Trash lit you actually enjoy
Finished The Girl Next Door last night. Yeah, by golly, much more of a swift kick to the psyche than Let's Go Play at the Adams'. Far less sumptuous in its language and we stay in on one character's POV the whole book. What makes it a far better book is while LGPATA is trying to comment of the inherent savage nature of children a la Lord of the Flies, Girl Next Door is about America itself at the peak of our supposed glory, golden days of the 1950's, the ghastly hypocracies and the cost of our insane repressions and obsessions. It is a hard read, but it is a hard read with something to say. It ends with on a statement that justice is dependent on each indvidual's commitment to do what is right. Standing by an watching evil take place makes you just as culpable as those committing it. Pulpy, trashy, horrific--yeah. But an unforgettable coming of age tale.

I bought a cheap non fiction book about a cop team from New York, it was excellent. Title: COP TEAM.
