I've seen the movie twice. It is excellent and I really think that James Franco did an amazing job playing Aron Ralston. This movie could have been really bad ( one guy suck in one spot for 90 minutes) but the way it was done with multiple camera angles, just enough comic relief, and James Franco's great performance really made it the great movie that it is.

After seeing the film for a second time yesterday I decided to pick up Aron Ralston's book "Between A Rock And A Hard Place". So far I'm 70 pages into the book and I'm really enjoying it. The writing is great and it goes into much more detail then the movie. The book is going to be hard to put down and I can't wait to finish it.

Has anyone else seen the movie or read the book? What are your thoughts on either one or both.

"Between A Rock And A Hard Place".

Oh geez. I don't think I could read this, just from the terrible title.

Was that a serious comment?

Nate, don't hate on that title. It's, like, the ONLY time that phrase could ever be used in a literal sense. The guy would've been an idiot to not use it!

Yeah, I'd really like to read the book. I've seen the guy on a few interviews and he tells his story very very well.

it's probably a great book. I'd just have a hard time reading it because every time I closed it and saw that title I'd just go "UGHH!"
Maybe if i got a paperback copy and just tore the cover off...

The movie was fantastic i loved looking around the theater and watching the people squirm as he cut his arm off. The cinematography was great as well as the general story line. Old friend of mine David Cummins did the was post production.

On a side note during one of Chucks book tours he had these big boxes labeled "Do not open until day of Palahniuk reading" or something along those lines. Well Chuck gets to a few readings and he cant figure out why everyone is acting very rude and rash towards him. Come to find out that Aron Ralston was doing a book tour and hitting up the same places as Chuck the day before, or after i cant remember. What was in these boxes were Chucks assortment of severed limbs. The book shop folks decided to not heed the warning and opened the boxes ahead of time. They then assumed that this was Chuck mocking or making fun of Ralston. Ralston thought it was great and wanted to know where he could get his hand on his own assortments of severed limbs.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I read the book and it was really inspiring and sad and just a great read. I saw him on Dateline or something and read it shortly thereafter.
