I need a new tv series to devourrrr.
Curb. What a great show.
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
I made a thread asking if Hung was any good and before it got deleted it said that you guys talked about it here.
It was mentioned once in a throwaway blurb...
Has anyone seen it?

why was it deleted?
I love Misfits. Can't explain why, but I really do.
Yo man! Next time, I kick your ass! That'll be that!
Breaking Bad has been rocking my world.

You've been gone awhile!
I hope this doesn't become a habit.
What do you mean by habit? Do you mean rocking my world so much I've started my own meth lab in the basement? That I've started a drug ring made up mostly of my nephew's 2nd grade friends? That I've already had to kill a hooker and hide her in the attic? If thats the habit you're referring to, then yeah maybe it has become one.

rock is a bad habit to break was all i was trying to say.
It's not as yummy as meth!

I'm loving this as well. Nearly finished Season 1 boxset.
Awesome, the best is yet to come. I'm currently 'streaming' thru season 3.

Dead Like Me should be watched.
And I loved every single season of Weeds.
Skins
Being Human
Degrassi because I can't help it.
The Ricky Gervais Show
Lie To Me
Psych
Charmed
The Tudors
Ally McBeal. I am actually watching the show from the beginning now. I forgot how funny and odd it was. I love it.
Good arms vs bad arms will win hands down.
I'd been gone a while, and then I was gone some more.
Still lovin' on the first series of Misfits, though.
("Us, superheroes? In what kind of fucked up world would that be allowed to happen?")
Yo man! Next time, I kick your ass! That'll be that!
I don't know if I put The League in here before. Just in case, I'm putting it in here now. It's passed Always Sunny as the best sit-com on tv!
Forgive me if some of these have already been mentioned:
Brotherhood
Firefly (followed by the movie Serenity)
Deadwood
Extras
Dan is Awesome: The Series (not real)
Hey, look at this mother fucker!

well, shiver me timbers!
How's tricks bros? Tricky, I hope.
Oh, to stay on subject - Sons of Anarchy - Supposed to be based on Hamlet, but loosely, if at all. Mostly it's outlaw bikers commitin crimes
Hey. I kinda sorta remember you!
Actually, the more I think about it, you were one of the major players on this little site of ours.
Me too. I just finished season two. Damn! What a show.
Misfits will probably be next. My brother just anhilated the first season and said he loved it.
I think I'm just gonna go to the library and see if they got season 1 for Breaking Bad. I can NOT get it together for watching it on tv. They even started rerunning it from the first season a few weeks ago and I still missed it!

I've only seen a couple episodes of Freaks and Geeks but it seemed to me like it'd be more for people growing up in the 70's. I don't think they said a specific year, but from some of the references to things going on at the time, it seemed like it was set in 1980.
If I want comedy I look to Freaks and Geeks or Arrested Development.
Both flipping funny but in different ways.
it is set in 1980
i had the same star wars sheets as that kid
and fruit rollups!
I heard a bunch of people killed themselves when Freaks and Geeks first premiered.
Said it hit way too close to home for some.

I second:
Arrested Development & Curb your enthusiasm.
They are both kinda slow starters though so give them at least a 2-3 episodes.

You can't spell manslaughter without laughter.
I'm gonna have to buy it now. Because Arrested Development gets me laughing every single time. And I've seen all three seasons countless amounts of times now. But It's still hilarious.
I thought that Modern Family show looked kind of dumb. But, if it's anything like Arrested Development, it's bound to be great.
The Best TV Shows I've Ever Seen:
1. The Shield (this is the most gripping TV I've ever watched -on many levels -someone else already addressed this show, but they're right on. Haven't seen a better pilot for a show, or a better finale. And somehow, for 7 seasons, the show remained consistently brilliant, and all around just fuckin' awesome. Perfect cast and chemistry -stellar writing, and great acting).
2. Breaking Bad (this could be my new #1 if the next couple of seasons are as good as Season 3. I was a faithful fan of Breaking Bad during seasons 1 and 2, but fell in love with it during Season 3. It became a whole new show).
3. The Sopranos
4. While I agree that Damages is a good show and not what people think, only Season 1 held up for me. Damages Season 1, standalone, is some of the best TV I've ever seen as well -however Season 2 was horrible, and Season 3 was Good, but not Great. Think the original Matrix vs. Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. That's Damages. Season 1 like nothing you've seen before, and the next couple of seasons not really anything you want to see again.
5. Mad Men. Lots of people dislike this show and think it nothing more than a soap opera, but if you're a writer, and you want to learn the art of Subtlety, then this is the best I've seen.

They're all great shows, Nathan. I especially loved The Shield too. Though I don't think I've seen all 7 seasons. Maybe the first three. But that was a long while ago now. And I've been losing my shit over Breaking Bad recently. Seasons 1 and 2. Haven't seen 3 yet. But can't wait to.
I'm currently devourrrring Californication. I'll be starting season 3 manana.

Like!
Slow down, Frank. You can only get hold of the first four episodes of season four right now, so if you take it a little easy, you'll be able to hook into season four, which is set to be way better than season three, which was still pretty funny, but not a whole lot happened. I think season 2 is still my favourite. I just loved Lew Ashby and that whole story arc.
Slow down? I'm really not devourrring it, if thats what you were referring to. I was just making fun of the thread title.

I know. I just assumed you meant you were watching it fast. Back to back.
Gotcha. I've actually watched the last two seasons within the last week. I don't think that's horribly fast.

Nah, it's not too fast. I'm pretty sure the first times I watched seasons 2 and 3 i watched them in one sitting. That's dumb. I wish I could do that with season 4.
Don't forget there's a Californication-specific thread somewhere if you're keen to chat more extensively about anything. I know, I'll be down. And I think it's safe to say Pete would be all over more Californication talk.
I would back up 'oz' all the way. My favourite show of all time. Storyline, acting and tension was all top notch.
I'd also recommend 'Monkey Dust' for some dark animated comedy.
I liked renting this show because they had like 8 episodes on one disc. It's a fun show but there are episodes where barely anything happens and you just want to get on to the next episode.
****microscopic spoiler for beginning of season 4*******
Like this past episode. Nothing really happened to Hank except they introduced a character just to have him die off in the same episode!
I would like to recommend "Boardwalk Empire", but it's not as good as it should be...
I've only watched 3 episodes though, and it's good. But with so many delicious ingredients I hoped it would be a lot better, but I'll keep watching.

You're perfectly right, man. But that character definitely supplied some top-notch entertainment, and I have to say I wasn't expecting that little, if rushed, plot twist.
I think the major event that happened in the recent episode is
----------------------SPOILERRRRRRRRRRRRRR, MOTHERFUCKERS!------------------------------------
Hank's realisation that Karen is off him, and is seeking happiness once again, and maybe Hank can't provide that for her any longer. And that he can't continually fuck-up and expect everyone to bail him out and be fine with it. As much of a pessimist as he is, I think, deep down, he's really an idealist. And reality is really starting to smack him in the face now.
Also, wanna take this to the Californication thread?
If you like crime drama, the French series Engrenages/Spiral is worth checking out, three series so far.
Spooks(MI:5 I think in America) is a fabulous British spy/thriller series.
Another vote for Skins, we are onto the 5th series here in Britain, series 1 and 2 are the best so far though, dipped a bit during series 3 and 4. The new series looks promising. And Misfits.
Carnivale - nice to see this get a few mentions, incredible, mad they axed it.
Black Books - fab British comedy series
Spaced is a must have, amazing.
If you like gritty drama, then a sequel mini series to the film This Is England, called This Is England '86 was a fantastic 4 episodes long. A Christmas special, and another series based during the 90s are coming soon.
The Mentalist or Californication.

I second Spooks/MI5.

Justified and Archer.

The Mentalist isn't a very good show, but we still watch it every week, because it's the only watchable thing on tv at 21:30 on wednesdays.

There are a few LOL moments on Eastbound and Down...I really like every once and awhile on that show it takes a direction you don't expect...like the ending of season 1 (at least I didn't see that coming).
Check out Curb Your Enthusiasm too. That is funny as hell. If I remember right, season 3 of Curb has Larry opening a restaurant, and the end of that season had me laughing until I cried. Seriously. I almost pissed myself. And the last season they just aired of that show had a Seinfeld reunion. The last season of Curb was just about as good as ever.
If you are on the fence about Curb, go on Youtube and type in Curb and Leon, and you'll see some of the funniest shit ever.
