
I heard from a friend that Moon is going to be made into a trilogy, but I can't seem to be able to confirm this anywhere online. Anyone heard anything about this and what the next movies might be about?

Has anyone seen Il y a longtemps que je t'aime?
Hey! Look! They're making a movie out of that old Twilight Zone episode.

I've Loved You So Long is just brilliant! I can't believe Thomas was not nominated for an Oscar. Or she was and I just can't remember... the director of the film has a book out, one called Brodreck's Report, suppose to be good?
Oh yay!! I downloaded it a week ago or something. I'll definitely watch it within the next couple of days then.
I just found this, and I'm not looking forward to it. It's like Tim Burton has disappeared down his own belly button, he's become a genre in himself.
!
Yeah I used to love Tim Burton but I'm totally unimpressed by him over recent years. And Sweeney Todd was one of the worst films I have ever seen. Alice In Wonderland looks awful. CGI ugh.
I just watched a Polanski film called The Tenent and it creeped me out. I don't like living on my own any more
!
Yeah The Tenant is great...very creepy.
It was pretty good, but I prefered Repulsion. Both better and creepier.
!
woooooooooooooo...........
If you guys have Comcast On-Demand check this one out.

Finally caught Moon and i loved it. Sam Rockwell, man, no idea where he was before Jesse James, but the dude's fantastic. And Clint Mansell, as always, is perfect. Really, loved just about every second of this movie.
First I saw of him was in the Green Mile, no idea where he was before that.
I guess i've seen him in some other stuff before that. Just imdbed him. Who knew?

i did the same thing a few weeks ago and felt the same way. we should be friends.
SEMI-SPOILER...
but dude, you've never seen Galaxy Quest?!
I'm really wanting to see both Repulsion and The Tenant, they've both been talked about around me a lot lately.
SEMI-SPOILER...
but dude, you've never seen Galaxy Quest?!
galaxy Quest is post-Green Mile, yes?
Green Mile released - 10 December 1999
Galaxy Quest released - 25 December 1999
Hot damn! My movie minutiae knowledge shines through again!
i never knew vincent gallo was in goodfellas until the other day.
I haven't seen Repulsion but just added it to my lovefilm list. Along with Empire Of The Sun because I was talking about the book earlier and have never seen the film.

even lindsay lohan seems appealing...
I saw The Informers today. I hadn't heard very good things about it but I enjoyed it. It's been some time since I read the book so I can't compare it specifically but it definitely got the same feel across. Also, Amber Heard's tits have a starring role.
How would you rate it compared to other BEE movies?
!

Yeah, The Proposition will probably disturb you, but it's still a fantastic movie.
I just watched Presumed Innocent tonight. Interesting court drama, kind of wordy and slow at times, but overall pretty good. Raul Julia was fantastic. Remember when he was in Street Fighter? How embarrassing...
