Alexander
For a movie about the guy who conquered most of the known world there was way to much sedimental man-to-man contact and long drawn out speaches to people who looked like they didnt care... If you ask me this movie was a terrible let down, and probably a very bad career move for Colin Farrell... The problem wasnt that the character was bi-sexual it was that the whole movie just gave off too much vibe of weakness and sediment... You really dont feel like he was a great warrior or conqueror... Seems like such a waste of a good cast... Oliver Stone disappointed me greatly...

Colin Farrel as Alexander has to be the worst casting decision in years. I liked Troy, although I can admit it wasn't great, but it still looks miles ahead of this rubbish.
Oliver Stone destroyed the movie... I dont care if the guy was bi-sexual or not the whole movie was one big chick flick... Way too much focus on his sexuality and his lame ass speaches to an army of people who just really looked like they didnt give a shit... No fighting, (*which is one of those things you would kind of expect for a movie about the guy who conquered most of the known world...) but seriously save your money...
they should've had Joaquin Phoenix play the role of Alexander.
They should've used a director with just a little bit of talent.
oh come on guys, JFK and NBK are fucking awesome
NBK I'll agree with... but you obviously havent seen Alexander yet... its the most touching story of Colin Farrel touching other men and giving stupid ass speaches to an army that doesnt care I've ever seen... No action what-so-ever... just plain blew! Oliver Stone lost what little respect he may have gotten... for that matter so did Colin Farrel...
like bass vs speakers underwater? thats mad. dont Clinic do that too?
ha, no, the wes anderson movie.
clinic has ripped me off TWICE now and they are on my shit list
three years ago, i showed up and they were sick - funny for a band of guys wearing surgical masks - when they made the show up six months later they played one brief, surly set for about 28 minutes.
i gave them a try a month ago, again - five dollars more than the last, notably - and the little bastards did the same thing.
i like to think of it as that they made up the second part of the show they should've played the first time - but even so, clinic still owes me a show.

to follow up the off subjectness: the dresden dolls are wonderfull one of if not the only band i would go see live at this point.
to follow up the original subject: oliver stone is terrible, his casting is allways terrible, his scripts focus too much on inner conflict.
who the fuck can respect a man that actually thought kevin costner could act??
man, that's dissapointing. I haven't seen it yet, but I was looking forward to it. Stone usually makes such a social statement, it sucks to see he's turned A the G into a sentimental public speaker. He had such a drive and a fire, the movie should totally be about that. Yeah so he was bi, this was before the Judeo-Christian mindset that these things were wrong. Greeks all had boy toys, big deal. Stone coulda done better than that. The man the movie was named after shouldn't have his life story become a chick flick.
There was all the controversy about Phillip, his father, marrying Cleopatra and having a son, who would then be the real heir to the throne, since Alexanders mother was not macedonian. Then a soldier who had a "crush" on Phillip killed him, some say, for Alexanders mother, in order to ensure he would ascend the throne, and they also killed they child.
Then Alexander takes over the known world. That's a great story right there. Fuck their homosexual leisons, that was common practice back then. The man took over the known world, and that fact had little to do with butt sex.
I'll prolly still see it, but maybe I'll wait for the cheap theaters. It's just so sad.

Truely... I know alot of people are going to go see it anyways, just because the story is cool and it would kind of be hard to fuck it up... but believe me when I say Oliver Stone succeeded in fucking it up... It seems the focus of the film is on his bisexuality not his ambition... Over all you just get a really weak picture of him as a king that some how got lucky but no real story as to how he got lucky...

oh c'mon - its not that bad, he write and directed Natural Born Killers! The Doors,
produced The People Vs. Larry Flint, did the screenplay for Conan the Barbarian!!
hes not all that bad, and certainly has a career that makes him big bucks.

It stinks! There were like two battle scenes in the entire movie most of it was covered by voiceovers ("he went to Egypt and fought some battles and won"). Too much of the movie was talking and, yes, staring at men, in an at first ambigiously gay duo-esquely comical way, then a strangley nauseating way. Everyone still had their native accents too, be it American, Irish, Aussie, British, etc, [b]except[b] Angelina Jolie who put on this godawful Greek accent for the sake of doing it I suppose. There were some cool points to the movie though...
1) Rosario Dawson's breasts.
2) Phalanxes rock.
If it wasnt for the phalanxes the battle sequences would have been too reminiscent of Braveheart. I think Colin Farrel does get an undeserved amount of flak though. He has done good movies (Tigerland, Intermission).

I think it's better if they wait 'till I'm gone... and if they have to, maybe let me do the castings. s holes.

If Angelina Jolie made it, then that's enough for me to know it's terrible. I can't think of anybody with worse taste in scripts than her.
It's not easy having a good time.
