anybody like metal?
The other night I was at a concert and Arch Enemy played; I'm not at all a fan of female singers, but they played brilliantly and Angela Glassow's voice is beyond impressive.
Has anyone ever told you that you dont look the metal type? Either way, I get told the samething.
I'd like you to tell me that you are a false prophet and that God is a superstition.

Yeah, I get that quite a bit. But I'm open to a very wide range of music, so it's to be expected. Hell, I don't look like I'd be into classical music either.
From what I've seen of you, you look like you could be into metal.

Im pretty much the same way with music, I get weird looks when I drive down the street with Mexican guitar blaring or some Bach.
The unfortunate thing with most metal heads is, they look dumb and dirty. Im a bit of a pretty boy when I dress, either jeans/tshirt/sandals or I look like a lawyer.
Its good to keep people guessing.

Yeah, metalheads don't have the best reputation.
My tastes have changed somewhat since my last post here. Revised favourites:
Trivium
Mastodon
Dream Theater
Opeth
Porcupine Tree
I love Dream Theater. I prefer the older stuff...Scenes From a Memory is my favorite by them...and I love Awake and Images and Words also. They also put on an awesome show. And they're pretty much the greatest group of musicians assembled in one band. I love John Petrucci.

Haha...I know how you feel. I always used to be told I looked like I was in a boy band. Singing for a metal band, this was not a good thing...so I grew my hair out. I used to get kind of decked out in metal attire...wallet chains, wrist cuffs, etc etc...but now I just say fuck it. Some days I want to wear a leather jacket and a band tshirt...others I want to put on a polo or something and look respectable.
Yeah, metalheads don't have the best reputation.
No, they certainly don't. But whatever...I'm smart, I have a good job, etc etc...if someone wants to look down on me because of the music I listen to, be my guest. No skin off my back.
Anyone like Otep? the new album is pretty bland, it sounds more nu metal than House of Secrets ever did.
Otep Shamaya, I dont know what it is, her being fucking insane or what, but shes fucking hot. Plus I think her voice would make me hide in a corner and shit myself if she yelled at me.
Though I wasnt surprised to find out that shes a lesbian.

Come to find out, Otep was in Kansas City last night. Who knew?
I'd never heard of them, but I'm going to check it out. Always trying to figure out how Hot Topic can pay it's rent.

Octavarium and Systematic Chaos are my favourites. I'm excited because I heard they are touring here next year, so hopefully I'll get to see them. Apparently, they are currently going around the UK with Opeth. Oh, the jealousy.
Really? That's surprising. I mean I guess it shouldn't be, because I know newer Dream Theater is much more popular than older DT, but I just don't know anyone personally who prefers the new stuff. Their new stuff just doesn't do it for me like the old stuff. The old stuff was infinitely more prog. The little bit of Systematic Chaos that I've heard is good, but the past few albums have been...I dunno...a bit forced. Like they're trying too hard to be something they're not. There are some exceptions...on Train of Though, I lovelovelove "Stream of Consciousness" and "Vacant." On Octavarium, I really like "Panic Attack"...but otherwise, the last album I thought was really awesome is Scenes from a Memory...which is just a brilliant, brilliant album.
I do have to say though...as much as the quality of their music has declined over the last few albums, James LaBrie's vocals have gotten much better. His voice used to piss me off to no end...to whiney and thin. Now it only irks me slightly, every once in a while.
Eh...I'd rather old DT, even with lame vocals.
i recently discovered sunn o))). dear god. i dont know what to call it. they claim themselves metal sometimes... oh well. check them out.
also, mastodon is the shit, and dream theatre bore me.
love,

Well, I only prefer the new stuff because I don't yet have the old stuff.
Oooooooh...well you are in for a treat when you hear it then

Alexi is absolutely right (although...considering the direction Children of Bodom is taking, he should be careful making statements like that). There are plenty of bands that play fast and well, but suck. Dream Theater is not one of them though...in fact, they don't even play fast on their old stuff. Petrucci can shred, but he certainly isn't a shredder. He is actually known for his slower solos. So to say DT is all about speed and whatnot...doesn't even make sense.

I met a girl from Finland at a bar tonight. I was pretty much in love with her. I made it fairly clear. Unfortunately, I found out later that she was married...to a guy who was standing not far behind her...I was severely disappointed. She seemed like she was interested. Lame.
...but that's what I get. My entire heart is now dedicated to Alex Pallix.
