Good or bad, what was the first band you ever saw in concert?

My first one was Nine Inch Nails (i'm still amazed, 9 years later, that they even came here) with Pop will eat itself (eh..) and...um someone else I don't remember...I'm thinkin Helmet, or Ministry...I don't know. I may edit this later if I remember. Tongue

Pop may eat itself may be "eh," but Clint Mansell rocks so very hard.

I mean, how can you not like the man who wrote the REQUIEM FOR A DREAM soundtrack!!!

Heh, i don't know if they were actually bad or if I was just too excited to see NIN to care about any opening bands. Smile

My first real concert was two christian bands. The Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline.

My first non-christian concert was Third Eye Blind.
My fave. concerts are always the little local punk shows they have around here featuring like 8 bands and lasting for like 6 hours. You hear all kinds of wierd shit that way.

He tours all the time, just not right now, because he's in the middle of making an album.

I was taken to a B.B. King concert when I was about 9 or 10 years old.

First concert I went to that was just a bunch of kids with no chaperone, Bruce Springsteen, on his "Born to Run" tour... that was in '79 or so, so I was 14.

"because he's in the middle of making an album."

Yeah, someone sent me a leaked version of that, too, heh. Musically, pretty awesome. Of course, it's Manson, and from what I can tell (I haven't listened to it that much) the lyrics are a bit cheezy, but oh well, wasn't really expecting too much lyrical genius from MM, haha. Just fun stuff to listen, to, I guess. It sounds kind of like a mix of Antichrist Superstar & the stuff he did for the Resident Evil soundtrack. So yeah, I guess it's pretty good.

Anyhow - first show was Static-X and Powerman 5000. I think Chevelle opened for them, I forget, though...

it was good for a first show.

Well my actual first concert was the boy band 5ive (and i'm not ashamed! every girl is entitled to her boy band phase!), but the first half decent gig was Incubus (with Hoobastank and 311 as support) which fucking ruled cuz Incubus are my favourite band, but the venue sucked SO hard, and so did 311 (one of the dudes had a hard on haha), and i passed out haha how pathetic

I actually liked 311's S/T album. Either I was young and stupid or it was actually decent - don't remember.

Hoobastank? WTF kind of name is that? Haha... Wow. Rhymes with....... Scuba Tank! D=

Don't mind me. I haven't gotten much sleep lately.

OK, first show that i remember was van halen ~ the david lee roth years. back when he could actually JUMP! my parents tell me they took me to all kinds of shows when i was a kid, but either i was too young to remember, or i had a permanant contact high.

first unchaperoned show, however, was mc hammer. i won tix from the radio station Smile

I got to see Marilyn Manson with the antichrist superstar tour. I still can't believe he came here either...NOTHING comes here.

Anyway. It was fun. They had all that soap that comes down like snow.

Anyone see that stupid girl in a video or something that stuck her tongue out like it was real snow...then they show her making a face when she realizes it's soap she's eatin? That's so funny. I can't think of what it's from though.

Young enough to miss the 'Life after Death' tour, so ended up in 1993 at a local fest with local bands!!!
Played my first show in 96.

i think my first concert was megadeth and corrossion of conformity, or else it was megadeth openning up for aerosmith... i forget which one I saw first, both were pretty good, although I don't and didn't listed to any of the three bands much at all. they put on a good show.

Hell yes, that was my first decent gig as well (minus the Hoobastank and 311. We had some shitty local opener) and let me tell you it kicked ass. Incubus was awesome. I drove four hours to see them cause the Seattle concert sold out before I knew they were on sale. It was all good though. It was a surprisingly small venue so I was never more than 20-30 feet away from Brendan.

Afterthought: How the hell did I forget to leave Brendan Boyd off of my Homocrush list?

remember sha na na's show? in the opening sequence, they'd come out of the manhole and be jumping around, dancing? my brother and i were playing sha na na once when we were kids, and i was supposed to catch him as he jumped off this 1/2 wall we had in the dining room. i didn't catch him (oops) and he chipped his tooth on one of the chairs ~ the chair had a gouge in the wood, and my brother was (still) missing a little chunk of his front tooth.

My first proper concert was Badly Drawn Boy, when I was 13-so only three years ago. One of those concerts where everyone's stoned...they were apart from me anyway.

New Kids on the Block rock anyway; for christmas a friend bought me a tape of their cartoons. Everytime I see a hot guy walk past I hum the chorus line from 'You Got it, right stuff' or whatever.

I saw Hooberstank play once, and met 'em too. I was at an A concert and was on the Guest List. Hooberstank and Fenix TX were the supporting acts. One of the guys from Hooberstank came over and starting stroking my hair, and told me how he loved my woolly hat. Strange times.

who are the rest of the original members, by the way?
The original lineup consisted of vocalists Rob Leonard, Scott Powell, Johnny Contardo, Frederick "Denny" Greene, Richard "Ritchie" Joffe, and Don York, plus guitarists Chris Donald, Elliot Cahn, and Henry Gross, bassist Bruce Clarke, drummer John "Jocko" Marcellino, pianists "Screamin'" Scott Simon and John "Bowser" Bauman, and former Danny and the Juniors saxophonist Leonard Baker.

Sha Na Na's big break came with a booking at the Woodstock Festival in 1969; they caught on with the public and began a string of appearances at rock & roll venues and nightclubs. Gross left for a solo career in 1970 and scored a Top Ten hit six years later with "Shannon," something his old group was never able to do; Sha Na Na was largely a live act playing on nostalgia and entertainment value, which did not translate as well on record. In spite of internal problems including nervous breakdowns and the death of member Vincent Taylor from a heroin overdose in 1974, the group peaked in popularity in the late '70s, hosting its own syndicated television show from 1977 to 1981 and appearing in the 1978 film Grease. Screamin' Scott Simon co-wrote the song "Sandy" for the film; meanwhile, Jon "Bowser" Bauman continued his television career, co-hosting a morning show in Los Angeles and guesting frequently on several game shows. The group continues to tour with several original members still on board.
