judge a book NEGATIVELY by its cover.
yep. the exact oppostite of kerplunk's topic. so fire away, there's plenty of shitty covers out there, for example:

ps. this book cover is certainly NOTa reason to live.
your sig, teamed with that post is nothing short of hysterical.
i want to read satan burger.
Are you a Sardine.
i fuck badgers, im a badger fucker.

i don't.
i read a couple of things of his and i'm so off it. his style, his prose his ideas. it's all garbage. i had a decent discussion a while back with someone in the Bizarro thread. you should check it out if you're interested in checking out some of this style of stuff. it's certainly not what i expected i would be.
now, cover's people!
i personally HATE, with a deep an profound passion, books that after being made into a major-motion bit of crap have a new cover of the actors on the front hiding behind a gigantic sticker that says: now a major-motion film starring blah blah blah.
This observation has made my day.

Yeah, fuck that shit.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
I agree. I keep putting off buying more of Cormac McCarthy's books because of the "now a major motion picture" sticker on them.
yeah, you're right there Mood. and, BT, yours isn't showing up.
the cover of syrup i have should probably go in the other thread. it just has a glass of drink on it. kind of lik the modern classics version of Clockwork Orange, but not milk. genius.
oh-fuckin-boo!
so what's the damn picture of?

It's because your innernets is Australian.
I can't see it either. it just says Adam Pagart's account has been inactive for 90 days.
Can you link i tto amazon or something? I'd be interested to know which C of D cover you hate.
Normally I would say, yes, lame, BUT...
Revolutionary Road, aw.
Hahaha that's hilarious.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
revolutionary road was both a bad book and an even worse film/adaption. i really didn't like it at all. i didn't even finish the book when i read it. and as for that cover...well,i'm glad it's in this thread.
You don't come across as someone who would like it either.
i'm a bit of a romantic, and i absolutely love a great love story. truely. but it was just really bland for me. even my girlfriend hated it, and she likes some horrendously sappy, romantic stuff.
i just don't understand it, at all. the characters where so dull. fill me in, tell me what did it for you?

You don't even sound like you've read/seen it at all!
I was gonna say, bland?! We can't have read the same book/watched the same movie.
EDIT_
The book and movie are also anything but sappy. April's character is a very interesting/powerful one, at least for me. It's hard to explain what else attracted me, I just felt connected to the story.
yeah, i guess it's just one of those agree to disagree things. i honestly didn't find anything all that interesting about her or the story. but maybe i'm wrong. i have been before about things and then wished i hadn't said the thing i did say. honestly, it was just something about it that stopped me from being captivated. i mean, looking at it now, i should find april to be extremely powerful and intriguing but...sorry.

At least they're consistently shit.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
really? i actually like those covers. well the first one and the last one. the middle one, with the chess pieces, was a bit dodgy. but i do like a consistent theme when connecting books. seriously though, i dig 'em.
As much as I hate the Twilight series - I think the covers are beautiful. They are perfect.
yep. i'm backing this opinion, minus the hating on it. i'm not hating on the twilight. but the covers, yes, they are fucking cool. except for the chess one. and the fact that they have re-released yet another edition of the books that have red page edging. edgy!
