Why the interest in serial killers any how?

I have to admit that I'm sort of fascinated by serial killers and crazy people in general. Not in the way that I think such atrocities should be glamourized, but because there seems to be something very specific that is broken in these people and I think that most of the time it is learned behavior.

A lot of time your dealing with a very specific psychosis and a dollop of the sociopath thrown in for good luck. When I worked in the psychiatric field I read a really good book that I can't for the life of me remember. It went into the fact that in most cases the act of violence, torture etc was not evil because the individual committing the crime did not perceive evil, to them it was as normal as, oh I don't know, taking a shit for example. Its a shame that a lot of killers were given the death sentence before we had a better understanding of mental health issues, we could have learned so much from them alive. I worked on occasion with some very dangerous individuals who were hearing commanding voices and because of the stigma of religion that most children are brought up with either within the family and or at school they would often go down a religious path that to them was one hundred percent real. I actually writ a paper while at college that introduced me through research to the notion that a lot of insane people, psychotics anyway, go down a religious path because of what they are taught, sorry essga it took me a while to get here. In many cases the insane person would hear a voice and their rational would lead them to make the link that the disembodied voice was of a religious nature, after all we are told at school, in england at least, to say a prayer to an invisible entity. Of course a psychotic in the worst scenario can have hallucinations of all five senses and they could see a person/demon whatever to go along with the voice. I'm stopping now while I still can.

Yeah, serial killers can be very interesting. I will go through some old notes and find the names of some of the better books I read during my time in that particular field of study.

Kin ell Zoth, don't ever apologize for being curious, its the juice that keeps me interested. Odds on we have things in common, you mentioned you ran a junk habit seven years ago, its been about three years ago for me, how did you end up there, curiosity by any chance. Its not always the healthy option, apparently it killed the cat but I wouldn't change my nature. I don't even think I could.

Ah, heroin n coke all mixed up in the same rig. If I thought I could let my demons out for one day and trust them to go back without argument than I would celebrate each birthday with one of those but sadly I learned the hard way that my own inner demons are tricksey little fuckers. For 10 to 13 years my life was nothing short of a chaotic mess but I try to find positives from that time ie the places it took me and what I found out about myself and not to mention some of very odd characters I met. Strange times indeed but back to Zandre and his original post, where is you bro, what ya gonna do, read it, not read it, don't run away were lovely people really, plus we need a vict...err new friend for the very special Christmas sacri...err party. Ha yeah I'm still here. I'm planning on picking it up as soon as I finish up Snuff. The book's cheap enough so I figure what the hell.

I finished reading The Serial Killers Club by Jeff Povey. I thought based on the title and premise, it would be worth a read. But it's unfunny and dull. The so-called "king of killers" was kinda lame.
