'Dexter' - Showtimes kick ass show- Culties will love it!
Im watching the first episode right now and its great. Ive already read the two books but still Im loving it.
I still eagerly waiting on the next season.
It has the potential to go anywhere with where it ended in the first season. So much depth and possible growth that can follow.
it's sad when you don't have a television.
it's even more sad to know a showtime television shows excites orgams.

Are you watching it on FX or online? I'm rewatching the series with my boyfriend as it's being shown on FX...it's irritating to watch just one episode at a time but nice to watch it with company.

Im watching it on FX, I watched 3 episodes in 2 days and noI have to wait until next Sunday for the 4th. It is irritating that way but its better than nothing.

The thing that annoys me about this show is the opening credits. He wakes up and gets a shave. Fair enough. But then he goes on to have the least practical breakfast ever and gets dressed, putting his boots on before his t-shirt. Just watch it, it's bothersome.
I love the show...but hadn't noticed the boots/shirt thing, that is so stupid...who dresses in that order? bothersome indeed
I want to know why he's still stubbly even after he shaves in the opening credits. He's got like a permanent "Miami Vice" facial hair thing going on.
There is hope, but not for us.
I waant to know why he makes a gammon steak, eats it, then goes back to the stove, makes an egg and eats it THEN makes coffee. He is truly psychotic, I can imagine the voiceover now, "Any normal person would make their breakfast to eat all at once...but I'm not a normal person. I make each part of my breakfast separately, time-management be damned!"
I guess we can all agree that the credits are flawed.
I like them though because the production designer's name is Brandy Alexander.
There is hope, but not for us.
I just saw the first episode, for the first time, ever.
I'm going to watch the second, so it's sold me at least that far... but I don't know if I'm gonna absolutely love this show... We'll see...
New season starts Sept 30th woot!!
There is hope, but not for us.
The first two episodes have been leaked. I've resisted the temptation to watch them so far but I thought you malcontents might like to know.
Brandy Alexander also did the production design for My So-Called Life!
Can someone explain the appeal of this show?
I just got done watching season 1 and I'm still dumb-founded to it's popularity. After the first 2 episodes, i think I had it pegged pretty good. It seems like whoever wrote it got all their research by watching other movies about cops/serial killers instead of doing actual research.
I'm surprised the city of Miami hasn't protested this show yet because no way a police force is that completely petty and incompetent. I could see if they had one or two characters like that, but all of them? Come on! Not only stereotypical characters but also too much over-acting. There's no surprise or suspense. And really not that much gore.
What am I missing with this show? I kept on pushing through it trying to find whatever it was that has got everyone all excited but never found it. Too many times audibly groaning and palm-slaps to the forehead in astonishment at the stupidity.
The sister does remind me of succotash moon though.
I love you and I'm glad you're back, but BOO-URNS!
There is hope, but not for us.
That Bautista guy is the closest thing they have to a good fully realized character.
You think the characters are 2-D on the TV you should read the books - oy!
Nate, welcome back.
I think this show is super popular because Dexter is so overwhelmingly fucked up, when you think about it, and people fail to grasp how someone can be so... hollow.
Once you get past that, though, the show loses its appeal. This is exaclty why I hate TV. It eats your brain away with its mass stupidity. The only show I actually make a habit to watch is Psych on USA... another detective show. And a terrible detective show, but it's fucking hilarious, so I love it to death...

I'm taking it the books are even worse?
echhh

The whole "serial killer who kills serial killers" turned me off at first. There's just not that many serial killers to begin with for him to be going around killing them. They're not like starbucks coffeejerks. So I was kind of glad when they had him killing other folks.
But how many shows have there been with the main character fucked up? Too many.
Just being a fucked-up character doesn't make for a good show.
For the record, he doesn't just kill serial killers. He kills "bad" people. Later in the season, he kills a married couple that traffic and exploit illegal immigrants.
There is hope, but not for us.

Maybe it is different watching them all at once as opposed to watching weekly. But was anyone surprised or shocked at anything that happened? What got you to watch it from week to week?
Honestly? Because I relate to the main character in a certain way, and it interests me to watch how he deals with regular life situations. Other than that, I'm not impressed with this show that much.
You guys wanna watch a good detective show? Watch Monk (or Psych, if you're more in it for the laughs).
You wanna watch a good hey-lets-surgically-cut-people show? Nip/Tuck.

Can I just say that I fucking LOVE this show? I downloaded the entire damn season and am now making it my mission to get as many people as I know into it.
And yes, I love the sister. I stand by her acting, dammit. Her character could be my favorite on the show. She's such a dork. It's adorable.
