Joker? Possible Spoilers
This might have Spoilers for those who haven't seen it so read at your own risk!
So went and saw "The Dark Knight" for the second time today and I keep thinking.
Who in the hell is going to play the Joker, he is a huge part, and an awesome villian to just kill off early in the next movie. In the end he doesn't die and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything or has any thoughts of who would be replacing the amazing Heathe Ledger as the Joker.
I just want to hear what everyone else has to say about this topic because I know either someone has asked you, you have asked yourself, or you have asked someone. Who is going to play the joker in the next movie.
I'm sorry if this is thread has already been made, just didn't want to waste my time trying to find it.
That's exactly what I was thinking/already said the other thread. If they bring the Joker back at all, hopefully it's some cut Ledger's scenes.
I am the ghost that haunts my dreams. It's pathetic, really, to be the monster of my own nightmares. Next to you is the only time I feel safe...

It really sucks we'll never see a performance like that again. I mean, a lot of people want to see more Joker after TDK... really, they want to see more of Heath's Joker. I don't blame them. I think everyone does/did.

I don't know if anyone agrees but I think if Johnny Depp were to play Joker that he would be a great replacment and he would do Heath justice while doing a great job. That's what I think, Johnny Depp is a great actor and could do a great job, depending on if he would take the job or not. Heathe's joker reminded me alot of Depp's acting in a way.
And joker isn'r gone, he is still there, the police found him. I'm not talking actor wise I'm talking about movie and story wise. And I do not think that Two Face is dead, I think that while Batman was on the escape from the police he might have ran away. The next movie is deff about two face trying to get revenge.
No. I don't think they should replace Heath at all. And I really don't think Depp would make a good Joker at all... yeah he's a decent actor and all that, but he's overrated. Calling him the best actor of his generation is a little bit much. He's good in a lot of what he does, but I don't think he'd be good in this role. I think he could do it manageably, but I don't think he could achieve or surpass Ledger... and I don't think he should try.

Ok I guess no one here heard this yet, but the word on the street is, that Daniel Day-Lewis is the top candidate for the next joker.
Cheeks
1. The fleshy part of either side of the face below the eye and between the nose and ear.
2. Something resembling the cheek in shape or position.
3. Either of the buttocks.
4. Impertinent boldness: had the cheek to insult his hosts.
Unless Chris Nolan or Daniel Day-Lewis confirms it, I don't think I believe that. I dunno about DDL doing a blockbuster anyway... if anything, I think the only reason he would ever do it is as a tribute of some kind to Heath, since he spoke about Heath's passing openly/emotionally.

The only way I can see them "cheating" the Joker in the third is to have him in Arkham Asylum, in the shadows, in a Hannibal Lecter-esque role. Batman is facing a fucked up foe and needs the Joker's sociopathic mind to help figure out the next move. Sounds lame, yeah I know, but my mind is not creative near 4 AM after working damn near 12 hours without a break.
It would be cool if they had enough Joker footage to whip something up for the 3rd film.
Maybe Tony Soprano's dead mom will cameo...(ha, ha, a little joke for you soprano fans)

Yeah I never said that Depp was the best actor of his generation and NO ONE and when i say that i mean NO ONE will surpass Ledger, Ledger did wayyyy to good of a job. But like I was saying for some reason he reminded me of Depp and I think Depp could do a good job, he wouldn't be Ledger, at all, but he could do a good job.
After seeing this movie though like it's too bad that Heathe had to go, amazing actor...
DK was such an epic movie, I don't think there should be a third. Everyone's just gonna say it wasn't as good. We need NEW villians but I can't think of any mainstream villians that could be epic. 2 Face isn't epic. He wasn't epic in Batman Forever and he's not now.
Rah's Al Ghul was epic because he threatened the entire world.
So any GOOD ideas for movie 3 or do you think the director should stick with the two drink minimum formula like Burton and Shumacher did and give the rights to Batman to someone else?
I'm still waiting to see a real life version of Dr Hugo Strange.
Sucky ideas for something new:
Killer Moth
Mad Hatter
(a smarter) Bane
Firefly
(Johnny Depp as) The Creeper
That's all I can think of now. Just please Mr Nolan: No Penguin.
Well, rumors are skyrocketing about the Riddler being the next main bad guy. Apparently he's suppost to be the employee that was trying to blackmail Bruce Wayne in the movie. The character profile makes sense since Riddler was an ex employee of Wayne Corp., but his name was Edward Nigma, not Mr. Reese. How that is getting defended is that Riddler had many personas and "Mr. Reese" sounds like "mysteries". I think people are looking way too close into things and personally think Riddler would be a poor choice for a villian directly after Joker.
Either way, if we are looking that close into clues for the next villian wouldn't it make sense that Catwoman be introduced due to the wisecrack about cats and the loss of a love interest for Mr. Wayne? Also Harley Quinn would have been wonderful, but without Joker....
If the Riddler happens to be Mr. Reese (mysteries) or the reporter (Mike Engel...Mr. E...mystery)...the theme of using the media could continue. They know Bruce Wayne is Batman. But...if Two Face is still around, and only a myth to most people, it would stir up some shit if the Ridler tried to expose Harvey Dent (the white knight) as Two Face, and still alive. It would probably give them a reason to have Batman and Two Face work together...keep ID's secret. But that's pure spec.

I don't know how to say this without sounding like too much of an asshole, so just don't take a lot of offense from this... but I don't like any of the ideas you've suggested so far. I mean, I don't think Batman working with Two-Face would even work in the animated series or comic book. If all they have in common is they want to keep their alter identity secret, then really Spiderman and Green Goblin should have been past pals, you know? It doesn't work like that. Can't really write a plot just because team-ups and betrayals would be cool, because the movies aren't exactly like comic books. They're more based on realism and psychology and stuff.
I don't know how serious about that you were, since yeah, you're right, it's pure speculation, but I don't think Nolan is going to stoop to that level of lameness. Just like Joker working as Hannibal pretty much negates the psychology of the character that he JUST BUILT in the movie he JUST FINISHED and would be lame... Joker wouldn't help Batman unless there was some sort of twisted glee to be gotten from it, much like Batman wouldn't work with Two-Face just because they both don't like the Riddler. Know what I mean? If anything, if the scenario you suggested (Reese becomes Riddler and such), Batman would be against both Dent and Riddler, trying to clean up the mess Two-Face leaves behind while keeping Riddler quiet.
Whatever happens, I hope Nolan works really hard to try to top this one. I mean, if there is a third, I hope it at least tops BB.

Wow, all you guys are deff opening my eyes to new things haha!
And if there is a thrid I think that it will be better than BB, TDK is a hard movie to top, for any movie haha.
But i think that Depp would play a good riddler, I hope they have a great line of actors like they did in this movie. That's what really makes the movie incredible because the great line of actors and everything is just built up well like I watched it for the second time knowing what was going to happen and still was on the edge of my seat litterally haha!
Rainbow...no offense at all. I wasn't presenting those ideas as being cool or something I hope for, just presenting them as options. The whole Joker sitting in Arkham in the shadows playing mind games with Batman was just a way to keep a "new actor" in the shadows. Because, if they try to use the Joker in the third, I don't know how they could do it effectively, his arc is so good in this and Ledger's performance was legendary, so whoever takes on the role would be doomed from the get go...although, a lot of people questioned the casting of Heath at first. Oh...and I think Ryan Phillape was supposed to be Two Face at one point.
Anybody know any good arcs the Ridler had, be it comics or cartoons?

I think you're thinking of Hush, nate. In which yeah he's pretty important. Long Halloween I don't remember TOO well, but I have it in my hand right now and it has a lot to do with Dent's transformation and a coneiving mobster nephew/or son/someone.
I don't think Hush would make a very good film, though.

Riddler's involved with the story. But Holiday is Alberto Falcone.
Other than that, I don't know many good Riddler stories. I'm not sure he would make a really good main opponent anyway. He's somewhat interesting, but I'm not so sure they could really outdo TDK with a Riddler story.

Okay, this has really been on my mind, and I have heard it.
Even though I don't believe it, lemme say this.
One of my friends told me that 3 different actors dedicated their roles to playing the Joker when Heathe killed himself. Like I said probably not true at all I just wanted to know what you guys think.
And on the other hand I think that Riddler and whoever they pick to be the villans are going to work, they did talk about long holloween maybe thats the next movie. Just I have a feeling that whatever they do, they are going to try and try to top TDK, even though it might not happen still have faith.
We must all still have faith haha.
I read this online. Doesn't really mean anything officially but I thought it was worth repeating. Make no mistake by the way, Joker really is out of the picture after this movie, at least according to our source. We’re told that the Joker indeed was supposed to be back for another film, and that they did consider simply recasting the part for the inevitable Batman 3, but that those plans have been scrapped after the tragedy of Heath Ledger’s death. Joker has been written out of the Batman 3 script. Instead, our scooper tells us we’ll get a lot more Two-Face. No surprise there. Anyone who’s seen the recent trailer for The Dark Knight knows the current movie will be dealing with the creation of Batman’s scarred, coin-flipping bad guy. It looks like Batman 3 will continue with his story. We couldn’t get specific details from our source, but she says the third film will be referencing the Batman graphic novels “The Long Halloween” and “Dark Victory”.
My favorite incarnation of the Riddler is of the Riddler in "The Batman" the newest Batman cartoon on the Kids CW.
The gothic long hair and pale skin would fit perfectly with Nolan. Alas I call myself a HUGE Batman fan though I've never actually read an entire Batman comic book. (I don't see the previous statement as discrediting me, I still know a hell of a lot more than a lot f other "Batman fans")
Still I find myself telling everyone I know this Riddler riddle. I love it to death:
"Forwards it is heavy. Backwards it is not." Scroll down for the answer.
Hint: Backwards it is NOT. N-O-T.
Answer: A "ton".
I think that they should've just called this movie The Joker instead of The Dark Knight because it was more about the Joker than Batman. And I'm not saying that it was bad, it was wonderful. That was the Joker. I mean Jack Nickleson will always be Jack Nickleson, and if they did choose Depp, Depp is always Johnny Depp. But Heath Ledger was the Joker, and became the focal point of the movie. I didn't really care about him and didn't think he was a good actor, but after this. Damn. Now I am sad he's gone, because I fear that is the end of the Joker.
Because I love. I, who am not loved in return. I have a love that is far deeper than the empty gasps and convulsions of brutish coupling. Shall I speak of her? Shall I speak of my bride? She has no eyes to flirt or promise. But she still sees all. Sees and understands with a wisdom that is god-like in its scale. I stand at the gates of her intellect and I am blinded by the light within. How stupid I must seem to her. How child-like and uncomprehending. Her soul is clean, untainted by the snares and ambiguities of emotion. She is untouched by joy or sorrow. I worship her though I am not worthy. I cherish the purity of her disdain. She does not respect me. She does not fear me. She does not love me. They think she is hard, and cold, those who do not her. They think she is lifeless and without passion. They do not know her. She has not touched them. She touches me, and I am touched by God, by destiny. The whole of existence courses through her. I worship her. I am her slave. No freedom ever was so sweet.
Ok I guess no one here heard this yet, but the word on the street is, that Daniel Day-Lewis is the top candidate for the next joker.
an odd likeness..

They caught me because of the blood on my fingers and between my teeth. I looked up from my meal on the tile of the kitchen floor and dropped her cold limb with a thud and minor splash and told them it wasn't me.
Okay, this has really been on my mind, and I have heard it.
Even though I don't believe it, lemme say this.

I think your friends info is a little mixed up. Heath Ledger started another movie after completing TDK called The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrel all agreed to complete his role because he passed away while filming this flick. This will be possible because Ledgers character is a man whose appearance changes throughout the movie.
