Deftones : Diamond Eyes and Rocket Skates : Official Videos
So I'm adding some credit to my iTunes account (a gift from the mom-in-law, she's nice) when I notice a new single from Deftones.
So I naturally go to Deftones.com for the pre-order, fill out the pre-order and download the au gratis remix that comes with it. (I never buy singles from iTunes if they don't have exclusive content as well. I'm patient enough for that, at least.)
It's great to see them releasing new material, what with the loss of their bass player late in 2008.
And here is the promotional video for the new single Diamond Eyes. I'm loving it.
Is anyone else as excited as I am for this?
UPDATE
You can also unlock and download the full length HD music video for their other single, Rocket Skates, which I highly recommend. That video is badass.
Go to http://bit.ly/rocketskates to unlock it. It's just a Twitter prompt thingy

Holy shit. I am hooked.
I would say Deftones easily makes up about 35% of sexy time playlist.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
I dig Rocket Skates better than Diamond Eyes but hearing Chino scream always makes me smile. Poor guy is going to blow out his vocal cords one of this days.
I hear you there. I feel like they're evolving two distinct sounds. One, an obvious offshoot of the old school DC Hardcore roots, and the other with much more melodic, dream pop influences, more like stuff you'd hear from Team Sleep. Speaking of, I wish we'd see some more Team Sleep sometime soon.

I don't know which single I prefer, because they both definitely represent Deftones at their best.
Chino's vocals and lyrics often remind me of Bjork in a very subtle way. I don't know how they do it, but they make some of the most amazing music. And Ruth is so right, there are so many sexytime songs created by the Deftones.
I can see the Bjork similarity to a degree. Chino is very poetic and nuanced in his approach to telling a story. He doesn't do it like anyone else out there. The same goes for their sound. Even a track like Pink Cellphone on Saturday Night Wrist is distinctly Deftones even though it's nothing like any of there other music. It has a dark, ambient back drop.
I've often thought of having a Deftones appreciation thread, maybe we could do that here.
Those in favor?

Here's the Rocket Skates video, for those who don't go to the trouble of unlocking it. It's on their Youtube channel, I guess.
EDIT: Hmm, doesn't seem to be working.
Well, this is the link. For some reason, it won't come up in the Video thingy-ma-bob.

Rocket Skates was playing on the radio the other day. I heard it a few weeks ago, because they posted it on Facebook. I am really happy that they're continuing to put out music. And that the music they're producing is good.
I'm all for a Deftones appreciation thread, even though the four of us are the only ones posting!
i like deftones too even if I chose the sade version over their cover. my ex was a huge fan but regardless i really dig their style. i'm not a music buff so i'm not sure how relevant my opinion would be on the matter but regardless i think the deftones kick ass.
Note: i'm buzzin the second white russian is kickin in folks
thank god
I heard their new single on the radio last night. I love it. They're such an awesome band.

I love the Deftones! I don't really know anyone else who's into them, though. I'm very much looking forward to this!
