Elfen Lied
All the main guys have high male voices.
All the women have squeaky voices.
All the bad guys sound like a samurai warrior.
All the bishie teen guys have a soft spoken smooth voice.
EXACTLY.
You don't what the emotions are supposed to sound like in Japanese unless you speak it! I can't place him name, but the voice for Edward (see video above, pretty fucked) he's won awards for his acting, is in video games, etc. Can't think of the game, but it's an RPG strategy game.. think it has something to do with vampires. He's the main voice in that too. I don't did strategy-style RPGs. For too long. Penis.
Victor Mignola? I think thats his name.

If you've ever watched the Japanese version of Naurto, you'd know this wasn't true.
Also, as for not knowing where emotion is just because I don't speak Japanese, there are plenty of other things that give that away, just as the tone of voice, the facial expression, the gestures they are making. Body language is huge, and I'll stick with the original versions any day.

Yeah but ya said the voice acting sucked. Not the body language and facial expressions. They stay the same for each side haha. It's animated.
I know what you mean about Jap version of Naruto though. He wasn't squeaky in Japanese. I'll have to re-visit that one, I remember liking the theme of the show itself.
I ain't tryin' to hate dudie!!
Ugh, damn you, American.

HAHA!!
I LOVE reading Manga. Reading backwards is so fun.
I'm a book whore.
AND a whore.
Only fat, pocky-munching weeaboos who tape up the corner of their eyelids prefer Japanese dubs.
And Elfen Lied still looks like typical anime bullshit.
Go watch Baccano! or Darker Than Black instead.

Nah, I'm good thanks.
The Thread is about Elfen Lied, not what you prefer, Nancy.
You've been talking about all kinds of other stuff in here.
Yeah mainly people are suggesting great anime to me, not bashing everything I talk about. Just stop watching the post if you wanna argue.
I didn't create the thread for people to come in and bash on it; I wanted to discuss it.
Aw, someone's butthurt because somebody said bad things about Elfen Lied.
HAHA!! Nah you're right. But I'm jus' sayin... *shrug.
Maybe I'm on my period. Sorry. Really.
But I will definitely be downloading a shitload of the recommendations tonight! My best friend Gwendolynn was killed in a jet crash in France last month. I've been on a roller coaster ride of emotions, so I do apologize if I was a twat.
Please! Even if it's as negative as shit, say what's on your mind about you guys are right. It's an asshole day for me. And I mean it for real, I'm not being a passive aggressive dick this time.
I'm sorry.
Sorry to hear about your friend. That sucks.
Oh I give up! LMAO
Yeah. Ok. I watched all of Fullmetal Alchemist at your suggestion. It wasn't spectacular but it was captivating enough to make me see through it to the end.
It was like Bleach but shorter and with less filler, but also, less action.
It was what it was. I give it a B.
Whoa, I haven't checked this thread in awhile.
@mike:
Yeah, I've watched all of DBZ (as well as DBZ abridged [hilarious, and I love it]). To me, it should've ended with Goku dying on Namek, along with Frieza. That would've been the most poetic ending. I have a feeling that that's where it was supposed to end when they were writing it, but anime is notorious for crowd-pleasing (they're basically action soap operas), so they had to make EVERYONE super saiyans, and keep the series going. That's why I usually appreciate mini series a lot more. The original Dragon Ball was... just fun. The fights were more fun to watch, and the jokes were actually funny. Also, they couldn't destroy a planet with a punch. I'll accept DBZ up to the Frieza saga, because the epicness seemed necessary for the plot.
Now for Yu Yu Hakusho. The first saga was great. The Dark Tournament saga, I feel, was the show caving into the action anime formula. Didn't like it. It all came back to greatness, though, with Chapter Black. That was definitely my favorite part of the series. It had a lot more depth, I felt. Sensui was far more interesting than Toguro, although I'm sure many would disagree with me.
Death Note's premise doesn't interest me too much. I think I'm done exploring anime, anyway.

DBZ. I agree to a certain extent. I believe it should have ended after Cell (though they should have made Cell an alien or something, it still makes no sense to me that a robot from earth is stronger than a universal tyrant), because it showed that Goku wasn't needed anymore and Gohan could protect the earth just fine without him.
DB. Yeah, that was a fun show!
Krillin: "I can't fight him. He's too smelly!"
Goku: "You can do it Krillin! Remember, you don't have a nose!"
Krillin: "Oh yeah!"
Sensui was cool. He showed that being a spirit detective didn't always turn out so well.
Just 2 episodes of Death Note, I promise. Two of the smartest people in the world constantly outsmarting the other (one with a god complex and a magic notebook, the other trying to stop him), man it gets awesome with lots of oh snap moments.
These are cartoons, right?
Regular Show is pretty awesome.

Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
I thought we were focusing on animes. ??

Incidentally, the amount of Mordecai/Rigby Slash porn out there is truly impressive.

HAAH!! ANY kind of cartoon / anime is cool with me, I love the one posted above, although NOT a show I like to wake up to. It's very LOUD. I started watching FlapJack and I find him hilarious. And Metalocalypse. Good stuff.
Thanks for the continued info on DBZ. I'm guessing they edit a lot out for the US versions? Is it gorier / grimier with just JPN version? I don't know why I never "latched" onto that one. Maybe I just need to give it more time. I love to keep my options open and I got some good recommendations from subby socks, Darker Than Black sounds very interesting to me; just been a busy lil' whore lately and haven't had much time. Of course I have PLENTY of time for Farmville-2.
(Yeah, I'm one of those...) :-

Cool! I'm glad you gave it a go. Maybe I found it more than it was because the first time I watched it, I was rolling my face off. Dring the 7th episode : Mother - Pretty sure that was the Nina episode where her dad transmutates his 4 year old daughter with the family dog to make a chimera for the government. It broke my heart and scared the crap out of me. Supposedly Full Metal Alchemist : Brotherhood captures the Anime word for word as per the author. I don't think she was all that impressed with the first series.
I applaud your pluck for giving it a shot; it's quite a long series!
Thanks pepper-
I take it day by day... Just little things of hers laying around that kill me but I can't get rid of them. Her lotion, which of course smells just like her, I wear her hairband on my wrist at all times, a ring she gave me before she LEFT to go on the trip... and her hoodie. It's tough, but I'm getting there. I was on the verge of self-destruction. I'm glad it's gone... well.. leaving, rather.
Thanks for your thoughs pepper.
I thought he was very Tyler Durden-esque, preferring the order of chaos and all, sacrificing lives and bringing about the end of civilization to do it.
Okaaayyy, I just watched an episode on YouTube. Episode 8. It's very clever, buuut the ending was a tad unbelievable. The household was "too innocent"? C'mooon. But my interest is piqued. I might watch some more.

I kinda meant the first two, but whatever floats your boat.

We pretty much don't have to anymore now.
Also, I agree with Chris (Fano), Japanese>English. You don't need to speak Japanese, you have subtitles.
You're a smartass and I love it. Sorry, got carried away. MUCH more to it than that though. Suggest that one to your man!!
