Anyone heard of Mogwai?
They are a new band which are fu*king amazing in my opinion. In my opinion they are a mixture between pink floyd, radiohead and some dark moody band. They are really a single song band, and you need to listn to the album at once if you get me. The song which ive got are below:
1. Mogwai - Hunted by A Freak (4:18)
2. Mogwai - Close Encounters (3:55)
3. mogwai - sine wave (4:55)
4. Mogwai - Stanley Kubrick (4:17)
5. Unknown Artist - Track 6 (3:43)
6. Unknown Artist - Track 4 (3:25)
7. Mogwai - Hunted by A Freak (4:18)
8. Unknown Artist - Track 10 (9:23)
9. Mogwai - Christmas Steps.mp3
10. Mogwai - Cody.mp3
11. Mogwai - Ex-Cowboy.mp3
12. mogwai - helicon 2.mp3
13. Mogwai - Helps Both Ways.mp3
14. Mogwai - Honey.MP3
15. Mogwai - Kappa.mp3
16. mogwai - katrien.mp3
17. Mogwai - May Nothing But Happiness Come Through Your Door.mp3
18. Mogwai - Oh! How The Dogs Stack Up.mp3
19. Mogwai - Punk Rock puffdaddy.mp3
20. Mogwai - Punk Rock.mp3
21. Mogwai - radar maker.mp3
I was just wondering whether anyone else had heard of this band and what they thought about them?
yea they're an older band. however i do agree that they are great. Check out Godspeed you black emperor, tortoise or others if you like mogwai (there are boards if you serarch that list mroe like mogwai, on of them was called 'so called post rock' or something, look for it you'll be pleased).
ooh, I saw Mogwai live in manchester a month or so back. they're amazing!
and glamhoth is right, definately check out GY!BE if you like them
Happy Songs For Happy People is by far the most depressing album.

All of them are called Post-Rock, especially Tortoise because they invented Post-Rock.
Great band - I saw went to see them in Edinburgh a earlier this year and the volume was incredible. It was the first time I've ever seen people scared at a gig... this is, of course, a good thing.
Notice people have pointed you in the direction of Godspeed. You might also want to have a look for a band called Explosions in the Sky.
The Scottish Guitar Army are taking over.
-emotion, destruction, it's all the same to me...-
overated. so is other Welsh music.
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
Stanley Kubrick is a beautiful song.

Dig yourself back into your hole!
Ireland is the big Island to the left of england... Wales is the sort of 'beer belly shaped' shitty country geometrically attached to the mid-left of England.
I really liked the 'punk rock' song
theyre best mates with the Super Furry Animals fucknut.
the only exception to the Welsh blow rule, is an occasional Muse track, and Eifion Jones, defender at Blackpool.

Muse are from Cornwall or Devon I thought.
Manics are from Wales, and they're okay. The Stereophonics on the other hand, are not.
well either way i don't like mogwai, and i guess i'll never understand the whole welsh thing

haha, how true. a boy called Kelly can never be good.
anyway, the base fucking moral here is that the Mog, are way overrated.
dont believe the hype kids.

darling, Matt Bellamy is about as Welsh as Vinnie Jones.

I once stood next to the drummer on the train for an hour, and didn't realise it was him till he was getting off! I was such an idiot. Those guys are grrrrrrr8 live.
im sure they are. i was going to BDO to see them and others-- but now im going to the separate shows instead.
ie. Aphex + Luke Vibert -- Jan 20
Strokes + Kings of Leon - Jan 21
maybe even, the Darkness- the very next nite.
and Basement Jaxx- Jan 24?
if Muse do a separate show, im there.

I saw pics of Jarvis dressed up as a skeleton, and that's it. Not heard anything...apparantly they're no way as good as Pulp- but no one is!
well yeah, thats a given- no one is.
but im glad Jarv + PULP others are still doing things.
the only thing im sore about is, i never got to seem them live. ever. *Sob*

Maybe the term "post rock" emerged along with Tortoise, I don't really know. But Slint was around before them. David Pajo from Slint was even in Tortoise for a while, and he also made an appearance on Mogwai's "Rock Action". Mogwai have said that Slint was one of their biggest influences.
I got to see Mogwai live a few months ago. Awesome show - as usual with this type of music, the albums don't really compare to the live show.

Yeah, I'm not even going to read any of the previous posts because I'm sure a number of people have already said: they're not new.
if you really like mogwai, you should defintely check out Sigur Ros.
they've done many a collaboration together.
And Sigur Ros is soooo much better than Mogwai.
Someone told me they were new, didnt know they had been around for 8 yrs. I was jut given there cd and i like every track on it.
Yeah, that's my favorite Mogwai song, but I haven't listened to a whole lot of their stuff, really.
I think this pretty much sums up my feelings on post-rock. Beautiful shows, but listening to the album is pretty boring.
sonnyboy, go get slint's spiderland and tortoise's millions now livign will never die
if you would like check out some mbv to

Also if you saw 28 days later & enjoyed the soundtrack thats "God you speedy black empoire" which is very much like Mogwai both are very artistic & worth a listen. Its more chill style as you read!! "England made Me"!!!!!
Not the whole soundtrack...in fact, just a small portion of ONE of their songs appears in the movie (and not on the CD). The rest of the music is still great though, and very GYBE-ish - by John Murphy, Brian Eno, Grandaddy, etc.
i think the song is called east hastings and for the movie it was a cut up version you wont find that song anywhere unless bootlegged. its not on the soundtrack
"East Hastings" is on f#a#(Infinity).
Yes, it's only a small portion of the song...nearly all music used in movies is cut up in order to fit. You can't very well use an 18 minute song in a movie without editing it.
well obviously, but what i meant by cut up is parts of the songs put in different parts of the song where it usually wouldnt be. yes its shortened but also cut up
Rumour control:
Mogwai are Scottish (although I dare say some wit will ask what the difference between Scotland, Wales & Ireland is)
They never did a collaboration with Sigur Ros - the track claiming to be so that you downloaded is a fake.
Rumour control ends.
-emotion, destruction, it's all the same to me...-

if by new you mean almost 8 years old, then yes, they are a new band. and if by fucking(oooo i left out the censor!) amazing, you mean shitty, unlistenable shite, then yes, you are correct.
