It's the end of the world and I am reading...
I adore Edith Wharton. I need to reread this one, I read it in high school and I don't remember a thing about it.

A friend had me read The Alchemyst by Michael Scott. It wasn't bad. Now I'm reading Storm Front, the first book in The Dresden Files.

Read Dark Curtains by Evans Light.
Youth by J.M.Coetzee.
It's not amazingly good or anything but it's pretty entertaining. You'd probably enjoy it well enough. It's not all that much like And the Ass Saw the Angel if you've read that.
I've read And The Ass probably 8 times.
Love the fuck out of that book.
Tuffy the Dump Truck may rarely increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. The risk may be greater if you have heart disease or increased risk for heart disease (for example, due to smoking, family history of heart disease, or conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes), or with longer use. Tuffy should not be taken right before or after heart bypass surgery. Also, Tuffy may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. This effect can occur without warning symptoms at any time while taking Tuffy. Older adults may be at higher risk for this effect. (See also Precautions and Drug Interactions sections.) Stop taking Tuffy and get medical help right away if you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects: bloody or black/tarry stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech. Ask your doctor if Tuffy is right for you.
Of Mice and Men, on Gabriel's recommendation. (Shoving it at me this morning after not stopping talking about it all week)
I've loved everything else of Steinbeck's that I have read.
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie.
The Twelve by Justin Cronin.
I saw the Dresden Files TV show. It was pretty good. Wizard Private Eye or something.

I have not read And the Ass Saw the Angel. I believe it is out of print now. Years ago, I held that book in my hands so many times and never ended up buying it...
I had the UK hardcover, first ed. Came out about a year and a half before the American edition.
Got something different out of it every time I read it.

Really. I'm gonna have to think about picking up a used copy then.
Naomi by Juni'chiro Tanizaki. Finally found a pirated copy, after almost 3 years since it was recommended to me.
I want to re-read The Silmarillion during winter break.

Starting IV by Chuck Klosterman tonight.
I see it's available on Kindle. And the Ass Saw the Angel is very different to The Death of Bunny Munro but it's also quite a bit better. Not that the latter is bad at all.
Not available for nook.
I wish I wasn't such a slow reader. So much I need to get through, argh.
Of course I loved Naomi, I was right to be so excited when I found it.
Wow--good luck. That was probably the toughest book I've ever tried to read... two false starts then gave up and listened to it on cd.
It took me six months to read it the first time, but I was 13.
That is one that I have on my shelf and have been meaning to get to but people keep scaring me with stories of how tough it is.
It never was supposed to be a story--just notes for future stories. So it kind of reads like The Bible.
Listening to it made me zone while driving--the only book to achieve this.
I like that you compared something that "was never supposed to be a story" and "the bible" to each other!
That made me laugh.
I don't know how reading The Bible feels because I never even tried.
I took a couple classes on the Bible in college. It's interesting if you're studying the philosophies behind it. But it's not like sitting down and reading For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Same here!! Except for me it's what I want to read. But still!
I've read the bible.
A couple times.
Likewise.
I can't find the plug-in thingy for my Kindle and the battery warning light is on.

Loads I want to read too! I think I have a problem just sitting down and reading for long hours because my mind wanders. Even when it's stuff I really enjoy.

:-(
I keep it in the box my Kindle was delivered in. Saves me a lot of trouble.
If I kept the boxes stuff came in I'd need a second place just to keep boxes.

I only kept this box.
Shoe boxes don't count.
Sheesh Tuff, stop buying so many pairs of shoes. less you're gonna show 'em to us in the girly thread, that is.
I have a few things going right now.
I'll be finishing up Powers the Definitive Collection Vol 2 probably tomorrow. Just reading the extra stuff. There's a really long Bendis interview that I want to read in it.
Slowly starting Trust Me, I'm Lying by Ryan Holiday. I want to love this book. But it's starting out pretty repetitive. Hopefully he smooths it out soon. I'm supposed to be writing about it for ManArchy.
Today started reading Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars by Cody Goodfellow. I'm halfway through the first story and I'm really liking it already.
TV Snorted My Brain by Bradley Sands.
It's great, right?
I posted all my shoes in the All My Shoes thread back in ought-nine.

The Lusiads by Luís de Camões, in Romanian, because I'm not a masochist to read it in Portuguese.
Finishing up Batman: Tales of the Demon, then starting This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz
I posted all my shoes in the All My Shoes thread back in ought-nine.
I never knew there was an All My Shoes thread.
I love Junot Diaz. His short story book Drown is one of my all time favourites.

I really enjoyed Drown too, but was a little let down with Oscar Wao. Definitely excited for TIHYLH.
David Lee Roth's Crazy from the heat.
I am reading The Red Tent by Anita Diamant.
The writing is quite superb so far and has me enraptured. I hope it doesn't turn out to be one of those Christian books that waits till you are sucked all the way in near the end to start preaching at you.
My old work friend gave me that as a leaving present! I enjoyed it.

true that.
