I love the sepia and black and white toned matching ones. I wish they'd make an American Psycho one to match.
I searched long and hard to find the Rules of Attraction one. At the time the movie was really popular and everywhere had the movie tie-ins. Here are the covers I have.

I just love these covers. They're so simple.

Those are the covers I have. I love them too. The only one I don't have is The Informers. I'm planning on getting it soon, but the only one Borders has with that cover has a huge movie sticker that doesn't seem removable.

haqhaqhahahah! nice, vey nice, Timberly.
Pete, those sepia/black and white toned ones look great. i think mine may be the Uk editions. you've seen them, right? if not, here you go:

not the best photo. but it's much easier than me locating all six of them online somewhere.

Those are freaking awesome. They all match. I love it. My AP and Glamorama don't match each other or the other books at all. And I don't have Lunar Park yet.

Yeah - I really like those Matt.
Lunar Park is like Chrome here. Glamorama doesn't match. And neither does American Psycho.
It would be sweet if they made them all the same.
Yeah, AP is a close up of some dude's pretty face. At least it's not Christian Bale. AMIRITE?

no. you're not ignorant. far from it. observative. have you read Less Than Zero, yet? it's a fantastic little book. pretty full on, though.
it isn't coincidental at all. yes, both Less Than Zero and Imperial Bedrooms are Elvis Costello tunes. i'm not entirely sure whether this is somekind of device, or has some kind of symbolism to it. i'd love to hear if anyone has any theories on it.
i think it's just because Clay, the narrator of both books, is into Costello. he has a poster of him up in his room when he comes back home. he then describes the poster as staring at him, i think. maybe elvis costello is consistent, he's there, always has been, unlike Clay's parents? and the continuation of Costello shows that he is still around, in clay's life, even all these years later. honestly, i don't know, i'm just pulling shit outta my arse now. come on someone, help me out here!
and i guess, maybe the lyrics of each song act as a sort of synopsis of the mood Ellis is trying to envoke. maybe.
there's a few big Ellis fans around here, especially of Less Than Zero, so maybe someone will be kind enough to shed more light on the unilluminated subject for us.
too bloody right!

Happens to also be on my list--next up in fact. I already read the fist few chapters, but am treating this like an orgasm. The longer you wait until that final climax.....

Matt you pretty much got what I've always thought. The poster in Clay's room is always starring out the window though which frightens Clay a lot because he keeps thinking that somebody is out there looking in on him - the irony being that nobody, not his parents or friends except maybe Blair, really is paying much attention to what he's doing and nobody ever listens to what they are saying to eachother.
I think Costello is just a favorite for BEE and that comes through into the novel he wrote while still in college. I absolutely love LTZ and I can't wait for IB!
Or will it all end in a big bankiss orgy?
good. so i'm not just some mental kid that obsesses over miniscule details. lately i have been led to believe otherwise.

I haven't, but it sounds good, so I'll definitely pick it up sometime, along with Imperial Bedrooms.
That's wicked cool though, Costello's great.

This little guy was sent all the way to my old house in Idaho before it circulated down to Utah. Very glad to see it show up--complete with personalized inscription!

You should teach English.
"There’s no use in denying it: this has been a bad week. I’ve started drinking my own urine." -Patrick Bateman
well, i'm doing a BA in english lit and creative writing at the moment, so, i may end of doing so. if it turns out that i am intelligent and not in fact full of shit.
I finished The Easter Parade (Richard Yates) yesterday and I was really disappointed with the ending. It seemed sloppy and inconclusive. I also realised that although I enjoy his writing, his characters are all very similar and I don't really like them. Usually I am deterred by elements in a book like this, but I kept on reading this time.
i just finished reading Baer's Blood Porn script. fucking hell. it's so damn good. he writes the best fucking opening scenes. and his descriptions, even in the bland and direct screenplay format are beautiful.
i can't wait for Godspeed. god damnit, it's the new Chinese Democracy.
I have heard nothing about this... I love Baer but I feel like I'm never on the inside with info about him.
I feel the same way. I hope it doesn't disappoint...
Also I've heard some weird rumors about MacAdam/Cage. I don't even want to say them here because I'm not sure if they were true...
oh, no.
anyway, man, here's the link to the blood porn script:
http://www.willchristopherbaer.com/misc.php
there's also a whole lost novel called, Sometimes Rachael.
I've read Sometimes Rachel. It's pretty good. It's not Kiss me, Judas. But you can see bits of the same dark characters.
After looking at it - I have read Blood Porn. As usual from Baer - good stuff!
brilliance on paper.
This is a very pointless announcement involving the book club.
I need a bookshelf. I should just fork over the $15 and snag one down at Walmart. But then my cats would climb into it. Sleep in it. Lick their assholes up in there. I'd be forced to rearrange the books back to their proper places every day or so. Vacuum cat hair out of the crevices. Polish the fucking thing. However, my current shelf-o-bookage is so full, that I immediately have to remove my next read when replacing the one I just finished.
And I'm still buying more fucking books. Help me.

problem solved.
no worries.
A shelf with doors?! Egad, man!

What's your closet situation like? I use my linen closet as a library.
Have you never seen a cabinet that has shelves and doors enclosing said shelves?
We don't have those yet in Utah. Shit, our best technology was the recent upgrade to dial-up.

damn, you behind the times fool. the future is awesome!
Is A Clockwork Orange good?
I know someone who's reading it, and he's having a ton of trouble.
I bought Less Than Zero the other day, and have failed to start it.
You're a brighter little soul than all of the jaded people here. Never take them seriously. NEVER.
Start it now!
It's one of my favorite books. Less than Zero that is. I've never made gave A Clockwork Orange a full attempt. I'm too intimidated by the language even though I have a glossary for the terms.
I shall right now.
I also have the glossary for A Clockwork Orange, it sounds fucked up, not going to lie.
You're a brighter little soul than all of the jaded people here. Never take them seriously. NEVER.
so fucked up.
definitely read LTZ. it's one of my favourites, too. and you can eat it all up in one go.
have fun!
Yeah, I think that cover is perfect for the story. Clay, with his eyes and mouth blocked out, looks all void of emotion and stuff.
has anyone read that book, i think it's called The Orchid Thief, that the brilliant film Adaptation was sort of based on?
i did have it in my too-buy list for a while, but forgot about it.
I know someone who's reading it, and he's having a ton of trouble.

I love Clockwork. My first attempt at reading it, I got about 3 chapters in before giving up. I tried again a few months later and once you get used to the language and memorize the most frequently used words, it gets really good. Just stick it out.

Probably the best thing for reading Clockwork Orange is seeing the movie first. You get to hear most of the slang and the connotation to it, then when you're reading the book it's just like reading normally.
Probably the only instance where the movie enhances the book.
I've been meaning to read A Clockwork Orange for a while now. It is my number one all time favorite movie.

I still didn't get Knockemstiff.
It's been sent, but it's taking forever.
aww, imke. i can't wait for you to read it!
So the Dean of my English department has a 3 year old daughter and, bless her heart, she wants to have a fundraiser for an Animal Shelter.
So, between him, his wife, and Isabella, they're selling over 1,000 books this Saturday - all for under a dollar a piece. I mean, I hate to sound like a dork, but yeah I'm pretty freaking excited about it.
I'm taking Emma so she can pick out a couple kids books and I'm equally excited about purchasing academic books as well as literature.
#hardonforbooks
hardonforbooks, indeed.
what a beautiful little girl. it's good to know that we're still breeding good peoples.
Still haven't finished Less Than Zero.
Ibeafail.
But I'm also reading a book for english class that I need to finish, soo

no excuses!
it's only a mini-book. it's a one night stand of a thing. but the kind you thinking about calling the next day, you know?

Is it just a coincidence that Imperial Bedrooms and Less Than Zero are names of an Elvis Costello album and song? Or does it have significance?
-Pardon my ignorance.
