Well, why not?

Here's my first:

Vendetta:

The Peculiar Memories of Thomas Penman, by Bruce Robinson.

You need to read this even if it must be burglary.

I'm ordering it up, yo. S'Bruce, innit?!

Does anyone else want to recommend something to me? I need to add £3.16 to my order to qualify for supersaver delivery.

I can imagine that you would LOVE Eamon Holmes's autobiography: This is My Life. (Not that i've read it) Yesterday he was doing a signing for it in the bookshop I was in.

I recommended to Cindy Weston "The doll" by Boleslaw Prus, and now she is probably cursing me for that.

because if you don't know the polish history, and you don't have some knowledge about XIX century Warsaw, I's very difficult to read.

To whoever likes Max Barry (and really, to anyone who's never read him): Company. I'm about 90 pages into it. It's a great, quick read. Definitely at least as good as Jennifer Government so far, which I liked better than Syrup. So, check it out.

I've been curious about reading his new book for the last two months. Been meaning to check it out at the library, but it has a 5 or 6 person wait list on it from other cheapskates like myself.

I recommend The Secret History by Donna Tartt to SnowWhite - based on what I know of your film tastes etc you may like it. I liked it a lot!

I just finished Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor....

Thing beginning is a tad slow but the way she gets into these characters' minds is amazing...very dark world she portrays.

Hey man I made a thread about this author! I love her! Especially The Little Friend. Glad you liked it too! I'm just fucked off it takes her about ten years to write a book.

I recommend you The Liar, by Stephen Fry. I think you might appreciate the humour.
Also, you may enjoy some of Christopher Hampton's plays.

You're spot on too, loved that book.

I recommend you Lucky by Anne Sebold. If you've not read it already!

Cheers dude - I need to buy some new books. I'm still trying to get a copy of Vernon God Little; probably will need to Amazon it as no one in Harrow or Hampshire seems to have it!

A to the wesome. I've just picked up "Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas" by Robbins after a few people assured me I would enjoy it.

So this Invalid book is going right on the Amazon list to be added to the Everest of "to-reads" by my bed.

Gracias!

Oh, here's a recce for your good self:

Them: Adventures with Extremists - Jon Ronson.

To Vendetta because we seem to have the same trash tastes (L J Smith, Sweet Valley High, Buffy, Wife Swap - haha): 48 Shades of Brown by Nick Earls. It's a funny teen-ish (but I think anyone would find it a good read) book about a guy who lives with his funky young aunt for a year in high school rather than go to Geneva with his parents.

Riddlegimp may like another book by Nick Earls called Zigzag Street. It's about a 28 year old guy coping (badly) with a break up, very funny stuff.

That sounds cool, thanks for thinking of me I'm always on the lookout for new books to check out. Anyway, I'll recommend a couple of books to you by pretty much the same token, teen-targeted books that are great for adults looking for a quick, entertaining read:

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson - This lady has a great, minimalistic style and manages to deal with quite a serious matter in a unique and humorous way. I would recommend anything by this author, in fact.

Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block - I read this book over and over again when I was younger. I couldn't find it in any shops though and had to keep getting it out of the library. It's by no means realistic but there's something fascinating about it. Now I have my very own copy...which has been commandeered by my little sister.

I hope one of these piques your interest!
