Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
I can't help myself now. i've listened to their song Tiny Light about 400 times in the last three seconds, so i must make a thread for them.
this chick, Grace Potter, damn. she's a babe. she plays guitar. she plays organ. her pipes are incredible. and she writes her own music. damn damn damn.
seriously, guys. i'm so into this right now.
they're the shit. deal with it.
aw, come on dude! you're gonna give my thread the second-post syndrome. fuck.
Gracey doesn't deserve this kind of treatment.
I wish I could play guitar, so I could be in a band with a woman like her.
See what you've done! Fucking second post syndrome. Fuck it.
yet another music threadfail brought to you by Matthew O'Donnell. This threadfail wouldn't have been possible without the loving support of our sponsors Fano and Biffb.
How are you gonna' post up in this bitch without adding Things I Never Needed??
Lovelovelove this song. And I'm trying to load Tiny Light on my slow-ass work computer so I can finally hear the whole thing.
I have learned Things I Never Needed and will post it in "Oh hi. A song for you" soon.
Also, the dudes in the band look like the coolest muthafuckas ever. I would totally be friends with those guys, rocking their pearl-snap button-ups like it's nobody's BUSINESS.
i was actually waiting for you, my dear. didn't want to post everything.
damn! that version of Mystery Train i posted is white hot.
when you finally load Tiny Light, i guess you'll be back to scream and yell about Grace's voice. Nat's actually a bit jealous because i have a huge crush on her right now.
also. just noticed they did a cover of Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit for the latest Alice movie.
Grace, it's okay! i'll save you from these cult-meanies. i think you're beautiful and i love your sweet soul voice.
Grace, did you know it's Bob Dylan's birthday today?
yeah, really. wanna sing mea song of his?
well, one of my favourites is I Shall Be Released?
god you're incredible. wanna get out of here?
Grace, i love that song. sing it again for all these guys, will you?
Gracey honey, you know the other day when we were down nawleens chillin'?
and you sang me that song with your sexy soul voice? remember, baby?
wanna sing it now?
don't be shy. you're fantastic. they just don't know it yet. i think this could be the one that wins them over.
yeah, go on. do it, baby!
Gracey, remember that time you played on that bus with massive glass windows so everyon could see inside, and they drove around while you played medicine? remember that?
well, let's reminisce, sugar-pie:
I see that you were on a rampage! I can't listen to it at work since my computer is helly slow, but I will I WILL!
she is not bad. Kind of reminds me of Nora Jones meets Cheryl Crow.
“The man of knowledge must be able not only to love his enemies but also to hate his friends.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
i know, right?
i know, right?
I don't know about that, Matt. I still say Susan Tedeschi trumps everyone else, but I do have a girl crush on Miss Grace, here.
i'm crushing hard in my pearl snap flannos.
Quit posting all the ways in which you are perfect!
this song's off the self titled album that just came out. it's so damn sexy. the groove is so down n dirty, and i fucking love it. can't wait for it to come in the mail--damn aussie cd stores not stocking Grace.
I can't see the videos so I'm not sure if you posted this one:
Pretty amazing. You'd probably like Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs
and this video just because I say so:
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
dude! i hadn't posted that video, but thanks, it's a great one. Nothing but the Water is one of my favorites and they really kill it in that lovely jam section, so nice choice.
fuck it takes some guts to get up and sing like that without any music to reference for pitch. and i still can't seem to get over how badass she is on the organ. it's damn hot. and the organ line in this song is killer, so it just makes it even sweeter. i'd kill to be in a band like this. playing harmonica, or just acoustic or something. ugh!
now: why have i not heard Holly Golightly before? seriously, i want to know? fucking amazing. thanks or gauging my taste so well, McKay. she looks pretty cute too. and a literary reference. nice!
and The Weight is simply one of the best songs written, no matter who sings it. it's just one of those songs. but you can't beat the Band playing it with the Staples Singers on The Last Waltz. shiiiiiit!
http://www.hulu.com/watch/164688/grace-potter-and-the-nocturnals-paris-o...
BOO! i can't watch it. apparently it can only be streamed within in the US.
That sucks, because it is awesome. It's only "officially" on hulu. Let me see if I can find it elsewhere.
The hulu version is the official video for the song, but here's what they did a couple days ago on Jay Leno.
Hahahaha. Shit. You already posted it. Oh well. The official vid is cool, so take a look when it gets released on youtube or something.
ahhh. yeah, Paris (ooh la la). it's the first track off the new self-titled album. pretty different to their other stuff. still them, just a bit more accessible to a wider audience, i think. a bit more commercial, i guess. Things I Never Needed is the last track on the album. Tiny Light's the first single. there's some other great songs on there: Medicine, Goodbye Kiss, One Short Night etc etc.
I still like it. I think mostly because I love that singing/screaming thing. I wish I could do that!
Also, where have you been??? I hate you.
fuck yeah. vocally this is by far the best album. by far. even though she was incredible in songs like Nothing But the Water, she has really excelled in this album. her voice is fucking incredible. i love it when she pushes her voice to the point of that crackling scream. damn.
and...where have i been? whatever do you mean? i've been here.
Whatev! I haven't reached my quota of Aussie accent in like, 400 days. Damn you, Matt. Damn you for fueling my accent-fire.
sorry, love.
i've only been speaking in a southern accent for the last three days anyway, so, i'd be no use to you now anyway.
howza 'bout i just type all me comments in aussie dialect. would that help ya at all, chicky?
I'm sure you sound downright gentlemanly. :] No need, though. I've got all the time in the world to peruse youtube for that Stackhouse guy. You've been replaced!
I've been trying to do a Cajun accent (sad, I know. I should be able to do a decent impression) for this series we're doing locally about Louisiana folklore. Ugh. I'm no good. All I've got is Russian, Irish, British, Jamaican, and kind of New Zealand.
series? as in show? what? you're acting? what? i've been replaced? what? shit.
Hahaha. Well Stackhouse won't actually talk BACK, man! It's only temporary.
And yes, no, maybe on the acting. I've always loved it and have been in a few local things, but not so much in the past few years. Then something became available and I'm maybe possibly going to do it. I don't know. I hate cliche' Louisiana stuff, though, and I don't really want to be a part of it if it's going to be all Voodoo Mama, Marie Laveau, pirogue, ridingalligatorstoschool-type shit.
ain't but nothin' wrong with fixin' to act.
did i do it right?
Haha. Impeccably.
you should follow in the aussie threads' footsteps and start a southern thread. i'd add heaps of cool shit to it. mostly bands and music, but still.

I love her voice! Where is she from?
