I would not be upset if this wins Best Picture. Extremely well acted and directed with beautiful cinematography. There is a 5 and a half minute camera shot that will be talked about in film classes for years.
I'd give Vanessa Redgrave an Oscar for her ten minute cameo. Phenomenal.

I really wish the whole film was like the first section with the shifting perspectives.
I know its an adaptation, but that was fantastic and gothic and creepy. Once it got to the war it was just a little more conventional.
I really liked it. Everyone should have a look

I mostly agree. Once it got to the war it seemed a bit ho-hum. But I felt the ending saved it.
