avoid Bareback Mountain like the plague.
see, i do not get this
why go see a movie your not interested in? its a frickin movie ! why form an opinion out of something your not interested in other than media hype ? ive heard some people say that they went to see passion of the christ for this reason also, it puzzles me !
It frustrates me to form my own opinions soley from media hype/ backlash; i would much rather spend the 5.50 & the two hours of my time and come out with my own opinion.
Everyone! Be more like this guy ^^^
No.
Oh come on, he forms his own opinions and we should admire him for this.
Oh come on, he forms his own opinions and we should admire him for this.
Well you have a point, NO.
I hope you're recognising my sarcasm, shoutyman.
I hope you're recognising my sarcasm, shoutyman.
....yes. :grumble:!!!
Well at least he's gonna see it and form a proper opinion before trashing it in it's thread.

I'm just glad Vendetta is back, and more sarcastic then ever
I wouldn't recommend bareback anything.
I've never seen the passion of the christ.
Jesus Christ Superstar is better in almost every way, and it's probably your best Crucifiction-of-Jesus value.
Unless Herschell Gordon Lewis directed a Jesus movie called Sweet Jesus Naked Blood Feast A Go-Go, which would be awesomely outrageous.
I like the sound of Sweet Jesus Naked Blood Feast A Go Go
"Suddenly there was no trail. There was no giant, no monster, no thing called Christ to be followed. There was nothing in the tunnel but the puzzled men of courage who suddenly found themselves alone with shadows and darkness. With the telegram, one cloud lifts, and another descends. Astronaut Jesus Christ, rescued, alive, well, and of normal size some 8000 miles away in a lifeboat."
I like the sound of Sweet Jesus Naked Blood Feast A Go Go
I predicted over 20 mill on the opening weekend alone simply based off the name.
It frustrates me to form my own opinions soley from media hype/ backlash; i would much rather spend the 5.50 & the two hours of my time and come out with my own opinion.
why form an opinion at all though? unless theres something about it your interested in ? let all the other kids squabble about it endlessly all they want it still looks boring as hell and i dont need to see it to verify my opinion of that, lifes too short !!
Bottom line, the jews did it.
Boss: Hey, apparently Mel Gibson is going to do a series of movies about the Holocaust.
Me: Haha. Shouldn't he leave that kind of thing up to Stephen Spielberg?
Boss: I dunno. The Jews didn't really like The Passion of the Christ, you know. Made them kind of mad.
Me: Well I think that's probably an overgeneralization, Amanda. We can't really speak for a whole ethnic group...
Boss: I'm Jewish.
Me: Oh. [pause] Whoops.
There is hope, but not for us.
Yom Kippowned.
It didn't feel too long for me. It did span the course of over a decade, so it makes sense that it would be drawn out. It does take place in Wyoming, where I imagine life does move a little slower than the rest of the country. That state has the lowest population in the USA, but I digress. Plus, the time issue is used liked the setting or lighting. As for the rest of the film, it would really suck to be these characters. I mean its hard enough living in 2006, but to live in the 60s and 70s with that sort of social stigma. Not to say that it was every easy, but its an issue we don't quite think about nowadays.

I've read through most of these pages in this thread, and I'm just wondering how many people have actually seen this film? It seems like there are a lot of bs comments being made. Not to say you can't comment on it, but it just seems very ignorant to do so.

Gives you time to read the base material, if you didn't do so already
is anyone else more perturbed that these guys arent real cowboys over the fact of em being gay or am i the only one
I don't get it, though. So no movies should be made about homosexuals until homosexuality is fully acceptable? So that they don't take away the buzz from love stories like King Kong?
LMAO.
When did the future stop being a promise and become a threat?
why form an opinion at all though? unless theres something about it your interested in ? let all the other kids squabble about it endlessly all they want it still looks boring as hell and i dont need to see it to verify my opinion of that, lifes too short !!
im interested in figuring out what is the deciding factor on calling a movie "critically acclaimed". Other than just making up my mind, i really have no 100% answer. Its sort of like checking out a really shitty hyped up book (like the davinci code) only its getting it over with in 2 hours
Seen it; hated it. Bland and about as taboo as an episode of walker texas ranger.
1.) they are not cowboys, this takes place in 1963,
2.)The big hype of this movie is forbidden love. but in reality if they wanted some man love all they would have to do is go out of the wyoming country side and into any wyoming city. Oh no you cant be gay in the countryside..boo hoo. plenty of gay acid headed hippys in the 60s in the city(for christ sakes it was the decade of expirementation and free love).
The dialouge is fake, and obviously written by someone who is emotionally distant in their own day to day life. I am dissapointed, this movie gives no push twards tolerance, if anything the movie treats homosexuality like it is a punishment.
the people on the academy awards panel. Vomit.
the real issue with this movie is =whos more molestable? sad sack gay jake or angry man gay heath? jump in boys just pretend its thora birch and kirstyn dunst!
if i had to be gay with one of em it would be that angry man gay heath
i think the sad sack gay jake would just be pouting and apologizing the whole time
Have you ever been outside a city before? You DO know the whole Matthew Sheppard thing happened in Wyoming like, 5 years ago, right?
There is hope, but not for us.
Have you ever been outside a city before? You DO know the whole Matthew Sheppard thing happened in Wyoming like, 5 years ago, right?
I read his comment about Wyoming and it was like, "whoa, just watched 'The Laramie Project' last night!"
When two lesbians make out in a mainstream movie it's not "porn" unless you're really desperate. That's like saying a Victoria Secrets catalogue is porn.
I can see why your sister's don't care what you think, especially if you express your opinions in a "constant" rant.
zing!
"A) If the two characters were straight, there'd be no buzz whatsoever and this would be just another chick flick"
Yeah, like straight movies never get buzz. Good point, sparkles.
Post more.

1963 america was booming with the freelove/ hippy mentality, fuck the countryside if they wont accept it move on to somewere that will. Simple and moronic to think otherwise.
and the matthew shepard thing could happen anywere the fact it happend in wyoming is irrelevant aside from the fact that they found an isolated area easier. You dont think a gay man has ever been beaten to death in a city? probably more often but it might not allways be credited as gay bashing.
My point was more that not so much that they were in a rural area, but that you obviously don't understand the rural mentality when it comes to issues like homosexuality. I know people in this day and age who still refer to gay men as "faggots" or "fairies"; the simple fact of the matter is, the Midwest is not known for its progressive attitudes. It's not about the two main characters moving to a bigger city or whateverthefuck, it's that they were raised with the idea deeply imbued in their brains that what they were doing was extremely wrong, and they couldn't reconcile their love for one another with the culture they had grown up in.

i have a very biased opinion of the midwestern mentality; most likely this bias was what was blocking the idea of "this is how they were raised". Still crap movie, no taboo. The closest thing to a taboo i guess would be the moronic mindset of those around them.
i dont want to argue about this; at the end of the day it is just opinions. I simply am dissapointed at the lack of contraversy or taboo, or hell anything interesting to those outside of the midwest.

yeah, but super secret queer lingo is frightening.
