Am I the only one who hated "The Butterfly Effect?"
Okay, the movie was awful. They obviously advertised it very well because I thought the preview made the movie look good, or in this case, tolerable, but it just turned out sucking. I thought it was a good idea, but they could've executed it way better.
The dialogue was horrible. Have you ever in your entire life heard someone use the word "fuck-bag" in an angry or accusatory statement? I mean, is that really a word you want to be using? That... ugh... that just makes me cringe every time I hear it. Or laugh. Or both.
The actors were also horrible. Yes, we all know Ashton's a hottie. But he can't act. Period. Which makes me wonder how he ever got into the business.
Now, on to why I made this post.... am I the only one who hated this movie? Every single person I've spoken with who were unfortunate enough to have wasted money on the damn thing all said it was good. Do I not get it or something? Can someone help me? Can someone give me a really good reason why this movie did not suck?
I won't hold your opinions against you. So far, everyone's been holding my opinion against me. So I feel I'm in no position to argue.

This is another one of those remakes-from-a-far-superior-foreign-films deals. I don't need to see it to know it will blow. Three reasons:
1. Ashton "Dude, Where's My Car?" Kucher.
2. It's a remake. They always blow.
3. Ashton "That 70's Show" Kucher.
nuff'sed.
Really? It's a remake? I never knew that. Was the original any good? Did they use words like "fuck-bag?"

I kind of enjoyed it, actually. It wasn't the best, but it was better than I expected it to be.
i like ashton, that 70's show kicks ass.
i like ashton, that 70's show kicks ass.
That 70's Show is one of my favourite shows. Plus, I have much respect for Ashton. He has or was earning (can't remember which) a degree in Biochemistry. That is tough shit right there.

I don't know...I mean, I liked Twelve Monkeys more than La Jetee...
But then again there's always an exception to the rule.

The remake of Ocean's Eleven was fucking great.
It definitely wasn't as good as it looked in previews. The ending would've been so much better if he ended up in the mental institution completely unable to get to his notebooks ever again...
But yeah. His roommate, that "Schooner" guy from Mallrats....omg he looked awful. I mean, I'm not saying anything about that style or whatever, but whoever dressed HIM up like that didn't know what they were doing. He just ended up looking ridiculous.
I can't remember much about Ashton's acting, I was too into the story to notice it. But the ONLY really good thing about the movie was the casting. As far as appearances. The child actors looked almost exactly like ashton, amy, etc when they were grown up. That's the only thing the movie has going for it. That's pretty bad.

I liked the ending, but I agree that it would've been better if he had ended up in the mental institution. I like unhappy endings, though.
I kind of think that it would be interesting if they made a prequel about his father's life.
I THINK ASHTON KUTCHER STARRED IN IT
kelso travels through time, theres the plot right there. Now whether or not you are interested in it base don the sentence, is up to you.
It really seems like it's trying to be a "smart" film for the moronic masses.

I know exactly what you mean. Really, all the not-so-bright people I know really loved this film. I'm not saying you can't be smart and like the film, but the majority of the fans seem to be complete idiots. It spoke to them because they believe it's somehow "deep," really the movie was pure shit.

Yeah, I love that movie. For some reason, every time I see that movie, I have to have a daiquiri. It's tradition.

Dunno, it was in Spanish... Actually, the to films seem to be completely unrelated except for identical titles...

Obviously, you're too young to have been scarred by the real 1970's....

I've never seen either, so I don't know.

1. You're kidding right?
2. Have you ever seen the original?
3. YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT!?!?!?

Hey, the remake had Brad Pitt being sexy. It gets mad props just for that. I've only seen part of the original, but why can't the remake be good? The original is probably better, but the remake can stand on its own two feet and it's proven that already. A lot of people love the remake.
You guys need to make a thread of movies that we should not waste our money on, and then we can check it out every once in a while before we head off to the movies. And you should be required to list your top five fav movies so that I know if I can trust your opinion or not.
Get to it.

You know, I liked The Butterfly Effect a lot better than I liked Lost in Translation though. Fuck, that movie was so boring. HUGE letdown.

I haven't watched it yet (downloaded it) but I am not surprised with Ashton's horrible acting. Rumors are surfacing about him getting kicked off of the next Cameron Crowe movie for this very reason.
