Best Albums of 2009
In making this list, narrowing down only 10 is extremely difficult, since it's been such a good year for music. So lets say your favorite 10 or 20 albums of the year. In order if you would like, but that's especially difficult. And we have six weeks left, so this could very well change. But so far, here is what I have, in no particular order.
Isis Wavering Radiant
Dälek Gutter Tactics
Between the Buried & Me The Great Misdirect
Alice In Chains Black Gives Way to Blue
Les Claypool Of Fungi and Foe
Maudlin of the Well Part the Second
Mike Patton Crank: High Voltage (film score)
Mastodon Crack The Skye
Tom Waits Glitter and Doom
Converge Axe To Fall
Jesu Infinity
Kylesa Static Tensions
Baroness Blue Record
Absu Absu
Lamb of God Wrath
Pelican What We All Come to Need
Harvestman In A Dark Tongue
Thrice Beggars
Oh yeah, good call! I just heard the Shrinebuilder LP about a month ago, I couldn't believe what a good line up of band members it has.
muse-resistance

Hatebreed - Hatebreed
And I'm fairly certain Mudvayne will dominate in December.
Rome - Flowers From Exile
La Roux - La Roux
Other than that I'm pretty blank right now.
I think Animal Collective's 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' would be up there for me, and I enjoyed the albums by Atlas Sounds, The XX and Phoenix.
That was my indie hipster douchebag side. My jazz-snob douchebag side liked the latest albums by Matthew Shipp, Robert Glasper, Darcy James Argue and John Escreet.
!
Oh yeah:
Rammstein - Liebe ist fur alle da
Jamie T - Kings and Queens
Julian Casablancas - Phrazes for the young
Mumford and Sons - Sigh no more
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

i had no idea casablancas had a solo album. i've let the strokes down...
Did My Chemical Romance come out with anything this year? If so, that.
Big S, i'd say if you like JUlians solo shit, you've let the strokes down
takes some time to get into it, but his lyrics and melodies are pretty sweet after a while. grows on ya.

Mark Lind & The Unloved - Homeward Bound
Fever Ray
The XX
Dead Man's Bones (yes, that's Ryan Gosling)
Grizzly Bear- Veckatimest
It appears that most of you listen to drastically different music than me.
It appears that most of you listen to drastically different music than me.
Man, I know a lot of people with very similar music taste to me that LOVE that album, but I've never been able to get into it.
grizzly bear = no
animal collective = yes
!
whoops double post.
!
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
How did I forget.
Also, Fleet Foxes's self-titled.
I thought that was last year?
!
Michael Jackson - This Is It Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
I have not listened to a lot of shit this year, but the new Bat for Lashes and Au Revoir Simone might just be my fav albums in a long long time, and also the Flaming Lips' new album is the shit...
Zombi - Spirit Animal
Zombi extra proggy and still synthy and now with more guitar.

Click for the full album stream.
Graf Orlock - Destination Time Today
The third installment in the Destination Time Trilogy from Cinemagrind's finest.
Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Agorapocalypse
There's a song called "Dick to Mouth Resuscitation"!!!!
Brutal Truth - Evolution Through Revolution
It's fucking Brutal Truth with a new album!!!

Pretty good list there. I've been dying to check out the Fuck Buttons album. I saw them live in Bristol a few months back that they were really good.
!
You definitely need to hear their new album! It blows the first one out of the water! No vocals or guitar hardly at all, but the heavier electronic sound is phenomenal. Get it as soon as you can!
The Rural Alberta Advantage - Hometowns
The lead singer constantly reminds me of Jeff Magnum which is partly why I dug this album. Another reason is I find that I connect with a lot of thier songs perhaps cause I live in a rural community...?
Also Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
Quite a few gems in the album...
Hi, How Are You?
I was totes thinking this exact thing.
The Hazards of Love is the only album this year that's moved me in any way. I never listen to the last song though. Too depressing.
I really liked God Help the Girl:

I think you would like it Moonie.

Also:
Wilco (The Album) - Wilco
Bitte Orca - Dirty Projectors
Fever Ray - Fever Ray
Yonder Stands The Clock - Felice Brothers
Dead Mans Bones - Dead Mans Bones
There are a lot of albums I liked but haven't listened to enough to have a real opinion on yet.

There is no proper way to cope, no everlasting grace.
Just a flame on a river floating away.
Forge the Night Ahead - The Twilight Sad
Born Again Revisited - Times New Viking
Battle For the Sun - Placebo
Up and Down - She Wants Revenge
Sounds of the Universe - Depeche Mode
meh....prolly like 8 more.

Forge the Night Ahead - The Twilight Sad
Born Again Revisited - Times New Viking
Battle For the Sun - Placebo
Up and Down - She Wants Revenge
Sounds of the Universe - Depeche Mode
meh....prolly like 8 more.
OOOoo. And:
Whoracle - In Flames
Root of All Evil - Arch Enemy
And I second "Veckatimest" because of the song "Fine For Now". It's a great album, but that track takes the cake.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Chevelle- Sci-Fi Crimes
...I didn't see it mentioned, but it was probably my favorite album of 2009.
The Eternal by Sonic Youth. Not their best work but i still enjoyed it.
Also, Lungs by Florence and the Machine, I was impressed.
OK, yeah, I DLed the Animal Collective album, that's definitely on my list as well. It's even better than Strawberry Jam.
Violent Things, by the Brobecks
awesome album
Sunn O))) - Monoliths and Dimensions
This is why we can't have nice things.
Nobody feeling it for Them Crooked Vultures - self titled debut?
Variety is the spice of life. Buy the ticket take the ride!
The Horrors-Primary Colours
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- It's Blitz
douche
Filth by Venetian Snares.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
Omega. Que Tengo Que Hacer.
Daddy Yankee. Posse.
Armando Hernandez. La Zenaida.
Florence and the Machine. Lungs.
Allan Toussaint. The Brightest Smile in Town.
Levon Helm. Electric Dirt was pretty good too.
The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love.
beautiful music behind beautiful literature.
I love the Decemberists, I could put them on shuffle for days and never get bored. However, although I thought it was really well done, I didn't get into The Hazards of Love very much.
I ust listened to it the other day (thanks, Pallix!), but I love Motel Motel's "New Denver".
