MAY I ask you what you're reading?
I'm still finishing the last Hunger Games book and my boyfriend's new novel but looking to read Cosmopolis by Don Delilo next.
And yourselves?
I have about 20 pages to go in the Lake by Banana Yoshimoto. It's Meh. How appropriate.
I finished Praise of Motherhood and I'm still reading The Thin Man.
Still reading The Nuremberg Interviews and rereading Shantaram. I've got another book waiting for me after I'm done with those two (Berlin Noir by Philip Kerr) and I can't wait to start on that one, yay!
Started Girl With the Dragon Tattoo the other day. It's really good so far. I read about 100 pages in 4-5 hours. I'm excited to get back into pleasure reading after all this goddamned work these past few weeks.
Dudes, I fucking finished Remembrance of Things Past - IN FRENCH. ALL SEVEN BOOKS! It can't get better than that. I'm reading some Freud but will start something lighter in the evening, maybe Isabel Allende, to go with the heat.
I'm reading The Last Bachelor by Jay McInerney which will mean I've read all of McInerney's fiction. Hopefully he comes out with something new soon.
I only have the Good Life, left to read by him. He's one of my favourites.
Currently reading Silk by Caitlin R. Kiernan. Have not yet gotten to her newest book, The Drowning Girl, though have two copies of it sitting on my bookshelf. I wanted to read her first book, which is Silk. So far, I love it.
I'm reading the diaries of Paul Klee. Interesting guy, that Klee.
I'm really enjoying The Testimony by James Smythe.
Hey! We sort of know him. His first book was part of a Welsh literature thing called Bright Young Things. He is a cool guy, that book sounds great.
Read Screwjack by Hunter S Thompson and started Light in August by William Faulkner. I'm only 15% into it but I love it already.

AMY!!!! if I didn't already think you are AWESOME. I would be insanely jealous of you.
I'm only 70 pages into this book and I've already ordered a copy for a friend.
That's the plan, Alecia. I started off on the wrong foot with it, when I read The Sound and The Fury for class back in 2007, in Romanian. I didn't like it. But every other book I've read in English was just amazing, so it must've been a poor translation or something. Faulkner is amazing and I am so glad and relieved that I get him.
I think I've read The Sound and The Fury. Is that the one with the "slow" narrator every few chapters? I liked it, but I found it a difficult read. I don't think I would find it as difficult now though - I'm a better reader now!
Where should I go now? I've always wanted to read more Faulkner. The only other one I own is the one about the murderer (Sanctuary? I think).

That's amazing! I really want to read it (bought it already) but I've got a queue of things I have to read right now.

I liked Sanctuary. And yeah, The Sound and the Fury is the one with the handicapped narrator, Benjy. It is the inspiration for Phil's song Quentin Will End Up Killing Himself, too.
Try Light in August, I've gone through so much of it today that I might just finish it tonight. Or maybe Alecia can help, she seems to have read more.
Praise of Motherhood by you know who.
I'm almost through Lullaby again and heading the library next week to see if they have anything on my must-read list.
Look up into the stars and you're gone.
I will Alecia. We really have similar taste in books. So I trust your judgement.
I also started Game of Thrones. Do I really need to say how it is?
I'm planning on starting on the series some time after season two is finished. I don't want to confuse myself.

Yeah, McInerney's pretty great. Has anyone read his non-fiction?

You wouldn't confuse yourself, you'd just understand more about the characters and it'll be easier to follow.
Trainspotting (again) and then Skagboys.
I am going to read Norwegian Wood.
I used to heard about Norwegian Wood film, so i want to read it
SPAM
I fucking hate Irvine Welsh.
The Great American Novel by Philip Roth.
Just finished Kiss Me Judas. Going back to King--just started 'Salem's Lot.
The Panda Theory by Pascal Garnier.
Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart
The Apprenticeship of William Meister by Goethe.
I'm reading Never Mind by Edward St Aubyn after BEE was talking about him on Twitter. How come he hasn't been mentioned around here before? SO GOOD!
I've never heard of him, but his books sound really good. I'll have to check him out.
I'm finishing off In a Strange Room by Damon Galgut.
I'm also going to see if my favourite bookstore stocks that author Amy Digits mentioned.
Has anyone read The Art of Fielding yet?
PS I like Baseball...
PS I like Baseball...
I haven't but I heard it's great.
I'm a Cubs fan due to Feank and his family.
I was in the city last year having a coffee outside with friends and I spotted this disabled kid wearing a Cubs shirt. I shouted Go Cubs! He smiled and then I shouted Sox Suck! And he gave me the thumbs up. Later his family were passing and thanked me for what I shouted at the kid.

FEANK! I'm going to leave it like that.
I've just read my first literary thing in Portuguese. Well, not really my first, I'd read a few poems before, but this was pretty ok. You died on me (Morreste-me) by Jose Luis Peixoto.
Yes, Edward St Aubyn would be so popular on here! It's very dark, quite hateful about the upper classes but also funny. It's so good, very addictive, I've already ordered the second book in the Melrose series!
They have an edition with the first three books of the series in it. And then you just have to buy the last book.
I had already bought the first book on its own =[ Also, I found At Last which says it's Melrose 5, but I thought there were only 4. Wish I'd seen the collection of all 3 before I bought the first.

Aren't you sweet?
I saw the Yankees (yes I know, boo) play when I first went to NY (aged 12) and I absolutely loved it. I've always felt sad that baseball has never properly caught on in the UK and to keep up with it you had to tune into Channel 5 in the very early hours of the morning.
The Art of Fielding is good so far!
I love hearing non-Americans (or Canadians and South Americans) appreciate the game. That is all.

Youth by J. M. Coetzee.

In our heads, we’re all jotting down the line:I happen to know a lot about human insides . . .
And nothing more happens. More nothing happens. "
Here in Venezuela, baseball is the national sport.

I am still reading Norwegian Wood but as soon as I'm finished I will read The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides. I must admit that I have been partly seduced by its pretty cover.
EDIT: Haha, I only just got the thread title joke.
