Kabol,
I still haven’t gotten around to writing up a letter to Amy yet (have you, and have you found an address to use?)...but I’ve done a few other things.
Instead of just writing to her wishing that we think she could use some Internet support, I figured I’ll just give her some and see how much she would like to participate.

Problem is I have little clue about building a web page. I’ve always wanted to do it, but as I’m not a ‘let me share my personal life’ kinda guy, I never really had a theme to work with.
I’ve got a friend in the UK that has a book and software in the mail to me, and she’s helping me out.

I’ve purchased the site www.amyhempel.com and Lisa put up a ‘coming soon’ page with mention of the new story collection due next year.

Hopefully the book/software will arrive next week and I can slowly get to work on this. I’ll be doing it in concert with still working around 60-70 hours in-lab, so don’t expect an over-night sensation.

Anyway, this weekend I will write a letter to AH telling her about it and shyly asking if she would like to be involved in _any_ way.
I will also write to Simon and Schuster asking if they will help out with ‘tour dates’ and such.

I’ll keep you posted…

Good luck with that Jay, sounds cool. I wonder if she knows about her "status" here at the cult?

Thanks. (and cool new avatar)
This weekend I will be writing her a letter and mentioning such things, in small hopes that she would like to have something, however minimal, to do with the site. Be it soliciting questions, giving recommendations or even mentioning her syllabus for class(es)...but I'm not optimistic; I'm sure people have approached her in the past with such a thing, be it a big fan, a local bookseller or an enamored student.
But it's worth a whirl. And something to do...
I'll post it here...

I havent, as of yet. Picked up some odd-job Christmas stuff. Only stopping in for certainty that the Chuck Shop is up to date. And noticed this bad-ass idea.

Riddlegimp, that ava has me laughing.

No, I havent figured which address to use. Just haven't looked. But I will look into it tonight.

Pretty much, what my letter will be about is the interest the Cult has for her work. And of course I will explain (briefly) the Cult to her Smile Big

Ill be back

That's an awesome idea. A site dedicated to her would be the shizzle. And an author exclusive would be better than anything else I've seen of her on the web.

I wonder if she even knows that she has quite the following on the Cult... probably not.

I've been reading Tumble Home over the last few days. I really like it now that I have gotten into it.

I read a few things of hers online and didn't really "get" them. Now that I've taken the time to really read her work I agree with the others who adore her writing.

I really like the story "The Annex". I almost bought an old house which was directly across the street from a cemetary. While I was reading the story I kept picturing that old house. This house was used in the underground railroad too - lots of history to it. Very big old farm house - but it needed A LOT of work. So I passed on it. But I still wonder if I would have been more inspired to write in a place like that. All those ghosts.

Chuck was right - she will break your heart.
