holy crap
Pink sold out a long time ago. Course, she never was very cool, so it didn't matter.
Yeah, that was kinda creepy when I was flipping through the channels and saw Jewel doing some poor attempt at a pop song and dance routine.
Yeah, but Jewel is like.. I dunno.. It's just so weird. I don't really listen to her music, but I heard a new song of hers being played in a thrift store and I was like... wtf.. hip-hop Jewel?
i would like an avatar of two guys sodomizing each other...
disx, can you help me out?
wtf IS up with jewel...or as i like to call her, drool. next thing you know, she'll be getting that snaggletooth fixed and remaking a donna summer song with mandy moore, avril lavigne and missy elliot...
I remember an interview with her where she said the video and the song were made to make fun of the everchanging fads. I dunno, I randomly read People magazine and that's what I remember her saying.
Maybe, but to those of us who don't give enough of a shit to actually look into it - she just looks like she's succumbed to those fads. That's the danger of mocking pop culture - you're likely to get mistaken as merely joining the crowd.
I think we should come up with a new name than "pop'' because ''pop'' covers a lot of things. Such as Smashing Pumpkins, who were catagorized Dream Pop on a few of their albums.
Disx, I have trouble reading your posts will all the sexual women surrounding them.

That's the point. Maybe this way people will think I'm actually posting something worthwhile, being distracted and all.
I do get a weird vibe from you now that you know about everything. From your old avatars, you seemed more reckless and adolecent(but still smart). And now, for some reason, you are all knowing. It's amazing was two girls kissing can do to our heads, and I'm not even a big fan of girls kissing(doesn't arouse me).

She gets that toof fixed, I'll make her stop pleasuring me orally. It's the onlything truly attractive she ever had going.
Jewel? I thought she died after she made that piece of crap last album with that "Hands" song.
There is hope, but not for us.
Finally came across this (been tyring to remember where I heard it)... http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1430602/19981125/nulljewel_pop_.jhtml
I thought she said it *wasn't* a satire on that stuff, but that she accepts that she's a product or something like that.
I could understand her doing a song like that to make fun of whatever it is it makes fun of, but then the entire album wouldn't be like that and she wouldn't dress and act like that on talk shows promoting her cd.
It's sad. I loved her, not the singles that were released, but live stuff and all that. I liked her voice, now it's so wasted.
Jewel was the last person I'd expect this to happen to.
Liz Phair sold out to pop too, it's kind of weird that all these people are turning. Though Liz Phair is quite self aware of her transition. I don't much listen to either but I keep hearing about them both now.
who the hell is liz phair
That's pretty much what I said a few weeks ago
It's quite sad. I used to love Jewel (in my younger and more impressionable days). Last I heard, she wanted to release a country album, then I see her new CD with her wearing some slutty pink tubetop and singing songs that she probably didn't write.
That was the cool thing about Jewel-- she didn't really give a shit about that poppy stuff, wrote her own music, and accompanied herself. Now she's just another blonde girl.
Mother Superior: "Would sir care for a starter? Some garlic bread perhaps?"
Renton: "No, thank you. I'll proceed directly to the intravenous injection of hard drugs, please."
There's just never enough room for all the quotes that seem necessary.
Hell, when you write a song with words like, "My hands are small I know, but they're not yours they are my own," you gotta make some serious changes. I haven't heard her attempt at dance music, but what the hell, it can't be any worse than "Hands" was.
Then again, if anyone read her poem book, one might have suspected such a hideous thing.
That poem book always made me wonder. How can someone so naturally talented, and have some catchy/thoughtful songs release a book of something so bad.
ani hasn't sold out ever.

I agree. I didn't think it was possible. Some of those poems are so...... deeply-shallow? It's an oxymoron, but for some reason it makes sense in this situation.

The book wasn't Vogon poetry kind of bad, but it wasn't good enough to be published on its own merit.
It was the same kind of poetry every 17 year-old girl "with something to say" writes. If she was a non-celebrity, it never would have made it past the receptionist's desk. Just like Keanu's band never would have gotten to make a major label record. Sure, neither was the be-all and end-all of suckage, but neither are particulary worth your or my hard-earned time and valuable money.
well, it's still one more book than i have published.

Meaning, what?
meaning at least she's published. meaning i'm not, so i really can't say anything about her writing skill compared to mine, because i've never been published and she has. so she must have *something* going for her that i don't. so if i criticized it, it would come across as jealousy. and that's not something i want to do. so...
