Kiss Me judas question?*SPOILERS*
There use to be a thread on this but I think it's gone now? So I just finished Kiss Me Judas by Will Christopher Baer and I have a question about the ending. At the end Horatio wants to ask Phineas a question and he's thinking it's gonna be "will you kill me". But he says will you kiss me? In the very last sentence of the book he says Oh Lucy if you only asked me this. So does this mean that Lucy asked Phineas to kill her and end her suffering??? Any thougths on this or what you thought about the book would be great.
So the next book will answer questions about what happened to his wife Lucy??? I ordered "Penny Dreadful" not long ago and I should get it next week. I can't wait to read it. WCB is such an amazing writer. Kiss Me Judas sucked me into this nightmare of a place and I didn't want to put it down.
I noticed that, Kiss Me , Judas is out of print. Is the book worth it to hunt it down?
(sorry to bring back a old thread, but this book looks very interesting.)
It is definetly worth hunting down. It's not that hard to find. i got a 1st printing hardcover from half.com for about $9.00. I also got a Penny Dreadful hardcover for pretty cheap.
Why is it out of print? How old is it?
Facts are simple and facts are straight. Facts are lazy and facts are late. Facts all come with points of view, facts don't do what I want them to. Facts just twist the truth around. Facts are living turned inside out. Facts are getting the best of them. Facts are nothing on the face of things. Facts don't stain the furniture, facts go out and slam the door. Facts are written all over your face. Facts continue to change their shape.
THANKSSSSSSSSSSS.
Just bought it. hard cover.
I would say i love you but that would sound weird.
I finally got around to finishing Penny Dreadful and it's a great book. You're right it did answer some of the questions I had about Kiss Me Judas. I'm still not sure what I think about the ending. I didn't really like what happens to Eve. That was the one character in the book that I really grew to like and feel for. I could picture her in my mind and if it's ever made into a movie I think Anna Paquin should play her for some reason.
As for the original question...
THat IS explained in Kiss Me, Judas (I'm sure of this, because I'm not done with Penny Dreadful yet, but I know the answer.)
**SPOILER(of KMJ, not PD)**
She was dying of cancer and wanted to be shot and put her out of her misery.
They go out in a boat and he shoots her (or maybe she shoots herself, I'm not positive...but this doesn't matter) and through some freak accident she does NOT die. So now she's in the most excruciating pain any of us can imagine (cuz she got shot in the face), and she needs him to shoot her again so she can be put out of this far-worse misery.
He freezes, and can't do it...so she dies slowly and in agony.
This is why he's so haunted by the memory of her in the boat etc. This is why he's so possessive of his gun (it was used to shoot his wife). THis is why he had to steal his gun from the evidence locker (it was a 'murder weapon').
Hope this helps.

read his next book, Penny Dreadful. It's got all the answers, plus it's a really good book.
