While very good, calling it DEP at their best is a stretch. I think DEP at their best is Calculating Infinity. It was a sound that was more their own than anyone else's, whereas Irony has lots of different elements that veer them further away from what they do best. That was more expiermental due to the fact that they were working with Patton. The newer songs are quite as experimental (and suck a lot worse, thanks much in part to Greg Puciato). I like the screaming, head busting Dillinger that Calculating and Running Board gave us.

I fail to see what any of these bands you're mentioning have to do with this thread. I mean, MSI???

I think the term "hardcore" is far, far, far, far, far too broad and overused. When I think hardcore, I think of hardcore punk. However, these pissed off, screaming bands that wish they were metal are now called hardcore. Then, there's techno that's called hardcore. Given the title of the thread, I would assume he means hardcore music. Not pussified, toned down bands. The association between "death metal/hardcore" would lead me to believe that he is actually in pursuit of music that is "hardcore" and comparable in intesity to something like death metal. MSI is a sideshow circus act.

Adversary i just downloaded Sandbox magician and i must say that i do not care for DEP at all. I cant stand the singer he sounds like an emo singer and the zylophone or whatever it is that is going on in the backround gave me a headache. Dont take this the wrong way, im not knocking you or saying anything about your tastes, i just dont care for DEP.

Well i also d/l Cephalic Carnage and it was ok, nothing special to me. I just hear some Lamb of God which i thought was ok as well. Anyone have thoughts on Lamb of God.

Xylophone? Don't know what you were hearing bro. As for the singer, emo is about the last word that comes to mind. More hardcore than anything, not much emo at all. Not one to harp on genres here, but you've got your terminology all mixed up.

Well, not to try and sound like I'm saying something I'm not, but what you hear and what I hear are two drastically different things. I've got something of a trained ear, so Cephalic Carnage to me sounds like a lovely, mathematical ball of chaos, whereas you may just hear some growls, screams, and some drumming. But to each his own. As for Lamb Of God, they are shit and their bass drum trigger is horrible!

Ad i dont know what instrument i was hearing but in my opinion i dont really care for DEP or Cephalic Carnage. It doesnt sound like screams, growls and drumming to me, ive been listening to metal for a long time. I just am not up to date with the new bands. I know that it is not just a singer yelling.

By the way i wondered if you have any of your bands stuff, i would really like to hear it. If i remeber correctly you put some songs in a post a long time ago, i dont remeber listening to it but i would like to hear it.

Yeah, I can upload them for you if you'd like. Right now the only finished recordings I have are almost a year old and done live to 4 track, but considering that they sound damn good. I'll upload them shortly, but I'm about to pass out as I'm quite tired.

On that mix I'm the right guitar. Like I said, this was recorded in February, so we've improved drastically and gotten much tighter. Josh's lyrics are quite amazing, and all these songs he wrote when he was Mormon, so there's no swearing to boot. Thanks for the compliments! We should have a better sounding version of these songs out within a month *crosses fingers cause it's not fucking likely*.

Deicide is far too cheesy and cookie cutter, though I must admit to owning all of their CDs before Insineratehymn. As for Dying Fetus, their production and vocals kill any chance of them being good! That and their nerdy penchant for sweep picking major arpeggios.
