Oh and Milk! That would definitely make my top 10. Ha, and Wet Hot American Summer is definitely a classic already, but I don't know if I could put such a silly film in my top 10 of the decade. I love comedies, but it's hard to put them up there with the likes of There Will Be Blood, Children of Men and so on. But I do have In Bruges and Inglorious Basterds up there. I don't know, tough call. This list really needs to be larger than 10.

Nope, you only get 10.

I could only think of a couple movies that i didn't see on the list. I thought both The Jacket, and Candy were two of the best movies this decade.

I don't think I've seen either of those.

My favourite films of this year are The Hurt Locker and In The City Of Sylvia, but I've only seen each of those once so I don't know if they'd stand up on repeat viewings.

I was meh on the Jacket and I don't think I've ever seen Candy. My favorite movies of the year so far are Moon and Goodbye Solo.

The Jacket, kind of like The Machinist, was a way cooler movie in theory than it was once executed.

Exactly. I thought The Machinist would have made an amazing episode of The Twilight Zone, but as a movie I wasn't very excited.

Any particular reason why you would list The Illusionist rather than The Prestige?

Yeah, I was curious about that, too. I saw them both within days of each other, and although there were a few things about The Illusionist that I really dug, I loved The Prestige through and through.

Remember when it came out and we had like a 10 page thread on it that stayed on topic all the way through? That's a testament to a great film right there!

Also, I'm going to see The White Ribbon next month followed by a talk with Michael Haneke AND I'M TOTALLY DORKING OUT ABOUT IT.

Oh man I love Dead Mans Shoes:

"What are you looking at?"
"YOU, YA CUNT!"

"Look, my mates have got this funny idea that you-"
"Yeah it was me."
"What?"
"I broke into your house, I painted your face. I've got you right here" (points to the palm of his hand)

I love that bit when he says "I've got you right here". Amazing. Paddy Considine is one of my favourite actors. I agree with you guys on JGL and Jamie Bell, as in they're my favourite young actors out there.

It's mainly because I'm awesome.

Three years...crazy. And I joined on Halloween, so that's cool. I thought you had been here longer then me though.

Ah fantastic, I saw that 3 years ago and I regularly make people watch it. Damn damn good. Considine is awesome.

I am jealous of your Haneke time.

I saw it pretty recently, and it was highly recommended, but I wasn't impressed, although some of the acting was ok.

I'm struggling, so many of my favourites have already been mentioned, but I just want to put in a good word for Shaun Of The Dead. I know it's no cinematic masterpiece, but I thought it was clever and absolutely hilarious.

Good list. I haven't seen Bad Santa, Whale Rider, Life as a House, Monster's Ball, We Were Soldiers, The King, Ink, Off the Map, No Man's Land, Twilight Samurai, or Northfork. I think 21 Grams was pretty good, Amorres Perros was better, Frailty was great, Garden State was pretty good but the ending ruined it for me, The Wrestler was fantastic, Road to Perdition and Ghost World were both good, and Lars & The Real Girls, Squid & The Whale, and Maria Full of Grace were all fantastic.

Monkeywright and Nathaniel Parker:
Seriously, in his most understated performance ever Sam Elliot is beautiful in 'Off the Map', in case you haven't checked it out, but the performance of young Valentina de Angelis and the paced storyline that makes for better 'solitary' viewing makes this an absolute 'hit' or 'miss' depending on who you talk to.

We Were Soldiers is so bad that it isn't even so-bad-it's-good, which means it is REALLY bad. I watched it a couple years ago on DVD and mentally puked. It takes itself so fucking seriously and has so little merit that the incongruity is baffling.
