uhh....good point?
hehe not really, i just dont like him. he looks like some of the guys in his stories, have you seen him?
Just out of curiosity, are those that are down on King , because they've bought some or all of his books and been disappointed, or because of his success in the mass market? or what other reason ?

Karb!

I would LOVE to make $33k a year...how could someone survive on that? I only made $10k last year! And I've got to pay for a damn wedding. (which isn't going to happen with $500.....guess we're eloping)
I refused to be stuck with paper

King insulting...
Nope, not sharing.
I have read a few of his books and I do not like his writing at all. But I enjoyed Bleachers (King just doesn't often write a story to write a story, always so conscious of the rest of the world reading his material. It was nice to find a good, solid story written by the man).
To each his own. I am not a fan. But I can't bring myself to insult and ridicule the man. I do enough of that to Grisham and Clancy!!

It all depends on where you live. couldn't live on that in cali, but here in ohio, that's middle class...
i support myself, my wife and my daughter on less than that, and we're not living the poor life.
dean koontz gets $6 million advance for North American and book club rights ALONE to a novel.

I can't beleive there are so many king bashers here. If you sat down and read hearts in atlantis or the gunslinger novels then maybe your opinion would change. Hell If you are like me you read books from all different genre's. You should see my book case king beside palahniuk beside the bronte sisters beside dante beside anne rice beside nick hornby beside Sun Tzu beside shakespeare beside vonnegut. I beleive in sampling a little from every type of literature, it makes things more interesting and sometimes you need a change from general fiction or horror

Didn't Grisham write Bleachers? Or am I thinking of something else?
Different Seasons has three novellas that are not horror. I also liked his book On Writing. I was surprised. His most important advice is to keep reading.
I don't see how people don't respect a man who has written so much and done so well. Even if a lot of it is ... sub-par for your standards. The man keeps writing no matter what. That's commendable. Not every writer can make everyone like every book, not even Chuck. If you only have one book--or song, or painting, or movie, or whatever--that people remember, you've done better than most. Everyone on this forum can think of at least one King book, for good or ill.
Most of Stephen King's stuff sucks ass. You better believe that happy-crappy...
It's not easy having a good time.
Even smiling makes my face ache.
never compare stephen king to grisham or clancy. you are a travesty.
grisham sucks, clancy sucks. I'd rather watch flowers bloom than read one of their books....so freakin boring.

dont his movies suck enough?
