Greatest Hits Albums You Don’t Own But Probably Should...
Awake - The Best of Live
I didn't know it was a "best of" album because I never read past "Awake". Good album.
Mom's gonna fix it all soon.

Great compilation if you're looking to get into these early electronic/synth music pioneers. This is the best of their earlier material (which I prefer) but there's also another good comp that covers 83-87.
I wish there was a good Gary Numan greatest hits, but there really isn't. Mostly I just tell people to listen to The Pleasure Principle and Replicas.. and a smattering of songs from the later albums. Some of his live albums would do as a serviceable introduction, I suppose. Live at Shepherd's Bush Empire is pretty epic.
Yeah, I totally forgot this. You need it.

Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.

yes
And you need some Miles Davis
They just came out with an insane Miles Davis collection that has 43 albums in a custom trumpet case for almost $800!
Anyway...and anything by Ray Charles even the covers he does sound like an original of his. Damn even his Pepsi commercial was awesome.
Just have to share this as an example
The problem with Jazz artists, Miles in this case, is that there is not effective "Greatest Hits" comp.

Yeah, there's just too much good material for it to be summed up that briefly.
Not a greatest hits per se, but the Bill Evan's Trio's Complete Village Vanguard Sessions is pretty great introduction, I was introduced to Evans via the Sunday at the Village Vanguard album, but this is a more complete 3 disc set. Reccomended.
Does anyone else not really care for Jazz? Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one. Maybe I am.
I'm sure you'd be able to find a type of jazz you liked, it's a pretty wide-ranging genre. I would say that generally I like jazz, but there are definitely types of jazz that I don't like. The really experimental noisy stuff I can't see the point of most of the time. I like it to still have some semblance of a theme or melody. I also think seeing jazz live helps to enjoy it more, something about the total immersive experience really brings it to life for me.
Yeah, I'm the same, Kit. I love me some Gyspsy Jazz.

And yeah, you really have to own this. Creedence is a must in everyone's record collection, or mp3 collection as it goes these days.
Not everyone can be as fortunate a son as you, Matt.
Yeah, I know it was bad.
Mom's gonna fix it all soon.
Good Golly, Miss Mena, stop being such a Proud Mary when it comes to your posts. And, (to chuck in a couple of obscure ones) What Are You Gonna Do, when you're Lookin' For A Reason to throw in a pun?
bad puns on the rise!
Ha!
buncha old fogertys.

it was me, and I definitely prefer listening to the albums as is, on vinyl, but I can't take a record player with me in the car, ya dig?
yeah, i dig. Also, this thread made me like you at least a thousand times more, and i already really thought you were cooler than ice cold.
aw, thanks Matt! For the record, you're pretty damn cool yourself.
and also for the record, I wish there could be a record player in the car. I guess I could get one of those usb turntables and rip all my vinyl to mp3 but that seems like a heck of a lot of time and effort
