I quite like the director Larry Clark. Yeah, he's a sicko, but he nabbed some good actors before they really got big; like Chloe Sevigny, Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce, or Michael whatsis-face (the guy who played the angelic quaterback, Henry, in Dawson's Creek...series 3?)

Kids was labelled one of the best independent movies of it's time. Bully, however, seemed to be not as popular.

Did anyone read A Crack-up at the Raceriots, by the scriptwriter for Kids? (Harmone Korine) It's a good read actually- also rather twisted, but entertaining.

So, what do you guys think of Larry Clark and his movies?

I don't know how else to put it to you except I think bully is shitty and kids is overrated.

Kids. They picked him off the street while he was skating.

Chloe Sevigny was really pretty in Kids.. Rosario Dawson (is that her name?) - in Kids also- she looks a lot better in the 25th Hour.

yeah i dont think your confused i sure wouldnt consider a skating film with a bunch of fucked up kids having fun rolling around in trashcans a debut, but i think thats where leo fitzpatrick went big was kids.

Kids was pretty amazing. When it ended I felt like vomiting, slapping all those kids, and watching a fucking comedy. It was such a harsh ending, but I secretly loved it.

no no when they are at that hotel and bams driving into a snow bank with a van with somebody on top, leo is the guy with a scarf and a black shirt. thats the scene perfectly and if you can remember it just barely shows it but it show leo talking to mtv or something just a little clip in cky2k, he must be out of philly or something. or they just recognized him from kids and was like dude come out and fuck around with u s i dont know

towards the beginning if you want to look for it its in the part in the snow so theres not many in the snow, if you watch it and with my definition above you should be able to point him out.

Larry's movies remind me of Bret Easton Ellis, but with emphasis on the 'shock' and absolutely no humour.

I should like Larry's crap, I feel, but I don't. I watch them and sort of bore myself to tears. The characters aren't quirky or interesting, they're just like the most boring, hideously stereotypical people you could ever meet, doing nothing very interesting. Even the most annoying and two-dimensional people I've met in real life have little quirks that make them at least vaguely memorable. Plus, he seems incapable of ever writing even a single person into his movies who has an IQ bigger than their shoe size.

Did he do Ken Park? Which was subsequently banned in Australia and the premiere raided?

I think Gummo is better then Kids and Bully. (Kids was written by the director/writer of Gummo, and I think Bully was written by him too)

none of them have any real importance, i hated bully and gummo's hilarious and kids was just shocking to so many people cuz it was thrown out into the mainstream media and and it was in the early nineties but i would have to say kids and gummo are a tie.

They are bad, but the movie is wonderful. I love cats also, in fact I use to foster cats, and I still love this movie.

You're too young to be watching such films.

adversary, shut it

like are they real? or is it obvious its fake. i odnt know, ive grown up around cats all my life (recently lost 2 as well) so im very hesitant. if its just one quick scene where ya know its all sound effects no graphic portrayal, than i can sit through it. but if its focussing on the cat as its dying i really dont wanna watch it

They don't show them dying, but dead, and they look very real, they are probebly 1 minute scenes each.

ooook. so theres no schreeching and brutal images. the cats are just already dead and you presume the kids kill them

No, in one scene, the kids are wipping a dead cat that they tied to a tree, and it's eyes are hanging out. It's disgusting, but it adds a lot to the experiece of the movie.

By the way, there are only like three or four scenes with dead cats in them.

but the cat isnt alive or anything when theyre whipping it against a tree? like does it start off as its already dead and theyre just whipping it still

It's already dead, and to the looks of it, it's been either dead for a awhile or they they have been wipping it for some time. The only scene with a live cat being hurt is a scene where it shows one of the kids putting a cat in a barrel full of water, it just closes up on the water as show a blurry image of a cat underwater and meowing.

I usually adore fucked-up cinema but Clark doesn't do it for me. Another Day in Paradise was decent. Bully, I liked the way it ended for some reason but other than that it was tedious crap. And as for KIDS well..... I can't find anymore words to describe it other than "SUCKS."

Oh yeah, I have not yet to see Ken Park or his remake of "TEENAGE CAVEMAN"--- So I don't know maybe "TEENAGE CAVEMAN" might be the movie for me.
