2009 Must-See Movies.
WOW! Do you got a link to a trailer or any sort of news or casting on this?
.
So you've been broken and you've been hurt
Show me somebody who ain't
Yeah, I know I ain't nobody's bargain
But, hell, a little touchup and a little paint...

no all i saw was the imdb page which said it's in post-production and it's straight to dvd. streaming media is blocked at work. it's the same writer though so it can't be bad.
man, I dunno.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1319743/fullcredits#cast
Lot of it looks pretty good, a lot of it looks pretty bad. direct to DVD isn't good, same writer is good.
Looks like it'll be more about the Tremor family which is good, looks like they're gonna have a Tremor sister, which'll probably be bad.
They don't have Clint Mansell doing the music though which is the biggest thing I see wrong with this. His stuff really made that first one even more incredible.
meh, i'll rent it based on the first one's greatness.
it has lazlo soot again, which is good. but it has the director of 'from dusk til dawn 3', which is bad.
I could overlook the director if they only could have gotten the same guy for the music.
I saw that Moon was playing at the Arclight yesterday when I went in to see The Hangover*, and I almost debated trying to convince the people I went with to see it instead. It looks good, but I think I'd rather just go see it by myself.
* Hysterical.
I've heard Moon is very ambitious, but the premise kind of folds in on itself by the end...I may still check it out this weekend.
Lars Von Trier's 'Antichrist'
'Paper Heart'
These two probably couldn't be much further apart from each other but they both look ace.
I saw the trailer for Paperheart the other day (above link was disabled by youtube). Looks promising. I want to go see 500 Days of Summer, also.

OK, technically, it's a 2008 movie for some festivals, but set to release sometime in August I think, but I'm pretty excited to see It Might Get Loud, a documentary about Jack White, Jimmy Page, and The Edge talking about the electric guitar. Possibly because I'm a big fan of Jack White.

Yeah, Paper Heart is high up on my list of things I want to see in theaters this year. I saw a poster at ArcLight the other day, so it should be coming out soon.
i didn't know Bono allowed the Edge to talk. huh.
Alex Pallix, MonkeyMike and I saw MOON tonight, starring Sam Rockwell. Best movie of the year so far, by far. Highly recommend. A++.
sam rockwell is the man.
I've seen Away We Go twice and really, really wish it was a widespread release by now. It's only playing in two theaters in the STL metro area which is a super bummer. I definitely think it's a must-see. It's short, it's fucking hilarious, and it's got some pretty meaningful content stuffed into it. It has its flaws, mostly in the acting department, but I think it's definitely got the qualifications to be a must-see this year.
Are the scissors broken in your house, son?
I tried last night to extol the virtues of MOON to some friends without spoiling things too much, and found it very difficult to do. But it was indeed great. Haunting, minimalistic, and very thought-provoking.
is it true he goes without pants throughout the entire movie and is constantly mooning the audience? That is a daring and bold technique!
is this the one directed by Bowie's son?
is this the one directed by Bowie's son?
Yeah, Zowie Bowie aka Dunnncan. Moon is not playing ANYWHERE in St. Louis right now lfkjlkjsda
Are the scissors broken in your house, son?
Really interested in that Anti-Christ movie after watching the trailer. Not a big movie person but can't wait to see
- 9
- Where the Wild Things Are
- Inglorious Bastards
- Paper Hearts
- 500 Days of Summer
- Cherrybomb
Someone should go back through the thread and count how many movies are mentioned. Once it hits 2,009, we have to close the thread and start a new one in accordance with the title.
Moon is just starting to open up around here, so I'm taking the hike over to Voorhees on Friday to see it. I think I'm going to have to go over to Philly to see The Hurt Locker when it opens. I really liked Jeremy Renner in The Unusuals and as Wood Hite in The Asassination of Jessie James.

Is he the one that looks like he's about to vomit at any second?
I only just found out about this...
new film by the director of Oldboy. It looks ace. I think it's out soon in the US and October in the UK.
I gotta say, the Japanese sure do know how to make horror films.
True, although Chan Wook Park is from Korea.
Ah, I love Song Kang-ho.
Thirst has been on my must see list for donkeys.
I curious to see what Wes Anderson does with Fantastic Mr. Fox.
!
This kinda looks like The Road, only, you know...good.
they should just call this what it really is: Fallout: The Movie.
"It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream - a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought - a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities."
Shit, I thought this was fallout the movie?
Has anyone heard of this film - Visioneers?
I've never heard of it before but it sounds pretty good.
!
Cassun mentioned it recently (like in the last week) and someone I believe said they enjoyed it.

Cold Souls sounds like it could either be really good, or a complete ripoff of Charlie Kaufman-style films.
!
Definitely go see (500) Days of Summer
I saw Moon today finally and really really enjoyed it. The music is awesome throughout, sparingly as it may occur.
There was a preview for Coco Before Chanel beforehand. I'm not into Chanel shit or anything but it looks really good and I saw the actress, Audrey somebody-or-other-fantastic-beautiful, on a poster for a different film on my way out, so I guess she's the shit overseas.
Are the scissors broken in your house, son?

Audrey Tautou?! Mais oui!
If you haven't seen Amelie yet, do yourself a favor, skip your next pokemarathon and watch it instead!
Yes, her! Just seeing the Coco Before Chanel preview I decided I want to see all of her films because she is gorgeous and charming. I don't know if I would cancel an entire Pokemarathon for her but at least a few hours, yeah.
Are the scissors broken in your house, son?
didnt GI Joe get the worst test audience reviews in history? i cant believe this made cassuns must see list

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”
-James Baldwin
Test audiences, urgh. BAN them.
I adore Audrey Tautou, she's excellent in He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not.
Well, to be fair, I didn't expect GI Joe to be good, only entertaining, and I made this list long before any sort of test audience stuff was available.
Just saw the trailer for Cold Souls...looks like it could be pretty ace.
Is it just me or does District 9 sounds like it could be a bit gash? It just seems way to blunt.
!
Watching the first 40 sec of "Cold Souls" I was seriously laughing my ass off, it felt like a totally rip-off, anyone seen Synecdoche, New York agree?
Good thing it took a turn though.

So...We are still going to die. Right?
You know how the majority of homophobes are secretly homosexual themselves?
I'm beginning to see a comparison here...

i don't know if it's coming out this year but they made a prequel to 'smokin aces', one of the greatest movies of the past 20 or so years.
