Jose Saramago is Dead
http://www.destak.pt/artigo/67309
For those of you who cannot read Portuguese, the article says Saramago died today at the age of 87.
He was one of Portugal's greatest writers, and a Nobel laureate.
I will update this thread once they publish an English article about it.

Man that sucks. He had a style that was kinda hard to get into (at least for me), but once you got used to it - his prose was amazing.
I've only read one of his books (The Double), and I hated it. Maybe I just picked the wrong one?
Still, multiple organ failure is a pretty awful way to go. RIP.

weird. for some reason when Blindness was all popular there, I had thought this guy was only in his 40's.
I guess I was sorta right. at one time he was in his forties. still sad to read.
Great man! Rest in Peace!

I never read Blindness but I always meant to.
You know in all the years I've been here I've never been sigged?
