I just finished Joe by Larry Brown and now I'm reading the sequel, Fay. Both books are awesome. I'm in a "grit-lit" phase at the moment. Only reading Southern authors. Harry Crews, Larry Brown, Tim McLaurin, Doris Betts.

Just finished Sweetheart - Chelsea Cain. Not as good as Heartsick, but not many books are. I stumbled upon Chelsea after hearing recommendations from both Ville Valo
(of the Finnish band HIM), and Mr. Palhniuk himself. With no new Chuck 'til may, I'm looking for someone else with which to bide my time. Any suggestions?

I Love Hunter S. Thompson, Brett Easton Ellis, Edgar Allen Poe, and Mark Twain, to name a few. But I find my interests lack enough contemporary, or living authors.

Please help!

A biography of Roald Dahl because my tutor wrote it (and set it for class). But for fun, various books about literary theory. Typing that made me feel like a prick.

Imagine I said something with more guns in.

I started Money by Martin Amis, who I think just wrote the novel around his use of the word "nigger" in the first chapter.

A very long but oddly compelling thriller called 'The Exception' by Christian Jungerson. Highly recommended although I'm still 50 pages from the end of it's nearly 600 pages.

The Essential Feminist Reader by Estelle Freedman (just a compilation of essays/letters

Deliverance by James Dickey

All Saints by Brenda Marie Osbey

The Dharma Bums by Kerouac

on a funny note, my friend thought it'd be a good idea to buy me a present.... a book... from Walmart. So he buys me something called, "Urban Series presents: Trophy Wife."

While the thought is appreciated, wth about me screams "Trophy Wife?"

That reminds me of the books in the bookstore on Campus. The store seems to lack alot of classics or popular contemporary authors, but it's stocked with the "Sex in da Hood" series.. and various other "urban" books..

It's gotten alot better over the years though, I'm pretty content with the selection now.

Anyhow,

I read Dharma Bums earlier this year, hope you enjoy it. Some love it, some hate it.
