The Trial, by that Kafka dude

Anyone else read this? I just finished.
Man, what a depressing read. It's got these really amusing scenes, but overall you just crumble under the sense of desperate futility of it all. As with most of Kafka's writings, this is a little raw and could have done with a lot more work, but the first third of the novel is as gripping as you're likely to find in philosophical novels. There was some snubby thread a while ago about how Kafka was overrated and The Metamorphosis sucks. If you subscribe to that opinion, perhaps this will change your mind.
Poor Josef K.

I actually read this book about...eh...I guess it was six years ago in high school for a senior year English elective called "The Philosophical Novel." Outstanding class...we had to analyze the books not only from a literary perspective, but philosophically as well. The Trial really is an amazing book...incredibly deep and provocative, particularly if you put serious thought into the symbolism and whatnot.
