Monkeywright's Movie Mrecommendations
This infrequently updated thread will tell you what you should be watching, because I have recently seen it and it is awesome.
Black Dynamite.
Kot-Damn. If you were a fan of "I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka!" you HAVE to see this movie. Where Sucka was a send-up of the entire genre of 70s blaxploitation, Black Dynamite is more of an homage, a mostly tongue-in-cheek self contained tale. Michael Jai White is spot on as the title character, always lovin' the bitches, and karatifyin any suckas that get in his way.
The dialogue (and acting) is intentionally awful in parts ("I know I was the best CIA agent the CIA ever had, but I thought I told you honkies from the CIA that Black Dynamite was out of the game!") and the details of bad 70s black cinema (booms in the shot, uncomfortable pauses, misspoken dialogue) are all there. It clocks in just under 90 minutes, and feels just a bit too long, but it has a supreme final fight between Black Dynamite and "The Man" that is utterly hilarious.
I naturally assume that that's what Undercover Brother was doing a mock film of.
Probably, but Black Dynamite succeeds in being funny.
That looks great.
Not sure if it's well-know in the USA, but there's a cult tv show here called "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" that this reminds me of for some reason. Claims to be a 'lost 80s masterpiece', but is actually a terribly acted, badly shot cheap horror set in a hospital. It's done more for comedy though.
Haha, I love that movie.
"I threw that shit before I walked in the room!"

Added it to my Netflix...been meaning to see this one.
