And that is Neal Stephenson. Snow Crash is an awesome novel, and Cryptonomicon is better than Gravity's Rainbow. I'm reading it now (it's even longer than GR) and I can barely put it down.
Do yourself a favour and read Snow Crash at least.

Snow Crash was pretty brilliant. I like the guy a lot more than William Gibson in that genre.
just looked him up on amazon. more books to add to the pile. really though, looks great. might have to pick this up soon.
i'll give this a try. anything in this genre should be better than dan brown's digital fortress.
I always wanted to try his baroque trilogy, but it seemed way too dense for me.
