Water For Elephants?
So I have a friend who has desperately been trying to get me to read Water For Elephants, but quite frankly, I don't trust their taste. has anyone here read it? Was it a good read, etc?

i didn't think this book was absolutely terrible but it wasn't by any means groundbreaking or deserving of any type of honorable mentions. i will say that the author did a tremendous job of researching the subject and some of the facts concerning early traveling circus life were interesting. other than that, it wasn't something i would bother to read if i could turn back time
I thought a much more enjoyable book set around that period was Glen David Gold's "Carter Beats the Devil".
I liked this book. It wasn't amazing, but it kept me engaged.
The reason for the bump is because I saw that Robert Pattinson is supposedly playing the lead in the book-to-film adaptation of Water for Elephants.
I don't know what to think.
I liked this book as well. The story was intriqueing and I liked the way it was told. The author presented a really good view of a depression era circus. I say it's worth a read.
Robert Pattinson.....? Seriously? Ugh!!
Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it.

Read it and if its shite kick your friend in the face really hard, disfiguring them for life, that way they'll understand the importance of not recommending shitty books every time they see a mirror.
