any Godspeed you Black Emperor fans?
I think Sleep is their best song.
love them.
see also russian circles and explosions in the sky. they're both brilliant.
i adore most epic instrumental rock.
You know who's real nifty?
Just come by Russian Circles, touring over here - will prob check them out, loving 'Verses'.
Mogwai are awesome.
To check out for your record collections, if you love the most heavy/epic/beautiful post-rock:
And So I Watch You From Afar (key song: Set Guitars To Kill or A Little Bit of Solidarity Goes a Long Way), This Will Destroy You (Burial On The Presidio Banks), Maybshewill (pretty much anything), 65daysofstatic (Retreat, Retreat or Radio Protector), God Is An Astronaut (All Is Violent, All Is Bright is probably their best album), Caspian (Sea Lawn is beatiful, and their album Tertia is pretty bravo), Saxon Shore, iliketrains. (what is it with post-rock and the weirdest names?)
The Joy Formidable also have a stunning album (A Balloon Called Moaning) and Asobi Seksu and Amusement Parks On Fire, with some shoegaze mixed in.
Phew.

Hot damn, you have good taste in music!
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
Awww, thanks you guys. Just doing my bit to spread the good word. Glad you guys hear of these, I know a few of them have attempted US tours quite recently. These kind of bands are all so stupidly talented, but due to what the mainstream playlist rotation and "un-MTV-a-bility of post-rock", they'll prob never see the mainstream recognition they deserve. I just love my music and gigs, the great thing with bands like this, you get to see them and go deaf front row in some tiny venue for £7 with two other supports. I was talking to bass player from ASIWYFA back at xmas, saying how I love this genre (such a dirty word) and other similar bands, and I swear he said how them and a few others I mentioned have done whole tours together. 2, 3, 4 of the bands above on the SAME BILL. For no more than £10, tops, tiny venues (200 capacity?)
Also add: Codes In The Clouds, Years of Rice and Salt, Yndi Halda, A Place To Bury Strangers (who take great pride in playing so loud a-la My Bloody Valentine loud)
Anyway, a little off topic, but I love a lot of heavy rock/alternative/post-hardcore punk - any names to be weary of stateside that might have slipped through my musical net?

I recommend Mr.Beast as a first album for anyone wanting to get into Mogwai.
I Love Godspeed you! Black Emperor and Mogwai:D

YES!!! Do you like Mogwai?
