House
We've probably already got a few of these, but I figure with the new season coming up we can start a new one.
Anyways, I've only started watching this show the past month or show, but with all the USA channel and Bravo channel marathons, I think I'm caught up. Turns out it is a pretty good show after all. But that might just be because I'm popping Vicodans along with him.
I like all the Sherlock Holmes parallels, but have they ever had one with a Moriarty for him? Have they ever had Stephen Fry guest star? He should play his Moriarty and be all friendly and gregarious and religious but most importantly be as good at diagnosing shit as House is, if not just a tad bit better.
I don't know how many more seasons they'll run with this show, so they better hop to it.
just seems like a perfect role for him as his "nemesis." I just hope they don't wait till a series finale to do it.
In a bold move to make this thread into something, we could also discuss and post pictures of our dream houses.
I always wanted one of those old-timey plantation type home with a porch that goes all the way around the house. Kinda like Forrest Gump's house.

Here's a picture of a Forrest Gump style house, to allow others to better visualize it..

I wish there was a real Dr like Dr. House. I have a friend dying with no diagnosis who desperately needs some help. On another note House Killed Kumar

yeah, what was up with that anyways, anyone know? they're going along and then all of a sudden Surprise! Kumar dieded!
did he want out to go make that sequel or what?
A little spoiler warning would've been nice, as I hadn't got that far in the season yet..
Also this thread should be turned into more of an open House thread, about anything House.

well, it was from like 2 years ago.
And it is about everything House. From the tv show to the White House to Maxwell House!

Funny enough he got a job working for Obama as Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement so he wanted to leave the show so they just killed him as he broke their contract.
Sorry about the spoiler but it was a long time ago. I just figured everyone already knew.

Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement
What the hell! I can understand being all starstruck by Obama and wanting to be any kind of part in his administration, but talk about a mouthful of words for a bullshit title.

Its basically a PR gig since hes an actor. He is also a professor at a university sometimes on Asian American Studies and on Teen films... go figure.

I don't think House can have a Moriarty. Moriarty can't just be a competing, genius doctor. He has to be the polar opposite of House, which means he would have to create diseases to simulate evil. It'd be very fuckin' difficult to have THAT without making House into a full blown detective, which defeats the purpose of having a Sherlock-like DOCTOR. The only sensible, although ridiculous, way of introducing a Moriarty "figure" is to have the writers come up with some new, fictional, elusive disease that House has to figure out how to cure, but it always evolves or it changes its behaviors, thus its cure, depending on which part of the body it's infecting. Call it the "M disease," or some shit. But I don't think I'd have any respect for the writers if they actually did this... but then again, I'd have far more respect if they were able to pull it off.

That would be a different show altogether. More like Re-Genesis which I miss. That show got all kinds of crazy with viral outbreaks.

even if they don't build a character as a Moriarty, I still want to see stephen Fry show up as the complete antithesis of House.
They ran that episode with Mos Def yesterday, where the whole thing takes place from his paralyzed point of view. I was all like "Hey! I really liked this episode the first time I saw it. When it was on MASH!!"

But what's a complete antithesis if not some guy who goes around infecting people with viruses that have complex symptoms? If it was some competing doctor, there would be no antithesis there, unless he's portrayed as a good guy who's really evil, infecting people in the hospital, but I don't think he'd last very long as people would catch on pretty quick, nor could his motivations be justified. I also considered some kind of lawyer that keeps trying to shut House down as a doctor, but that wouldn't be interesting at all. House isn't a lawyer, so he couldn't do anything to oppose this guy, and this would partially turn into a courtroom drama, which also sucks.
The only thing I can imagine is another good-hearted doctor coming in and always being at odds with House about what a patient has. Win some, lose some. But then House loses credibility, and his greatest strength is diminished, ultimately making him unimportant as a character.

I don't think they have to be at odds or anything. They could even show how the both come up with the right answer, just with different methods of doing so.
And I don't think it would cause him to lose credibility. If anything, it would make him even more human. Maybe it's not even a question of him getting something wrong and the other guy getting it right. Maybe have House get to the right answer but the other guy just gets there first. I think that would challenge him even moreso.
No doubt. But what makes House so intriguing is his nigh-inhuman intellect and its toll on his ability to connect with the world. That's his entire character. Having a secondary character that would match his intellect WOULD take away from people's interest in House, because either he'll be an exact copy, with minor superficial changes, or he would be more happy-go-lucky, "I have no issues with the world, and my smarts don't hold me back" which also takes away from the message House gives off as a character. That episode where they diagnose the super genius physicist who tried to dumb himself down using cough medicine because he had the same problem as House is the most blatant example of what makes House so interesting.

I just now realized that Cuddy is the Risotto broad from the old Seinfeld show!
Cuddy might be my favorite on the show.
Eagerly awaiting season 7 of this. It's time for some Huddy action!

Dr. House did have a Moriarty, it was his own mind. He was part of a hallucination after he was shot at the end of season 2 by a former patient. His name was Jack Moriarty. The episode was called No Reason. In the hallucination he was the man who shot House but I don't know if that was the real name of the shooter because house woke next to the guy in the ICU, but that all turned to be going on inside House's head. Great episode and bonus you get to see a testicle explode on Chase. I really like the idea of House being his own worst enemy. But, Fry and Laurie was great and would also love him on the show. This bit below is my favorites.

haha, gotta love fry and laurie. haven't seen many sketches but i've loved them both in blackadder since i was a kid. haven't really watched house either, should maybe invest in a box set. stephen fry's book "the stars' tennis balls" is really good. keep meaning to read more of his work.
Ah, Blackadder, Python, The Young Ones, and old school Cheesy Doctor Who. My wasted youth beckons me back

Hugh Laurie also wrote an Excellent book called The Gun Seller, I've read some of Stephen Fry's books and Laurie's is much better by far. ALso, Season 7 of House starting this Monday, mmmm

Watching new House right now, had a fit of hysteria in the first few minutes

Stephen Fry on House would be the best collaboration as the two are always hilarious together. There has been a bunch of threads on Stephen Fry's website forum asking the same question. I look forward to the next time they work together..
