2000-2009: The Best Movies List
Well its a fact, if facts make me an idiot... imma be the idiot.
Batman, James Bond, Lord of the rings, Superman, Spiderman, Daredevil... they are all the same, donkey dick suckers.

I think you're confusing 'thing you dislike on principle' with 'bad'
Also, you're confusing "fact" with "opinion", which is really easy to do when you're an idiot.
I make facts. What do you make?
Say whatever you like, Thelma and Louise is still a bad movie because of it's James Bondness.

No, you make opinions. Just as I make opinions. If you don't know the difference between them, then you're a dumbfuck that should be ignored.
Okay i'll just drop down and die.
I make opinions and James Bond is awesome.
Now that sounded retarded.

You're still an idiot.
James Bond is a homo.
That's just like, your opinion, man.
Hey, I'm just stating the facts! I didn't expect the fucking Spanish Inquisition!
See now we're to people claming James Bond's homosexuality.
obviously, its a fact...and if not its what the majority of this site believes.
It's your party and you cry if you want to.

NOOOOOOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!

James Bond is the epitome of smoothness and badassness. Casino Royale humanized him in a way no other Bond film has. If you fell asleep during THIS movie, claiming it to be too slow, I guess you're more of a Michael Bay fan... or at least not much of a poker player. Oh well...
I say the next Bond film needs to have 006 make an appearance.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
'The Pianist' was a great movie and even though it was a kids movie ,'Finding Nemo' deserves to be on any list.
Also on my list (but not limitied to)
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"
'Memento'
'Donnie Darko'
'Borat'
'V for Vendetta'
'300'
'Gladiator'
'No Country for Old Men'
'O Brother Where Art Thou?'
'Batman Begins'
'The Dark Knight'
'Amelie'
'Eternal Sunshine...' (my wife fav movie ever)
'Blackhawk Down'
'LOTR' trilogy
thats all that come to moid right now, I know there more....
I'm curious as to why so many people like Borat enough to consider it one of the best films of the decade.
Comic and satire genius. At least for me it was. I know a lot of people who hate this move but I thought it was brilliant.
Side note- 'The Fountain' sucked huge. I was hugely disappointed in that movie.
at least someone caught it.
The only one I've ever seen was some roger moore one where the only thing I remember about it was them scaling a cliff face with grappling guns. I think it was the one with grace jones.
A View to a Kill. I lived not far from Chantilly back then and we visited the set at the castle (where the big reception takes place in the film). All the props (fake statues for example) were so well made that you couldn't tell the difference unless you touched them, even though they just appeared in the background of a quick moving shot.
On James Bond in general, I liked the concept of the high rolling spy, but the franchise just became more and more ridiculous. And it started quite early. But the reboot brought by Casino Royale put the character and his universe on the right track.

wrong on both accounts and now i officially don't like you.
No one likes Michael Bay, that's why he signed Megan Fox on to Transformers... Jeez.
I did not fall asleep during Casino Royale I just simple turned it off and watched Collateral.

Casino Royale and Collateral are both good Hollywood movies.
I'm gonna make a Top 10 movies of the last 500 years thread.

Oh my achin' heart.

Stranger than fiction was a fantastic movie.
really? I wanted to like it, and I sort of did, but will ferrel was sort of, akjglahtioahbnmfan in it.
I also hate when people say, it's a kid's movie, but.....
I love movies like Finding Nemo and Hayao miyazaki's stuff. They are some of the most touching films I have ever seen. I still get teary in Kiki's delivery service. it's like, she discovers herself, you know? God, I love that movie.

Thats why I also said 'Finding Nemo'. Its a great story and the animation is just jaw dropping. Its one of those movies that 50 years from now people kids will still be watching and adults will say " I remember when I was a kid and that movie came out...."
I randomly just stumbled upon this article:

I can't believe I forgot about Brokeback Mountain.
Brokeback Mountain is a decent movie that gets way too much acclaim.
Brokeback Mountain really saddened me at the end. That's the part that strikes me. While it gets too much acclaim at times, it also got a lot of unnecessary bashing because it's about gay cowboys. Most of the people hadn't even seen the movie.
it didn't sound at all appealing to me, that movie. plus i can't stand ang lee. he's only made one movie i enjoyed and even it was pretty boring. it was whichever kung fu movie he did.
The movie's not very good and it got all this attention because it's about gay cowboys. Big fucking deal. If it was a heterosexual couple, you'd just think they were assholes, cheating on their spouses in the woods. But, because they're gay, and they truly love each other, it's some masterpiece.
It's shot well and the acting's great, but that's it.
Ang Lee needs someone else to edit his movies, i think. He ruins his movies with an overabundance of sentimentality.
Strangely enough, I never got the impression that they were in love. Not until the end at least.
DID YOU JUST THINK THEY ENJOYED WIENERS IN THEIR BUTTS ENOUGH TO PLAN THAT TRIP EVERY YEAR?

if i had to pick the most boring filmmaker around, it's him.
Oh my god, did Ron Howard die?
I didn't get this at first, and I actually went to Google to look it up, and then it hit me, and I felt like Homer Simpson.

Why would google help you?
I'm saying there's no way in hell that Ang Lee is the most boring filmmaker as long as Ron Howard is still alive.
yeah but he used to be good. as far as his 2000-2009 movies go, he's pretty boring too.
That's why i didn't understand how google would help someone get that joke.

He wasn't associating my comment with your comment, so he was just googling to see if Ron Howard had died. For all he knew, I just found that out and this was the first thread I found to post in.
But why would googling it make it funny?
I'm not sure if you're being serious right now.
Batman, Zombie and Comedy movies aside...this is my list. If I gave it a minute, it would change, though. So hard to narrow it down to ten!
Irreversible 2002
This movie probably isn't even Noe's best, but for this time period...
Sunshine 2007
I can watch this movie over and over. It's visually stunning. I love how even though it's a "omg, the world will end unless we shoot ourselves into outer space and do something ridiculous" situation, it seems like it's all about the effects of being alone.
Un long dimanche de fiançailles 2004
Amazing. Really. It's intriguing, there's action, romance, mystery...and there are so few good movies about World War I.
Igby Goes Down 2002
I dunno why I like this movie. Just do. Feel the same way about "Lars and the Real Girl", "Garden State", "Juno"...just random movies, about shit that will never happen to you, but it's nice to know it happens to somebody.
Closer 2004
I love it. In the scene where Natalie Portman's character is standing in front of her photograph in the gallery, and Clive Owen's character introduces himself? The look he gives her and the way he touchers her face...I could watch that scene forever.
Requiem For A Dream 2000
I'm fascinated by movies about obsession. This is brilliant.
3:10 To Yuma 2008
Westerns are my guilty pleasure. This is one of the first westerns in a long time that I feel goes on the same shelf as "Tombstone", "Lonesome Dove", or the "Streets of Laredo"...and of course, anything with Christian Bale (aside from "Harsh Times") belongs on this list anyway.
Gladiator 2000
Uh, great movie. Nuff said.
The Last King of Scotland 2006
I enjoy reading about African history/politics, obviously this wasn't like, a straight up documentary, but the movie was awesome.
The Pianist 2002
I love World War II stuff in general, but I thought this movie was extremely well done.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."

You're an idiot. Obviosely.
