"The true New Yorker secretly believes that people living anywhere else have to be, in some sense, kidding." — John Updike
I hate these lists people always try to be as "eclectic" as they can to impress everyone else.
In that spirit, here's mine:
Something by Coltrane
Something by Black Flag
Something from an African zulu band
An obscure Dylan b-side from the 80s
Beethoven's 5th
It's not easy having a good time.
Even smiling makes my face ache.

So far the lists seem to be pretty straight forward...I don't see them as overly eclectic.
My All Time Desert Island Top Five Drinking Songs...if there was some booze to be found
(in no particular order)
5 - Drunken Lullabies - Flogging Molly
4 - Killing in the Name Of - Rage Against the Machine
3 - Do You Really Want to Hurt Me - Culture Club (if there are a bunch of people around who want to do the Billy Madison dance)
2 - (tie)Area Codes/Ho - Ludacris
1 - Craziest Game of Poker - O.A.R.
Black Friday Rule. Great song...
That it is. I chose it over Devils Dance Floor or Within A Mile Of Home simply because it is the longest of the three, and if I was on the island.. well I'd want some longer songs.

I can't believe it, I actually agree with you completely. Cause for real, it's like the formula is:
a) one classic everyone knows
one rare/b-side/import by an artist that is familiar
c) one annoying song that you still cling too
d) & e) a couple that no one but you likes, and for good reason.
That's my list. Fill in the blanks as you will given the stereotype that you have already formed in your minds about me, respectively.

or maybe people just dont want to listen to one kind of music all the time? My list is true to what I have in my cd collection, a little bit of everything. If thats wrong.. meh. Its what I like.

so far, i haven't seen any of these lists by people who've posted, so at least by your standards, we're all out of the 'formula' which i think is total crap.
i agree with mocky...my list is true to what i have in my collection too.
hmm...im curious, if a lense breaks, does that mean the mp3 capability is lost, im assuming its solar powered and the lense gets the sun energy. while blocking it from your eyes

NOOOO!! Oh my.
NOOOO!! Oh my.
Yeah...I actually knew a lot of Courtney's from my day. I think I even went with more than one.
I've only ever one one or two Chantelle's though...but she was smokin'.
I had a tendency to overdue it with some of the other names in that song...
Instinctively, and for variation:
Tangled Up In Blue - Bob Dylan
There is a Light that Never Goes Out - Smiths
Witness - Roots Manuva
When Will They Shoot? - Ice Cube
Rhapsody In Blue - by the Berstein
In ten minutes time - different choices. But there we are.

Hmmm, good one.
I never get tired of hearing Boys of Summer. Don't care who does it. Hell, I'll record my own cover to take.
