How is this, at least compared to Scarlet's Walk?

I find it to be her most accessible set in like, well, maybe ever. The whole "garden" structure is pure Tori at her arty best, but you don't need to get it to enjoy the music. Basically, its another thematic exploration of the connections between sex, religion, and violence on every level from the mythic to the current political landscape. Definite feminist leanings, but the songs are sexy, singable, and thoughtful. As close to pop as Ms. Amos is ever going to get. You get 19 songs for the price of admission. It's a good value to risk the bucks on.

Sounds like her last album.

That's what a lot of critics and hardcore Tori fans have said. I didn't buy or have yet to listen to Scarlet because--and this is just my personal view--it is too soon to be making artistic statements using 9/11 as an armature. Just me, but the only ones who have that right, even now, are those who were there that day. I found Spielberg's War of the World so off-putting for that reason, that the narrative fell apart. Kind of creeps me out to have that day become the foundation of a summer blockbuster. Again, that's just me.
Back on topic. Listening to Patty Griffith's Living with Ghosts right now.
Luddy loves the blues.

The Rolling Stone does the blues, I've been listening to this over and over. its not even mine.

I didn't think Scarlet's Walk used 9/11 as a crutch much. "I Can't See New York" is the obvious one, but anything else seemed subtle enough for me to not recall right now. Then again, I'm not THAT well-read on the background of the album. I just know Tori was influenced by a lot of Native American culture at the time.
Interesting fact: Tori thanks Haskell University, a Native American college in Lawrence, Kansas, the same town the University of Kansas is in. It's tucked away in a corner of Lawrence, kind of hidden and the area looks like a ghetto of sorts. It's sad. I don't know how Haskell helped out, but if I knew about it earlier I would've done an article on it. The timeliness is lost now.

really looking forward to Pharrell's album "In My Mind." He may be a silly rapper, but the singles I've heard in the club are sick. I don't think people are ready for it, but I hope I'm wrong on that. Yez zir.

Do you know the new release date? I know it was supposed to be released back in Nov of 2005, but I don't know what happened.

Last I heard, its supposed to drop in Feb. Amazon has a funny release date:
Haha, yeah I saw that release date from Amazon. I figured it couldn't be right. February, cool, thanks.

Yes! I love that, I've had the same album spinning all morning.

I keep making you mix CDs then seeing you're already listening to what I put on there and making new ones.
I give up.
You're getting this one and you're gonna act surprised and say 'oh my god your taste is so original and you totally hit the nail on the head'
i guess i should be happy i'm choosing music you like at least. i really wanted to make you a CD with a couple bands you hadn't heard anything by yet or something. damn.

Its all good. I should have given you a tip or something, but I'm sure it'll rock. There is a certain sound I'm starting to dig more often, but haven't ventured to far in. Its what I like to describe as spazy-rock-with-a-bit-of-electo-and-some-screaming. You know Blood Bros, Xbxrx, Idiot Pilot, Test Icicles, Kill Me Tomorrow, Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, Death From Above 1979, etc.
When you posted in the "what you're listening to" thread, I was impressed by some of your picks because I've heard of those artists, but never heard them. And I remember saying to myself, one of these days, I'll listen to those groups or get into that genre(s) later. Heck, I say that to myself everyday, which is probably why I keep listening to more stuff.
Test Icicles are fucking awesome. I'm seeing them on the 26th of January. I hear they suck live but that might be bullshit.
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Radiohead - The Bends
at any given time (these days) I am obsessed with either or both of these albums.
Hau Ruck by KMFDM
I'm listening to Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, why did no one tell me about these guys before? This whole time I've been thinking that they were some kinda weird metal band, probably because of their dodgy name. Then I downloaded a crazy mash-up of one of their songs and a Beastie Boys song and it sounded quite good so got the album and it turns out that they're actually quite pleasant indie type stuff.
!
At the moment:
Tom Waits-Small Change
Jeff Buckley-Grace
Filter-Short Bus
The Clash-Greatest Hits
Coheed and Cambria-In Keeping Secrets of the Silent Earth
Tom Waits-Closing Time
Weezer-Pinkerton

Remember that thread that was like this one only for DVDs? As if we'd be watching DVDs over and over again like listening to albums?
GUYZ! I CAN'T STOP WATCHING CON AIR! IT'S LIKE A DRUG.
lmao
I forgot to add The Jenerators self titled album on there. Mostly because I listen to all 3 Jenerators albums pretty much at once (bought them all as MP3's off of indieeclectic, so they don't really "spin" but they're constantly on my playlists...) One of two good bands to have actors in it. the other being 30 seconds to mars.

The Thermals - Fuckin' A
Ghostface Killah - Fishscale
Madlib - The Beat Konducta
Why? - Elephant Eyelash
Belle & Sebastion - LateNightTales
