Inception *Spoilers*
If you want to see more of him, watch Brick, The Lookout, Uncertainty and 500 Days of Summer and maybe then Stop-Loss, Killshot, and Mysterious Skin.

Thanks you two. I've seen 500 Days of Summer--he was good in it and I liked the tone of the film (made me think Webb will be able to pull off the new Spidey better than the Raimi cheese).
As for Inception, I love the film. I was one of the nuts wearing a tinfoil hat, screaming it was all a dream from start to finish, then I changed my mind. The beauty of the film is that I'm allowed to do so. I still want another viewing, and I can't wait for it to be released on DVD.
This is the film I'm upgrading to Bluray for.
Yes, I want to play. I really, really do.

BRICK
Yup. Thats why I recommended it first!

I'm watching it in an hour. Thanks
Yes, I want to play. I really, really do.
Uncertainty is good? That's his only flick I haven't seen. Manic is good too, with Zoey Descanel and Don Cheadle.

^^ yeah, I really liked Don Cheadle in Manic.
Mmmmm Zoe. I would bum her in the mouth.
Brick was good. Thanks for pointing me to it.
Yes, I want to play. I really, really do.
You're welcome.
I liked Uncertainty. I didn't really like Manic much, but yes, Don Cheadle was good in it.

I think I first saw JGL in 10 Things I Hate About You. And then I recognized him in G.I. Joe. 10 Things was pretty good; Heath Ledger was good in it.
First post in a few months, haha.

OHSHIT!!!!!!!!!
Meant to post this the other day, but after watching a bootleg a couple more times I'm pretty much convinced the entirety of the movie is in the dream. The kids had nothing to do with it though. It started with when he's running through the alley and the buildings look like their closing in on him as he tries to squeeze through. Nothing big, that could be explained away too I suppose. But one of the very first things we see in the film is Saito picking up his top and spinning it. That completely compromises it's reliability from then on and timeline-wise he only spins it one other time after that, when he gets home to see his kids. You've heard of the unreliable narrator, here we get the world's first unreliable prop!
Kinda sucks, I still prefer the movie as it having been real.
also, here's this. Looks better when you zoom in on it and can follow the little lines.

I was telling my mom the other day about cobb having someone else touch his totem!
((Dirty Euphemism?))
he twirled it and everything!
((Dirty Euphemism?))
Actually since the totem he was using was actually Mal's totem you never actually see what his true totem was.

OMG this film, like totally changed my life...
Nah, it was okay.
Why is Christopher Nolan so badass? How is every movie he makes (that I've seen) so awesome? I disagree with a lot of these negative remarks. The movie was AWESOME, and kept you on edge (and fucking LEFT YOU THERE, DAMMIT!!). It introduced a massive amount of concepts, and I honestly can't see how anyone can claim the script was basic. What's basic about it? What was the letdown? What was the glaring obviousness that the [contradictorily] complex storyline masks? The only question I had on my mind (for most of the movie) was whether they'd make it or not, and that wasn't obvious. I saw no twists, except for the twist ending, and I still found the film to be extraordinary.
I know there's no objective answer, but by the way, I say he was dreaming. I was first clued in to this by the phone call he gets from his kids, and his daughter doesn't remember mom ain't comin' back. I have a feeling that was how he wanted to remember his daughter, so that's how she stays in the dream.

The top falls, you can all just watch the movie... I can't tell you the exact second but as the screen goes black it keeps spinning for a while then it just wobbles and stops spinning, a light sound of it hitting the table.

I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to know, Don.

I love the fact that all throughout the film there's these little bits that get you to thinking of course it's all a dream but then at the end the top falls to confirm that it wasn't but then there's the question of the top's reliability. Im watching it again!
I think it would be hilarious if he released a different cut of the film, without notice, to about half the theaters, where you see or hear the top fall (or to a clearer degree), maybe with a couple other slightly-off details throughout, just to fuck with all the people debating it and swearing they saw this or that.
Are you saying Cobb only spins it one more time?
He spins it once while sitting in his apartment. He is holding a gun just in case it doesnt stop spinning. As soon as it falls, he breathes a huge sigh of relief. He also spins it in the real timeline workshop.
Nate, can you confirm that you can hear the top hit the table after the screen goes black at the end, or was Don bullshitting?

Chronologically, he only spins it one other time. Saito spins it at the beginning of the movie, but that point in time takes place at the end of the story. After he spins it, they off themselves and come out of everything on the plane and the next time he spins it is at home before he sees his kids.
Sadly, I got a crappy bootleg and it cuts out the instant the screen goes black. there might be a split second it's on there long enough but then the audio is nothing to write home about and there's nothing to tell.
Ohhh okay, I'm tracking what you're saying now. Good point.

that should become "the thing" to do with all of Nolan's films from now on.

I don't think the spinning top is compromised by someone else touching it. The die and chess piece can be compromised because they have biased weights and if someone else knew the bias then they would be made redundant.
The top isn't designed to work in the same way, anyone could use it and anyone can touch it.
Well I know karate, Voodoo too; I'm gonna make myself available to you
I don't need no make up; I got real scars
I got hair on my chest; I look good without a shirt
didn't they make a whole point with Juno trying to use his top and he was all like "No! Mine!"
They all died on the plane and everything else was Purgatory.
I remember Gordon-Levitt and Page both saying DON'T TOUCH (because their's were weighted). But Saito (and Mol, as it was hers originally) touched Leo's and he never seemed to care, just as long as he got it back and could spin it again.

i agree. it was a quick grab at you to try to figure out what's going on, plus then it cut to the first time they were there in a similar room together with Leo trying to sell his services. it worked well for me because first it shows him washed up on a beach, then there's two white kids playing in the sand, then there's japanese soldiers walking around... instant wtf and i have to know more!
also i love this movie, seen it twice. with Fincher doing Social Network and then seeing this after Nolans batman movies, he has moved to the position of my favorite director.
Just watched it again last night. It doesn't fall, you bastard.
I think I've become certain that the entire movie, up to the point where he and Saito are sitting back at the beginning, Cobb was in touch with reality. It's just that we never see him and Saito shoot themselves or what not, so we can't be sure if he ever really came back. Perhaps it was that Saito and Cobb took a chance by shooting themselves, either to go back to reality or go deeper into a dream state where, as Cobb warned, they couldn't distinguish reality from the dream no matter how hard they tried.

Which one is real?!?

you know, video games for movies are always terrible, but those Lego games for star wars and indiana jones are pretty darn fun. Now I want to play a Lego Inception video game!
I went to some guys house last night and he had a few star wars lego sets and I wanted to ask if I could build them soo bad.
My nephew can play lego star wars all day if he could. Sometimes he does! They are pretty cool.

I need me some LEGOS!!!
Guys dig chicks who dig on their legos.
I walked by the toy area in target. Maaan, their legos look so awesome. I still have two boxes full of 'em. I miss destroying my older brother's creations. He was the creative spirit, while I was obviously the destructive spirit. Have legos been applied symbolically to stories in this way? I think I might use that.

I hate Lego's. Ever since I was very young I have hated Lego's with a passion. Stupid commercials were the bane of my fucking existence for years....

Ah, Legos. My grandparents ordered us kids a big boxful. This was back when they were not yet available in stores in the the US. Didn't have all these fancy shapes you kids grew up with neither! We had "square", "rectangle", and "skinny rectangle".
I got the Lego Indiana Jones game and realllly want the Star Wars one.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.

Well he does make a valid point.

found a DVD copy of this online and, at the end, it definitely wobbles enough that you know it's all a dream.
I watched it again the other day and thought the same thing, Nate. I think it probably does fall O.S because it gets a bit of a wobble happening and never in the film when it is spun in a dream does it wobble. It never faulters, just keeps spinning.
It was all a dream. I'm liking the theory that the whole thing was someone else incepting Cobb's mind. Which would mean they were like 6 layers down or some shit.

I wanna see this. I heard it was awesome. It's on my To-Do list.
