Favorite Mini-Series
That is what they're called right...
Stephen Graham Jones posted about Harper's Island a few days ago on his facebook page. I loved that show. Then I started thinking, I really like mini-series in general.
I really liked:
- Point Pleasant
- The Lost Room
- Tin Man
- The Kennedys
- Generation Kill
Some I'm wondering about:
- Fallen
- House of Saddam
- 5ive Days to Midnight
- The Triangle
- Band of Brothers
- V
I feel like I'm forgetting some that I liked. I know that I used to watch them quite a bit a couple years ago. I'm sure I'll add to this more later.
What are some of your favorites? And which ones do you recommend?
Then Wonderfalls can be added to that list!
The Pacific (Leckie was played by a guy who played Simon in the 1990 version of Lord of the Flies, and being a 14-ish year old girl at the time, I totally dug it).
Band of Brothers ("Why We Fight" was the best episode, in my opinion)
The Stand (ha! just kidding!)
Captains and the Kings
I, Claudius
The Life and Loves of a She-Devil (the BBC series, not the movie with Rosanne Barr, of course - this BBC version was darker and far more sinister than the novel, which is one of my favorite books of all time)
Band of Brothers was amazing. I also watched several episodes of The Pacific, but it wasn't as good.
Mildred Pierce! Does that one count?
Mildred Pierce and This is England 86 are the only ones I've watched, and liked them both.
I agree with Imke on BoB and The Pacific.

Oh I was really looking forward to Mildred Pierce and then forgot all about it!
Michael Palin's Around the World in 80 Days
Michael Palin's Pole to Pole
Michael Palin's Full Circle
Also, a failed television series is most definitely not a mini-series.
A few of the episodes were good but as a whole I don't think it was that great. Kind of dragged towards the end for me. I did like the mother daughter dynamic as brutal as it was. Plus is was set in areas I'm familiar with.
I am Huge Fan of Mini Series. It tv Show is My favorite Series. It is Horror T V Show.Tommy Lee Wallace is the Director of this TV Show.

I'd like to say Law and Order UK but it's run more than one season even though every season is only about 6 episodes long.
The Pacific and Band of Brothers are both excellent, This Is England and Red Riding are also brilliant mini series from the UK
I really liked The Andromeda Strain, I thought that was a pretty well done series and the first part of the Battlestar Galactica was released as a mini series, absolutely amazing
Self improvement comes from trimming away the shit, not building up on top of it.
Mildred Pierce, North and south (BBC), Blackpool, Jane Eyre (2006), Sherlock (more than one series, but definitely mini-), Dr. Horrible's sing-along blog.
Yo man! Next time, I kick your ass! That'll be that!
Hey stranger!
I like Generation Kill
)
I am really enjoying My Mad Fat Diary at the moment. There are six episodes in total, and they're just aired episode 2 on Channel4. (Perhaps you guys overseas can find it through other means
)
Based on a memoir by Rae Earl, it's basically about a 16-year-old girl who weighs 16 stone and has recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital. It's set in Lincolnshire (North-East England) in the 1990s and the soundtrack is fabulous (obviously). Although it's very funny (and cringeworthy in places), I have been moved to tears in both episodes so far.

I think Big S would particularly enjoy it.
That does look cool.
Band of Brothers is my favorite.

The Pacific is the only one I've really watched all the way through and it was amazing. Was really surprised to find out the 2nd main character (Sledge) was played by the kid from Jurassic Park.
And Snafu was a motherfucker! (Minor spoilers. Also NSFW)
I think I've watch 80% of Band of Brothers and it was equally as amazing, but in an entirely different way.
And I pretty much count any show that only had one season as a mini-series.
