enjoy the Burroughs book. Naked Lunch is semi-autobiographical so if you ever want to read a good bio on Bill, try Literary Outlaw by Ted Morgan. The reason why it is an infamous book because of the way Burroughs wrote it. When Kerouac and Ginsberg visited bill in Tangier they were shocked as to the way the pages of the book were intentionally collected out of order as way to simulate a "flashback" and "flash forward" effect for the reader. Later he incorporated cut-ups as a literary device.
The Elementary Particles- Michel Houellebecq

A Light in August is such a great book.

I didn't buy it, but I got my free copy of Remainder advertised on this site. I always like free shit.
Think for yourself. Question Authority.
I bought a bunch of investment books - but I won't bore you with those.
Also bought:
- Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner
- The Undercover Economist by Tim Harford (I loved the intro because it described exactly what I was doing to a tee. Anybody who has read it knows what I'm talking about)
- Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
- Fast Food Nation tie-in: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal by Eric Schlosser
- Geek Love by Katherine Dunn
Does anybody know if that Fast Food Nation tie-in is the same as the other Fast Food Nation by that guy? If it isn't I want to read the first one first obviously... I didn't realize what it was when I bought it. I thought I was getting the first one.
Charles Bukowski - Tales of Ordinary Madness and Notes of a Dirty Old Man; Henry Rollins - Black Coffee Blues and Do I Come Here Often?
I just bought Geek Love and Clown Girl from amazon, Ive heard a lot about them from the Cult so I cant wait for them to arrive.
Fight Club...I wanted to re-read it and my brother lost my copy a couple of years ago, so I had to buy a new one. He also managed to ruin my copy of Invisible Monsters. I need to keep him away from my Chuck books.
Marabou Stork Nightmares by Irvine Welsh. I'm on an Irvine Welsh binge...I've read Trainspotting, Porno, Glue and Filth. This was next on my list.
Wicked...I was supposed to go see it on Broadway with my girlfriend and it sounded interesting from her explanation so I figured I'd buy it...but she just dumped me and now I won't be seeing it...though I suppose I'll still read the book.

I went to Chicago with my ex to see that. It was pretty good. And then we broke up. Maybe there's something going on with that musical...
Lame...maybe we should issue some kind of warning to men throughout the world: If you value your relationship, do not see Wicked.
Does anybody know if that Fast Food Nation tie-in is the same as the other Fast Food Nation by that guy? If it isn't I want to read the first one first obviously... Freakonomics is a great book, it's very interesting. I've lent my copy to three other people already. It's amazing what you can find data-mining.

I hear if you like Freakanomics you should check out The Undercover Economist by Tim Harford. I bought that too. But I haven't read it yet.
Fueling my addiction, I bought Franny and Zooey by Salinger, The Travels by Marco Polo, and The Motorcycle Diaries by Ernesto 'Che' Guevara. I though I was going to make it out of the bookstore with only two books, save myself a bit of cash, but those bastards stashed a pile of the fuckers close to the register. I couldn't help myself.
Oooo, that reminds me that I just bought "the Yellow Bible", Southeast Asia on a shoestring. I'm not a huge fan of Lonely Planet's guidebooks, but they're the one you can find everywhere so whaddaygunnado? Also picked up 1000 Things to See Before You Die, but I think this was more of an impulse buy, so I'm not sure I appreciate it all that much. A good chunk of these things to see are hotels that would cost me a month's wages for a single night. But I had a fatty giftcard so whatevs.
Fueling my addiction, I bought Franny and Zooey by Salinger..
that's one of Mirka's favorites. one of Baer's favs too for that matter -- i had to read it for the intensive last year; Sal's is a badass ability when it comes to the page
unfortunately, i've read everything
fortunately, i can read his works over and over again
I think the last book I bought was Serpico (i never realized it was a novel until i plucked it outta the bargin bin, five dollars)
it sits next to my downstairs throne. Im midway with it. intend to hit the bookstore tomorrow -- it's been almost two weeks and i think there is another mccarthy out there i havent yet cracked open

Gatsby's one of my favorite novels. One of my woman's favs too. and one of Chuck's favs, for that matter -- he sighted it constantly in a few of his on-writing essays a few years back
I remember when i picked it up, i thought it too old to be effectual at least to me. damn, was i wrong. nice grab, definitely
