well that depends on your definition of "hardcore" most truely hardcore stuff all sounds the same and sucks, but some bands kinda linger on the outskirts

Mr. Bungle does lots of stuff, including some of the best metal riffs around. They are quite extreme, and shit all over most every band on the planet. Listening to Bungle, you can tell that Dillinger Escape Plan and Cephalic Carnage, much as I love them, are trying to clone Bungle.

Wrong, and all those bands suck. They are neither metal, nor hardcore. They are fucking pussy, whiny babies that scream out their anger and use distortion. If not for the distortion and the screaming, they'd be emo bands. This is the truth.

Snapcase's singer makes me want to punch myself in the face.

Yeah Snapcase sucks. I saw them open for BSF. Not a huge BSF fan either, but they put on a decent show and they've got some good tunes. The only band on that list I really like is the Blood Brothers. And only their new album, the rest is kinda blah..

Adversary's right, though. It's emo + distortion. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though.

Not only do I think that Six Feet Under are terrible, but they are generally accepted as the biggest joke the world of metal as we know it. And whoever said I didn't like Cannibal Corpse, I just said they aren't very good. The drummer is horrible, the guitars are pretty sweet, and the bassist rules. They wrote some really brutal and heavy music, especially for their day, but they're very cookie cutter in their approach.

Hatebreed sucks. I know...or at least hope no one on here likes them, but its true. I like some of At the Gates but I don't see a huge difference between them and oh say Atreyu or Hopesfall or FATA or any of those bands. I may not like the latter(s) but its one in the same genre wise. You can call me gay now or whatever; I'm not going to pretend I'm elite or that I know what I'm talking about.

dep is not one of them though

DEP tries to clone Deadguy, Naked City, and Human Remains.

i like some of the Locust's eariler stuff, when they had more grind in their sound. the new stuff is a little too much of the weird for the sake of weird bug people at the circus thing.

Um, have you ever heard Disco Volante? That album is 10X more technical than anything Dillinger Escape Plan could ever hope to achieve. The new DEP shit sounds like Incubus. I have a strong feeling it's going to suck, badly.

And just for reference, I'm sure if you asked DEP who their influences are, Mr. Bungle wouldn't be very far from the top of the list.

Yes, clone is too broad a term. They are using ideas that appear to be directly influenced by Mr. Bungle, not cloning. I should've clarified and not used such an extreme term.

adversary you seem to be a good authority on this could you give me a top hardcore song with a good breakdown in it...my friend keeps raving about them and i want to get a good idea of what the best kind sound like.
