hmm music.
I'm not sure if a similar thread was posted before but here it goes,
what's your favorite genre of music?
mine would be umm screamo, metalcore, emo, triphop, nu-jazz and some experimental grindcore. hehe

metal and trip-hop, trip hop seems to be taking a slow trip out as of late, im not seeing as much massive attackish music around...hopefully team sleep will catch on once their album drops and get the genre some mainstream attention, who knows, even radio play.
Then again, I might be wrong.
it will change tomorrow but for now because i'm in a good mood i'm gonna say SKA

I can't stand the word 'genre.' It's so........MTV. I listen to MUSIC. If it sounds good to me, I spin it. Lately, I'm into Coheed and Cambria, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Piebald, OK Go, and Braid. Some of my all time favorite bands are the Beetles, Incubus, Our Lady Peace, the Juliana Theory, and at least 300 million more. Ok, thats an overstatement.

The most annoying thing is those who hate mainstream for simply being so. I have a friend who somtimes gets too annoying with this. He hates the Beetles because they're too big so instead he adores the Beach Boys. I hate the fucking beach boys. The most annoying music(if it can even be considered music) I have ever heard. He has nothing else to support his opinion. I shove down his throat how revolutionary the Beatles were and he conjures up some false argument on how they're plagarizers or something.
mainstream isn't necesserily 'bad', they are just too, umm most of them sound the same.. that's why I guess people who are into underground music doesn't seem to like the 'mainstream' bands because they found themselves a different style of music that a minority listens to and they simply enjoy that kind more than mainstream.

Thank you a7fold. I've been getting into alot of lyrically strong music lately. Coheed and Cambria I've been listening to for about a week now, really dig them. But I've been into the Juliana Theory for about a year and a half, amazing music. When I listen to a band for the first time I delve into the lyrics. I am completley blown away by Ryan Adams and Wilco, and wish I found out about them sooner. Oh well, it's all gravy now.

No sir, I've never heard of Open Hand, but I'll check them out. And since you said emo, yes, most of the bands I really enjoy do get shoved into "EMO." But lets think about that word. To call a type of music "emo," implies that other music contain no emotion. Which I think we all know is false. Nothing can be created without emotion of some sort. Lousy MTV with their genres. GRRRRRRR.

Metal, Punk (real punk- all different kinds 'cept pop shit), Hardcore, non-mtv hip-hop, jazz (Louis Armstrong is amazing), classic rock, classical (Ludwig van)
Shit I don't like: EMO (the crying on stage is a bit much for me), those "money cash hoes" rappers on mtv, typical college music (ie DMB)
haha i love that you call dmb "typical college music"
You are what you love
not what loves you
DoNotTrip has it nailed for shit I don't like. But I'll go in depth some more.
Bands that THINK they're hardcore, Disturbed and Linkin Park and all of that. They throw in a screamed word and they act like they're the shit.
Cash money rap, Big Tymers and shit. I'm really not into rap... I think the whole thing is pretty beat, esspecially the mainstream shit because all of it is done with the Neptunes... but there's some pretty good underground stuff... but I still can't say I like it.
DMB. Just can't stand it.
Emo. Your girlfriend probabaly dumped you because you're a whiney fucking woman.
And one last thing... you guys know NewFoundGlory? One of their guitarists, Chad, left a great hardcore band called Shai Hulud for them.
I hate all sellouts.
Everybody is a sellout. Unless of course you work for free. And how many of us do that?

You know what I meant. I meant sellouts like Staind who completely changed their style overnight.
Pearl Jam
Ani Difranco
Eminem
Dr. Dre
Fugazi
Red Hot Chili Peppers
That's what in the player right now. PS - Labeling music is something that's going to change in the future. There will be no sellouts, and there will be no genres.
PPS - I have this crazy sick desire to get Christina Agulerria's album. But it has nothing to do with that one video. Think I should?
hardcore = emo with substance
Then again, I might be wrong.
substance = liquid solidified
*shrug*
If I like it, I like it.
debacle is a verb
You know what I meant. I meant sellouts like Staind who completely changed their style overnight.
Yeah, dude, but it's just evolution. It'd be boring if you put out the same album over and over again. The only thing that stays the same is everything changes.
