"I could have done worse!" exultantly cried the murderer Lebret, sentenced at Rouen to hard labor for life. — Félix Fénéon
September - Transubstantiate
October - Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart
November - Candy by Luke Davies
December - Blank Gaze (or The Implacable Order of Things) by Jose Luis Peixoto
January - [taking request!]
February - Out of Touch by BT
And we'll see if Mirka will suggest the January book. haha
Sorry that I reposted Matt haha
I had the screen typed and ready to go - I was just waiting on confirmation from BT that we could do that in February.
Also, for the Peixoto, you have to put the American title too. I tried searching under the other title and nothing came up here in the States.
Yeah it is!
Theres a really good range of books too, at least in my opinion.
ooh sorry, PHIL!
this is gonna be awesomeee! you should post the list in the book club pointless anouncements thread, in case people don't see it here!

when i searched on amazon.com Blank gaze came up. hmm.
I'm really liking Portrait of an Addict as a Young Man by Bill Clegg. Which is good since most amazon reviews slated it. One guy said Not Another Addiction Book! Im wondering if yu read the title and the back of the book it clearly states ITS A BOOK ABOUT ADDICTION! If you dont like books about addiction dont buy the fucking thing and certainly dont post a review on amazon if you really dont like addiction books.
Im going to review every single cook book on Amazon with the title: POOP
and my review will be NOT ANOTHER COOK BOOK I wanted a Twilight spinoff!
hahahaha! i love it when you get like this Derek. stick around, your smart arsery is appreciated. i know, i know, i always tell you how funny you are, but whatever.
Last April I went to Barcelona for two days on my own. Volcano cloud made me wait another week and I came home with 34 new friends. Two of my favourites are coming to stay with me this weekend. In Galway city there is the horseracing festival which is great but also full of posers and knobs. Then we will be going out in my town for a couple of nights. I fucking hate going out in my town because any of the bars that arent full of trouble are full of tossers. If there is one thing I dont like its Pretentiousness therefore I'm going to read American Pyscho by Bret Easton Ellis so I can laugh at all these assholes I know who say they are stockbrokers in London when really what they do is clean out septic tanks with their own toothbrushes and come home and wear the same suit all week. (You see it really was about I'm reading)
that post was amazing. please come back.
War Dances by Sherman Alexie.
I'm having so much trouble investing in a novel I figured I might as well read some short stories. That way I can put it down and walk away with less guilt mid-book.
There is hope, but not for us.
I'm reading Post Office by Bukowski and since I'm leaving for a three-week trip around Europe I got myself a stash: Seize the Day by Saul Bellow, Hotbed by Portia da Costa, Cocaine Nights by J.G.Ballard, The Natural Order of Things by Antonio Lobo Antunes and Your Name Written on Water by Irene Gonzalez Frei, the original Spanish version.
YAY I FINISHED THIS. It was a quick read.
Now reading Indigenous Resistance by Noam Chomsky.
There is hope, but not for us.
You read the best books. Like, you're ALWAYS reading good books. I wish you'd post more.
Cocaine Nights is better than Super-Cannes, I think, even though they're both basically the same book.
Also, Antonio Lobo Antunes is one of my country's best writers. I don't know if they've translated his Cronicas, a series of books about his past told in little vignettes; but if so, I recommend it.

Wow, thanks. I don't post as often as I'd like to because I sometimes read local literature and no one would know about it. Haven't read Super-Cannes, just Crash, and I thought it was pretty cool. And then my favourite porn star writes this twit saying she feels Rant and Crash are really similar, and I'm confused cause a pornstar could actually read good stuff, then fazed cause they're not really alike, at all. Well, maybe except for cars being part of the story
). I wish I could read Portuguese, someday I wanna learn by myself, I chose Catalan as a third language in college. Oh well.
We're throwing our annual BBQ / Bonfire / Bash tomorrow. I'm only mentioning this because the weather says it's supposed to rain all day. Damn you Derek for sending your rain to the States! haha
Last night I started Ham on Rye by Bukowski. I got sucked in and couldn't put it down. I stayed up way too late reading it and then didn't get any sleep. Excellent!

I've gotten more done this morning that I have in a long time! haha
What are the other two? That way I can order them in advance?
