what books did you just buy?
I should be getting my latest order in the mail either today or tomorrow. It contains Squid Pulp Blues by Jordan Krall, Blankety Blank by D. Harlan Wilson, and Necro Sex Machine by Andre Duza.
I get in the mood to read some Bizarro from time to time. To tide me over, I'm reading an ebook version of Unhappy Endings by Brian Keene.
Quickly! Someone attack the zombie before it becomes indifferent!
i picked up the first book to that dark tower series.
I've had the second and third ones for years but never really felt compelled to read them without the first one. Now i'm thinking of going through all of them this summer.
I was looking for this thread last night but didn't feel like finding it. I picked up Pygmy, Nine stories and Franny and Zooey.

oh yeah, i picked up Pygmy when I got that dark tower one. But i'm already hating myself for doing it because I know i'll probably never bother to read it but i wanted it to keep on the shelf next to all my other chuck ones.
I might take it back and exchange it for something else tomorrow.
You should read it Nate - it was amusing. I found myself laughing out loud at a few parts.
I'll probably read it, then return it, like I did with Snuff. I was really pissed when I finished that book and wanted my money back.

I've been listening to the audiobook of "For A New Liberty: The Libertarian Manifesto" by Murray Rothbard, and had to get myself a hard copy. So I went to Liberty Books in Concord and picked one up, yay!
While there, I also got Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal by Ayn Rand, and On Liberty by John Stuart Mill. They had a used copy of The Dice Man for Two Dolla, which I snagged because my bro's birthday is coming up.

I have a problem with buying multiple books at a time and then reading ones that I bought awhile ago and never got to, or something causes me to reread a book to remind me of why I liked it so much. so right now I'm re-reading Tess of the d'Urbervilles and some collections of American short stories which are always a blast to me- because I either think they're really good or they turn into new toilet paper.

Have you read Corpsing by Litt? If so what did you think?
No, this is my first book from him. It is off to a great start. He builds these amazing scenes. I have heard the book gets pretty weird before the end.

You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”

'The New Nation', by this guy Jensen. It's about the Articles of Confederation, history of, etc, which contrary to popular belief, "worked" quite well. The downfall of them - they gave the government too much power.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
just out of curiosity, when was the last time you just read a regular book? Not one on or about the government or ideology?
I just finished 1984, does that count? Before that, Universally Preferable Behavior (book on ethics written by an Anarcho-Capitalist) before that, The Metamorphosis.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
Not quite sure what I think of it, yet.
I read that book some time last year...crazy stuff in that book. I really had to take my time with it or I'll get lost really easily.
I guess I would of enjoyed it a lot more if there wasn't so much to take in at one time.

I bought a secondhand book. Moby Dick. I've never read it before. This one's special, because on the left page, there's English, and on the right page Chinese.
It cost €3. Just had to buy it.
I was also looking at French books. There were some really old ones, that were about to fall apart. I was so tempted to get those as well. But looking through the pages, it was just too hard. My French isn't that great yet. I need to find easier French books to read.
I couldn't find any of the other books that I wanted. They need to expand the collection of English books in bookstores here.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy....just joined the Cult Book Club!
Or will it all end in a big bankiss orgy?
Look forward to you in discussion!

Moby Dick is awesome. Nate would approve, I'm sure. The Chinese bit baffles me a bit, but I'll recover.
As for French books, there's a good short one called L'Ecume des Jours by Boris Vian that I recommend to anyone who can read French. It is one of my all time faves.

Lunar Park IS great, and deserves more love than it gets.

Found out on friday that the Chinese robbed me of some chapters. The book is significantly thinner than the original.
I just like things that are different, I guess, haha.
Ohhh, thanks! I'll definitely look it up.

I think the most recent English translation of it is called Foam of the Daze. It's absolutely incredible. It starts out very innocently, but quickly becomes one of the saddest and angriest novels I've ever read. And it's hilarious in parts, too. Read it!

Been meaning to pick this up since it came out. And then I saw it in the bargain book section of Barnes and Noble. Can't beat getting a book off your wishlist in hardcover for $5.99.

i have this book, too, and i love it!! it's so full of dog ears and scraps of paper that it will barely stay shut.
